Black Flag looks and runs great on PS4. You sure that's an appropiate comparison? Not saying you're wrong but that would essentially mean everyone is lying lol. I'm not a huge AC fan but I was interested in trying this one since the parkour/climbimg aspect is supposed to be improved. That's always been my biggest beef.
I played AC4 to death. Platinum'd it and still went back to it. Graphics, framerate and responsiveness were all top notch. I have Unity sitting in front of my monitor, afraid to open it, play it and be disappointed.

So, next games that I may be getting rid of (I may have mentioned some before, can't remember):

Valkyria Chronicles

Tales of Symphonia

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

Beyond: Two Souls

Doom 3 BFG

Crysis 2

Crysis 3

Hitman: Absolution

Advice please.
No to Doom 3 BFG and Crysis 2/3

K so Walmart has an Xboner + Master Chief Collection + $30 Gift Card for $329, and they're guaranteeing it for an HOUR!

This is the biggest console bomba I remember ever seeing. Just over a year ago we're looking at $500 for Xbox One, now its $329 - $30 GC -$45 resell on MCC = $254 and basically anyone who wants one can get one with that guarantee. Essentially 50% off just one year later!!!

What's weird is that Xbone isn't doing that bad, especially in the US, it's just that they're getting trounced by the PS4. I wish the WiiU had been this aggressive with their pricing after struggling so bad out of the gate.

Craziness. If I hadn't been royally fucked and banned by MS, I'd be considering an Xbox One this holiday season. If PS4 wins November and December NPD it will be a miracle.
That's really tempting as I really loved Halo Multi when I was a kid.

I watched munky's stream for a while and it seemed perfectly fine. I think they've got a new or partially new engine in unity and so they were doing a little tech dick swinging with the '20000 people on screen' shit and went too far. there's no gaming purpose to having 20000 individually animated and scripted npcs, it was just to try to show off. I'm sure it dips and chugs here and there, but not thte majority of the time. it looks real pretty though, and they seem to have de-disneyfied how the characters looked in cutscenes which I appreciate.

ready to get to playing it now, too bad my trophy sickness will force me to finish the aquapazza plat in the morning since I'm like 20 minutes away.

and yeah, ac4 looked and ran great on ps4. when they added that 1080p patch in the first week it looked even crisper without any new hiccups. when they get it right (ac4, rayman) ubi pulls off some pretty incredible stuff visually.

I don't know with Unity, the thing that concerned me more is people were saying it gets worse as the game goes on and the framerate chugged when there weren't any crowds on screen. That seems odd. They could patch it though. I was high on ACIV, but I don't need another long game currently so I can wait it out for now or buy and play Freedom Cry if I get the urge for more AC.

It makes sense given that is Microsoft's solution for pretty much every gaming related shortcoming, throw money at the problem.

I did change the scores like Gator suggested, so that bumped everyone up a point in the first day's challenge on the novice side.  I just didn't update the standings in the OP cuz that's a pain in the ass.  They'll be updated with day 2 scores in a few hours anyway

We had a store in my town when I was younger called Video Odyssey that let you rent consoles as well as games. If this was still a thing I'd rent an Xbone to play Sunset Overdrive.
That was my first experience with the SNES, rented the console and Super Castlevania IV from the video rental department of a chain grocery store. The first thing I noticed which was improved so much over the NES was not the visuals, but the sound effects and music were so much better.

I used to rent consoles all the time from City Market/King Soopers...  Did it for Dreamcast and N64... and when they had the PS2 shortage I rented at launch as well... fun memories as a kid!

Me and munky in a dead heat!
Holy shit, I am better than Vig. By this logic I am the PSN champion and owner of all the Platinums.

It still puzzles me that Sega went to all that effort to put Valkyria Chronicles integrated with the DLC out on PC, but not the likely far simpler task of putting the game on PSN, unless they plan to go big with VC: Remastered for PS4 or something while there still isn't much exclusive retail-level content on the PS4.

I've been sitting in a jury assemblage room for the last two hours, just waiting and waiting and waiting to be called, with the prospect of seven more hours of this. I understand the logistic necessity of having a surplus of jurors but good god this is boring. Why didn't I bring my Vita with me? I could be playing Spelunky right now! :/

This would be great. I still have my copy sealed.

That is such a bad business strategy.

And yeah, all early adopters deserve to get screwed somewhat for being early adopters. But Xbone early adopters are getting completely reamed! I know they got a Kinect, but seriously Kinect is basically a $100 voice activated remote control at this point.
a defective voice activated remote control

(did not correct author's post out of respect  )

It was thanks to Blockbuster Video that I got a PS2, as I rented one from them just to try out Final Fantasy X. Oh, the memories...

Yeah that sold out SUPER quick...they must have had like 10 available.
It said over 500 sold, but don't know if that was at the sale price or not.
Let's hope this is a good sign for the PS4 not losing much ground in the numbers this month. However, as Tyler's long post earlier pointed out, it seems inevitable with the deals they have going on compared to what the PS4 has. Even if the PS4 has better games, if the parents are picking and console doesn't matter it is easy to know which one they will be buying. I really wish Wal-Mart had a guaranteed PS4 bundle of some sort since I think that is huge for MS.

When I worked at Video Watch/Hollywood Video in college, we could rent the consoles for free without deposit. So my roommate and I would take home one of the N64s and PS1s for weeks at a time because they weren't rented a whole lot. That's how I played most games on those systems. I think the only reason we had to bring them back was because of an annual inventory or something.

Yeah I had a N64 for like 4 or 5 months for free because my sister dated the owner of Video Odyssey's son. It was great.

Sorry MildPete, but I couldn't resist buying these for my after lunch snack, even though they betrayed you. Forgive me?

Yeah, you have to admit that MS are bringing their A game for the holidays. Damn fine bundle prices plus and a pretty heavy marketing campaign (though I'm surprised at how few commercials I've seen for Master Chief collection compared to Sunset Overdrive.. that is a definite system seller).
One area I think they're screwing up on is the lack of available Sunset Overdrive bundles. That needs to be front and center of all of their holiday displays since it features one of their two big exclusives for the season and the console color that everyone seems to want. If people are not seeing the bundle they want, they could keep putting off buying an Xbox One right in the middle of Microsoft's big push to catch up to PS4 numbers.

If they bring out some more SSO bundles the only people they could possibly upset are resalers, anyways.

I do think this was a huge mis opportunity, and from what I have seen they are not going to get anymore SSO bundles... it has been deleted from best Buy, and a friend that works at the MS store said they were told they weren't getting any. Not to mention that lots of people are saying they are getting called from Best Buy saying all SSO orders that are back ordered are canceled as the bundle is discontinued.

Valkyria Chronicles won't be short but it's at least a lot of fun if you're in the mood for turn based strategy. There's plenty of newer Tales games to play with more on the horizon, and I was never able to get into the Gamecube original (with the sequel being less well regarded).

If you're just looking to play through the single player and not worry about trophies then the Crysis and Hitman games should be fast to get through.

Beyond Two Souls is, sadly, very skippable.

Maybe if Sony starts losing some ground they'll get serious about improving PSN.

Backlog was asking which of those games he should get rid of, so basically you agree with most of us that Beyond: TS should be the first to go. :grouphug:

I think we will find out soon unfortunately.

I have not really had an issue with PSN like others seem to complain about. Granted, I do not play online games all that often. They have done well improving the social features, but some (like messaging) have seemed to be close to broken for a really long time.

I've never really given the turn-based strategy genre a chance, so VC is a good candidate for that I suppose. No trophies so I won't be stuck with a low percentage if I end up not liking it. Not that that's every really mattered to me, but could be seen as a plus.

So regarding this 12/11/14 nonsense. When I look at the Spelunky DC leaderboard on my Vita it's in the US form, 11/12/14 as you'd expect. Are you guys seeing it Euro style???

I am glad I'm all caught up on Arrow now (well, except for last week's). I "love" how ign can spoil things with just the title of a article or a thumbnail for it.
Yeah that's the reason I spoilered it even though it was just a link. The URL alone was enough to spoil it when combined with what I had typed.
