I ran through raid on normal tonight. IF someone has the oracle checkpoint on hard I'd like to do that this weekend. Picked up Atheon's Epilogue, Found Verdict and Thunderlord. Still can't get any raid armour; I don't want to level up my existing armour so I'm still stuck at 28

Yeah, sorry, I don't have any checkpoints now. But if I don't run all 3 chars with that other group next week I ought to have a hard Oracles checkpoint on one of my chars (probably my level 30 Titan since I tend to do the beginning with him and then get the later rewards for the other 2 characters who need it more).

The major problem I'm having with this game now is the lack of events. They had the Queen's Wrath one which while not spectacular, at least was a quick and easy way for newbies (as most of us were at the time) to get some legendary gear. I know the first stuff I ever got for my Titan and Warlock (who I started up just as Queen's Wrath was ending) was from there. My Warlock is still wearing the robe from that since I haven't pulled the cuirass from the Raid yet.

To keep people interested they really should have invested more into these optional side-events. I know we have Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris coming up at some point but those are both Crucible events so I have no interest in those. They should have made more PvE events other than the Raid. Even if they are just hard versions of story missions (like Queen's Wrath) that's OK as long as they have unique rewards. Hell, at this point I'd slog through something like that even if it just meant a unique Titan mark or Warlock bond or ship or sparrow or even emblem. It was looking good at the beginning of the game when they had Queen's Wrath followed by Iron Banner. It seemed like they were going to alternate PvE and PvP special events. That would have been perfect. But then they totally dropped the ball on it...

The paid DLC content is great and all, but they really should be changing up the game month-to-month to keep people interested. I have put a lot of hours into this game (probably more than any other game I've ever played). But I am starting to hit a wall with it. I still prefer it to most anything else (I started Sunset Overdrive and while it was OK, I went right back to Destiny after an hour of that). I'm just watching Netflix now instead of playing anything ;)... Though I might start Skyrim tonight.

I really thought we were going to start getting special events every other week or so, considering how they moved from Queen's to Iron... Pretty big let down.

And I agree, Queen's Wrath wasn't great in that it recycled existing missions. But it was definitely nice to get those first pieces of legendary armor (still wear the titan helmet since I think it looks cool). And being able to stack the Wrath bounties with regular bounties really helped on the XP side.

The grinding is rough, but I seem to be OK with it when I know that I'm making progress on 2 or more fronts; like running tiger strikes while leveling gear, I get marks, XP and whatever reward pops at the end.

The mats farming is less tedious when I've got a piece of gear to level at the same time and, hopefully, a bounty that lines up with it too.

I think this is partly why RNG puked all those purples at me a few weeks ago. Gave me a bunch of gear to work on... it also got me to love hand cannons (which I never bothered using prior) ;)

Meh - I went to pick it up and even though I have like 50 coins, 23 just seems like too much. I got Icebreaker for only 13 or 17.

Maybe I'll still get it tonight. I just don't see having the time to level it up. If I do that I'll feel compelled to run the Weekly on my 3rd character to get 9 of those coins back ;).

I have so many coins because there is nothing I can even buy lately and so I bought it and like 30 handcannon telemtries and so it is already almost leveled up for me : D

Bahah damn! I literally just did that about 4 hours ago! A shame Thorn is nothing now that we all have The Last Word!
Oh well, I can't believe I actually did the void kills so just wanted to finish it off. I found some randoms on one of the sites and they got to the boss with me then dropped without saying anything because it was too hard apparently. So lame.

That sucks. I looked earlier when I saw you asking for help and looked like you had a full team otherwise I was going to jump in.

It is on lvl 28 with epic, but you can self respawn after 30 seconds with no revive necessary. You do need a good arc damage weapon so maybe that is why they bailed. Oh well, I am out of town for the next few days so I'll pick it up when I get back if you or anyone else is around.

I blame you for this Broly. I went and got one. Then I felt compelled to try to level it up. But I forgot how SLOW it is to level exotic weapons. Man, I spent over an hour doing a bunch of missions and bounties on 2 characters and I only got one upgrade out of it. I should have bought some of those telemetries too...

I'm still working on my Vex Mythoclast as well. So now I have 2 exotic primaries to upgrade while I'm doing other stuff. I think I'll stop playing just for that, though, and only work on them when I'm doing the dailies or public events and such.

Man, it would be REAL nice to have a PvE event like Queen's Wrath now to work on while also getting weapons/armor upgraded. But no, we can't have any of that...

Yeah, I did it a few weeks back when I had the bounty. It definitely wasn't easy, I thought, even with the revives.

You can handle it just like you are doing the Nightfall except one person stays out.

First go out and take out everyone except Phogoth. Once you have done that, you take one person and have them hide in that dip in the rocks on the very far back left and then the other two stay in the initial doorway. Outside guy peaks his head out (where you cant really get hurt) and just picks off the new adds that are brought by the dropships whereas the other two play pretty much just like Nightfall where you stay in the doorway, and take out enemies and then run back when the Shrieker spawns. These two players also should be trying to keep Phogoth aggroed so the outside guy can do his thing. Then once The Unwed or whatever comes you guys can take him out that way still even and then focus attention on Phogoth and finish it up.

I have done it twice with little difficulty so you should be good going in with that so long as you have semi competent people even haha

Honestly if you treat it like the nightfall you are dragging it out and making it more difficult for no reason by spawning the additional mobs that spawn with the shrieker. They go away with the shrieker but you still have to wait and it's just not efficient.

It's a level 26 strike so you should easily be able to do it normally by clearing the waves and run back into the room if you have to. Xyor will spawn in the 3rd or 4th wave. Just stay off the top ledges since that will spawn shit too.

I can raid, but not until after The Walking Dead. ~10EST :)

Glock, I'm not doing the bounty, but if you see me on send an invite and I'll help you out just for kicks. I'm just doing random activities leveling up the exotic helmet I picked up from a Xur engram this weekend (dropped me 2 levels when I equipped it).

Damn. I wish it was a little earlier. I have a bright and early meeting Monday morning so I was hoping to get going by 8 central.

I can run it if you guys want - it is 7 Pacific right now. Post here or send me a PM if you need another.

Otherwise, I'll really try to save an Oracles checkpoint this week if that same group invites me. I really hope they do invite me at least one more time. If I can pull a helm for my Warlock, I'll have all I need from hard mode (except that damn pulse rifle) and can then just run normal with you guys to get the last armor pieces I need. Of, if we just can't get it together any more, it is always easier to run Normal with randoms than hard.

How many here are getting the DLC? It would be kind of fun to jump into the new Raid ASAP without prior knowledge and see if we can figure it out. I'm wondering if that will release immediately with the DLC or roll out a few weeks later like the original Raid did?

Thanks for the tips on that strike.  The main problem I had was that I was with randoms who were not communicating so that was making it unnecessarily difficult and causing us to wipe repeatedly instead of just waiting a few extra seconds for someone who was downed to auto revive.  I did not have much time to play so it was probably good they dropped instead of wasting another hour.  I'll pick it up later this week when I am back and after I finish the other weekly stuff.

I am going to get the DLC, unless bungie finds a way to really screw it up (like not adding achievements).  With the amount of time I have spent on the main game I think I'll get my money's worth with the 2 DLC packs.  I definitely still do not like the fact that this is more like Developer Locked Content that was stripped from the main game to be held for these packs.

Definitely true. My method is more of just a guaranteed way if you are having troubles. Plus I was using my useless Hunter ; P

I wish I would have waited a bit. A friend invited me to a group with some randoms about an hour before your post. Things were going fine until the gorgons. There were a few new people that had never done it so you would think they would just follow the leader.... nope. Finally got through that part and managed to do the gatekeepers on the first try. Then spent over an hour on atheon. Everybody was dead set on using the center platform strategy, which wasn't working. I managed to convince them to spread out for one try since that seemed to work well for us. When that didn't work they went right back to the same method. It never seemed to fail that the shield would glitch just long enough for somebody to die on the platform which would create a domino effect of being a man down so others die trying to get him. Not to mention how many times atheon would glitch and only send two people. To top it off all I had gotten up to that point was ascendant materials and a warlock bond. This is the third or fourth week that I have gotten no reward besides materials. I love the gameplay, but my patience is wearing extremely thin.

At this point I am getting the DLC simply because I already bought the guardian edition which included it. Part of me is glad I did and part of me is wishing I hadn't.

At least thanks to Broly for the tip on the hand cannon. I don't even like hand cannons, but have wanted that one since I found the grimoire card early in the game. That thing is a beast. Once I max suros I might have to start using that one.

Maxed out Last Word with a Hunter with Chain of Woe = Unfair PvP hahah I love it.

I was consistently going 1.5 - 3.5 k/d and most captures when running that build. I used up a bunch of telemetries leveling that sucker out.

I am really bummed though. My buddy JUST STARTED a Hunter. This makes his 4th character total and in ONE NORMAL RAID and 2 sets of Hard Orcale checkpoints... he has a level 30 Hunter already. Bullshit! His luck is consistently amazing. He was the first of my friends to get basically everything. I think he needs one more gun and then he has literally everything you can get in the game. It is ridiculous.

I still have not gotten ANY RAID GAUNTLETS. Period. I have been playing with three freaking characters every week for months now consistently and I have not gotten a single pair of Raid Gauntlets with either of my Warlocks or my Hunter. I really had hoped to get my Gauntlets for my Hunter so I could have her at 30 for the Iron Banner but now I will probably be using my Warlocks in the event even though I MUCH prefer my Hunter in PvP.

Ugh.

Heh. I have done the raid exactly twice, on Normal, and I've looted two pairs of Hunter gauntlets, along with the Hunter torso, and the Corrective Measure machine gun.

Yeah, I read that it went live an hour ago but I just checked on Xbone and no update.
Only thing that really impacts me from what I can read is obviously the prep for Iron Banner and then the additional bounty slots. And the increased stability. But really looking through all the other changes I have either not run into those glitches and/or not tried exploiting that area.

Still good to see nice robust patches addressing real things and not "they are doing too well lets change that" patches.

Finally a good update for pvp. Hate it when i play control and the other team has a preformed team. Ofcourse us randoms will suck bigtime. Glad they did the match preformed teams vs preformed teams.

Still would be nice to see the improvements they promised weeks ago (like gun buffs). Maybe I'm just being cynical after last night's raid. ;)

It's amusing how they fix these little things (which, granted, will be well received), and they patch things like the cheese spot on that strike, but they don't fix frustrating glitches in the raid like teleporting the wrong number of people, or minotaurs with regenerating health, or teleporting people with a detainment shield on hard, or Atheon being able to shoot through the relic shield....

Edit: Apparently some exotic weapons have been unintentionally altered (lowered damage output, different scopes, etc.) by this patch.  What kind of interns are they hiring?!?!  They didn't fire the ones who "patched" the Atheon cheese?  They need to hire a new head of QA....

Well, good to see they didn't "fix" the Templar cheese and instead addressed some real issues there.

But what did they do to that one strike to fix the "exploit"? This one:

◾Winter’s Run: Fixed an exploit zone in the Aksor boss encounter

I get my strikes mixed up. Is that the one with the Shrieker people were talking about earlier? If so, did they fix the ability to stay out of the room past the shrieker or the little wall area in the back left? Or is this the Nexus one?

Also, this is nice, though I'm not sure exactly what it means:

◾Added support for direct fireteam joins from the roster on the Xbox One

I see they also added countdown timers for weekly events in orbit. That's nice but what I would prefer is something to mark whether you already did something or not. We have the halo thingie for the nightfall, but it would be nice if the icons changed for the weekly heroic and especially the Daily. With 3 characters and playing just after reset plus later the next evening I often tend to forget which character did which event. I've accidentally replayed dailies a few times only to end up with no reward.

Aksor is the priest. They made it so you can't go under the platform anymore.

The strike is the Nightfall and Weekly for this week. They patched it so people can't hide under that platform. I never used the platform anyways. Seemed too slow to kill the Archon from there.

But what did they do to that one strike to fix the "exploit"? This one:

This is the Strike on Venus where the big Fallen guy is trapped in the pod and then you fight him after he's let out. The change is that you can no longer get underneath the metal platform at the back of the area and hide there.

^ Thanks. See, I told you I got all the strikes mixed up. The only one I was sure it wasn't was the Earth one. Ah - I just used the platform to solo the weekly a few days ago. I had used the beginning area for he Nightfall but the platform really was much easier once I figured out how to get to it. Too bad they had to do that. It's just like with Atheon - as soon as I figure out how to do it, they patch it in mere days ;).

Heh. I have done the raid exactly twice, on Normal, and I've looted two pairs of Hunter gauntlets, along with the Hunter torso, and the Corrective Measure machine gun.
Nothing beat my first ever raid (led by Broly): Titan mark, Titan torso, Titan gloves (or boots - one or the other in any case), Atheon's Epilogue, and the normal Raid ship.

But that was just a tease for the mounds of Chatterwhite that came afterwards ;). Actually, I haven't gotten a Chatterwhite from my last 3 or 4 completions which has been nice. I finally got another ship just last week with something like 10-15 Atheon completions in between that and my first one.

This is the Strike on Venus where the big Fallen guy is trapped in the pod and then you fight him after he's let out. The change is that you can no longer get underneath the metal platform at the back of the area and hide there.
Glad to hear you can still take him out from the rocks (beginning area). However for Nightfall purposes it might be wise to bring a second player, if you are not a Warlock.

I totally 2nd this. I think i had to restart this nightfall 2-3 times this week for my tita. either by being meleed by a dreg or getting booted to orbit during the boss stage for a network error. Soloing nightfalls using warlocks is so much easier and leas stressful.

Joining fireteams from the roster will be nice. Also like matchmaking chat, increased public events (will make farming materials more fun), and the countdown timers. The minotaur health bar fix is great too, that error ruined a few nightfalls for me.

unintentional? Funny bungie! Hate that nightfalls are harder soloing. Wtf! If they put matchmaking to it then this wouldnt have been a problem. If they can do that with strikes how cone they cant implement that with daily, weekly and nightfalls? They just dont want people to farm materails, legendaries and strange coins much easily i guess.

That's OK. There's a better way to hide anyway.... Shhhhh.... ;)

io, after you do the daily/weekly/nightfall it should fill in the icon. If you haven't done it then it should be blank.

I haven't noticed any changes. Must be too subtle ;). Or maybe I'd notice if I saw both before and after together - but of course you don't see that at the same time.

So apparently this patch is multiple GBs? I should probably get that done before the reset so I'm ready to Raid at 1am...

This is a matter of perspective because nightfall is so much easier to solo or to do with two people because everything dies in less hits. I tend to solo it and invite people at the end because that way it's more efficient in terms of time spent.

For example the Sekrion took about 14-15 shots from my raid sniper to take down solo, but when I had an extra person in it took way more with both of us firing. This is what they say they are going to address by making it scale less with more people.

I'm surprised you never noticed it before, especially since you do it 3x a day :p

Yea everything from the weekly to daily gets filled in with color when you finish it

Everybody on Xbox One that have not done the Weekly Heroic or Nightfall yet, do it now before they release the patch that removes the under platform spot!

Am i reading the patch wrong? I thought the patch was making soloing the nightfall much harder than what it is right now as oppose to having more people in the fireteam? Hehe
