Amazon's Holiday Deals Calendar: Cyber Monday Deals Week

All the hate for amazon is because of taxes. Amazon has been price matching for years on BF and everyone loved it. Now the narrative is how amazon sucks because all they do is price match... because now most people pay taxes.
Actually, it has absolutely nothing to do with taxes. Zip, nodda, nothing. It has to do with Amazon going from a very aggressive retailer in regards to sales/deals to a retailer that just sits back and copies everyone else's deals. And you don't know for sure thats going to happen until Black Friday. All of the other stores release flyers so you know exactly whats going to be on sale and exactly how much everything is going to cost. Not Amazon. Not to mention the whole lighting deal crap. Cant stand those kinds of sales. I am so thankful I didn't waste any of my time this year on lightning deals.

As I said before, I love Amazon and shop there on a pretty much weekly basis all throughout the year, but they have sunken really low in regards to sales like Black Friday. Sorry to say, but price matching just isn't good enough, especially when people are getting an additional 20% off those prices through Best Buy's GCU.

Taxes, lol. In all honesty, I didn't even give one though to taxes until I read your post.

I miss the promotional credits they used to give with new releases.
Absolutely. Its not just about the pricing. They used to be aggressive in other ways as well, including the promotional credits. The Amazon we have right now is like the exact opposite of the Amazon we had 2-3 years ago. They literally give me no reason whatsoever to shop there during sales like Black Friday, hence why I walked away this year without buying a single thing from Amazon.

I didnt get much from Amazon either.  Only Lord of the Rings trilogy EE for $29.99 and Person of Interest Season 3 Blu for $14.99.  Have almost $400 in credit there but every single game deal they had I was able to get in store with no issue.  Big bummer they didnt do a deal for Forza Horizon 2...

You said it perfectly. That's my main gripe with Amazon - they are a giant retailer, yet they have very few original sales of their own. Most of their "sales" consist of matching other retailer's legitimate sale prices. If these competing retailers go out of business, Amazon will no longer have a legitimate sale to price match and will just charge retail. Being a cheap ass shopper, I do not like the looks of that future.

How about some originality in your sales, Amazon?

I agree that Amazon's deals were disappointing this year, not just with gaming but in general.  I bought one single item there (digital picture frame) and that was it.  The lightning deals were filled with too much jewelry and too much of the same stuff, virtually no laptop or TV deals, and too many deals that have been offered before.

The problem with Amazon price matching is that it's not a price match when you factor in things like ebates, reward programs (Kmart, Best Buy), cards that give you a percentage off (Target).  And the majority of their deals were on Thursday/Friday when other stores' deals went live late Wednesday night.

I still generally like Amazon but it's not a given that they're the cheapest place to buy most things like it used to be.

Anyone else bought the $199 Fire Phone? The year of prime pretty much evens it out to $100.

Before some say that this question is off topic, phones being a huge part of the gaming industry ecosystem.

if you need a new phone right now, and have a lot of amazon credit. you should get it. if not i can see it dropping to $99.99. the amazon fire phone flopped big time in sales trying to compete with iphone, and other android phones. i like that it has 4 cameras, so it can watch my every move from all angles. like a mini security camera

they're all worried about making money now, shareholder value and all that
Sucks. I think it was about 3 years ago when they last did it. I got some deals back then. That's also around the time they quit doing the "Preorder this game and get $10 and sometimes even $20 off the game". I haven't really preorded anything since. =(

Best Buy has taken the torch, then used it to set flames to Amazon by dropping another 20% off the price.

I only wish that BB offered the $10 credit with more games.

Amazon... gotta pay for those drones that will never actually happen.

just imagine the scenario, when one of those drones go haywire, and crashes into someone's car on the highway, or house, or someone walking on the street. the lawsuit that follows. the technology is just not there. maybe in 50 years.

that's the truth...the only reason I ordered from them is because I was sitting on some amazon credit. otherwise best buy with GCU all day. funny thing is I swore off best buy years ago, looks like they've turned things around.

The PS4 GTA V/Last of Us Remastered bundle is sold out on Amazon. Going for $100 over MSRP right now.

Amazon didn't have any hidden deals this year. Whatever was on the calender was just that. I remember crap popping up randomly every now and then in between and there were some nice surprises,

Amazon use to be really good on Black Friday when they have their own deals. It was also much easier to get those deals because they weren't lighting deals either.

Best Buy and Target here in Orlando have tons of PS4 bundles. I haven't got anything from Amazon this year was going to grab some Infinity figures but they were gone before I could snag them.

Another O-Town brethren, represent.

Did you buy one?

The PS4 bundle was a good deal, but I'm pretty sure Microsoft will win the month with the lower overall price. Those Xbone piles for $329 disappeared a lot faster then those pallets of PS4 bundles.

I agree. Couldn't find a single X1 at about noon on BF, several PS4 bundles available though. MS will probably win the month but I don't know how big of a dent they will put in Sony's lead.

As for Amazons lack of deals - gotta pay for those Fire Phones somehow!

I wonder how much of that is a function of each system's installed user base heading in to the holiday season.  I don't recall the North America only figures, but back in August it was 10M systems sold worldwide for PS4 compared to only 5M for Xbox One.

They will win the US, but as usual Sony will take WW sales.

Granted, at this point a lot of those people buying Xbones are buying it as a second system at this point. As a day one PS4 owner I was on the fence of getting an Xbox One this year, but I resolved to wait for Halo 5.

Destiny White PS4 bundle went back down to 399 on amazon (Sat 7:30PM Pacific Time). Which is weird because it was at $440 just a few hours ago. Not sure how long the 399 price will be there for.

That may be regional. The three Best Buys I frequent in DC area sold through their BF PS4's and moved a lot of kinect bundles (dat free controller), but the $329 AC bundles sat and sat. Two Targets sold through both, but that's unsurprising since they had the $50 GC door buster for X1.

The Sony bundles aren't coming back, either. All my stores said they were getting more vanilla PS4's and Destiny bundles, but no more GTA/TLOU inventory. That will auger in MS's favor unless Sony starts authorizing download codes, sort of like the TLOU and Infamous deals Gamestop's run over the last quarter.

On an unsurprising but sad note, NONE of the stores I frequent sold a Vita. Same # sitting in cages today as were there over a week ago. Makes my Vita fanboi heart hurt. They also sold dickall 360's and PS3's.

Sonic Hits Collection [Online Game Code] $12.49 (all Steam keys)

http://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Hits-Collection-Online-Game/dp/B00GJ2HZ7E/

This bundle includes the following titles:
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Sonic 3D Blast
Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic Adventure DX
Sonic CD
Sonic Generations Casino Night DLC
Sonic Generations
Sonic Spinball
Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed: Metal Sonic & Outrun DLC

Each is its own key, so you have to enter them all manually.  Too bad it isn't like Humble Bundle, but you do have them to give a way if you want.

Edit: Oh, besides the obvious of registering main games before DLC, you might want to do "Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing" before you do "Transformed."

I got some odd error about already having it and something about the "Sega Genesis & Mega Drive Classics."  Maybe it had something to do with me registering Mean Bean Machine first or something, I swear the 2nd key I tried was Transformed...

Can't remember where I saw it, but I believe a non-bundled Vita has a mid-December release date. Maybe there will be some promotions at that time.

I saw it on Amazon when browsing under "coming soon"

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-PlayStation-Vita-WiFi/dp/B00PV515DU/

Seems like the other --lame-- 1GB version they released, but with no other new features or game bundles.

Speaking of memory it looks like Amazon will be having another round of 16GB Vita cards for $19.99(I think it was?) at 2:10 PM today.

I still think it is better just save up and import a 64GB card. "1GB internal memory" come on Sony, even smartphone manufactures are going with 16GB as the default option these days, and a good portion of the 8GB card in the Borderlands 2 bundle was eaten up by its 5GB download.
