I have been saying the same thing since February. There are just no real deals anymore because the brick and mortar stores are lowering their profit margins to compete. And Amazon has to raise revenue from somewhere to foot the bill for all the outrageous acquisitions it is making. They do that by jacking up seller and consumer fees. So most of the prices aren't deeply discounted anymore. A lot of them are at or slightly below what they would be in the stores. If you get the sales tax discount, that is pretty much it nowadays.I agree that Amazon's deals were disappointing this year, not just with gaming but in general....I still generally like Amazon but it's not a given that they're the cheapest place to buy most things like it used to be.
Yeah, I think your spot on^ Amazon was never really a "great" business, at least in it's model, but once others began to offer similar deals and offers, their well has gone dry. They still have good customer service, but I no longer see the awesome deals of a few years back.I have been saying the same thing since February. Gone are the $5 credits when they messed up you order. They will occasionally comp a return if it will cost them more to ship it back than the item is worth. I got a free lawnmower blade this summer that way. And Prime is no longer a convenience. In the last 9 months, two-day shipping has been longer half of the time because of inept fulfillment issues. Don't even ask me what I think about their Sunday delivery deal with the USPS. I am sitting here right now, supposedly waiting on a package.
I use Amazon only if something is incredible deal and/or hard to find locally - and only after a lot of shopping around.
The only good thing about having separate keys is this - if you own any of these games on Steam already, you can just decide to do something w/ those. You can avoid a key going to waste, more or less. Head over to the Trading Forums on CAG, give them away in code-drops on CAG, give 'em away to friends, or whatever.Sonic Hits Collection [Online Game Code] $12.49 (all Steam keys)

I'm a PC gamer, so most of my purchases are spread-out somewhere digitally for downloading - Gamersgate, Steam, GreenManGaming, Amazon, GOG, Origin, Humble Bundle, etc. These days, it's all over the bloody place.Yeah, I used to use Amazon for all gaming purchases (at minimum) - but they've lost that business to Best Buy and GCU, mainly because of tax (just started a couple months ago where I live).
This is exactly the problem I've been having with Amazon since early this year. The two-day shipping used to be amazing -- in fact, most of the time, it came overnight. But then it started being three day... or four day. The breaker for me was when I ordered something for a trip out of town a few days in advance and they didn't ship it until the day before I left. I asked that they cancel it and have it re-routed to their warehouse because I wouldn't even be at home to send it back to them.Gone are the $5 credits when they messed up you order. I don't think anyone here is really taking it personally, and we're all well aware that Amazon is a souless, faceless corporation that exists to make money. The lamentations expressed above are engendered by the passing of an era. Humans naturally find unexpected change to be frightening, or at least depressing most often; and those of us who see the writing on the wall are saddened by the loss of a previously fantastic venue for great deals with quick shipping. Perhaps we do sometimes get a bit too attached to a retailer if they provide excellent service and prices (I would count myself amongst "team Amazon's" ranks), but at the end of the day, I'm well aware that we are not friends. We're strictly exchanging currency for goods; some of us are just expressing our sadness for having lost a previously excellent retail opportunity. I know I miss Circuit City; used to get dirt-cheap games there, and play them off of Best Buy and vice-versa for the best price. And as CAG-ers, that's what it's all about.I love how people take Amazon or lack of Amazon deals personally. It's just business folks.
If yout stuff is gone, you either have terrible neighbors or live in the ghetto. Amazon was trying to make you happy by delivering your stuff early but if backfired. If you had been at home you would have been thrilled to get your stuff early. If it is gone call amazon and most likely they will send you another one.So I am at my parents for Thanksgiving this weekend (about 5 hours from home) and I bought a Xbox One yesterday with Prime delivery for Monday. I check the tracking today and they left it on my doorstep of my apartment complex TODAY! It has been sitting there for 4 hours and I have not even left yet for home. I called a friend who is going to go get it but I am so mad right now. If it is gone what are my options?
Wow, that's pretty bad. I'm guessing you'll need to prove that it was stolen, but if you're "friends" with your neighbors then I'm guessing they're holding it for you. Otherwise you file this case with UPS/USPS/Fedex and let them handle it, then you should inform Amazon. I have had my mail given to neighbors when I wasn't home, which is terrible b/c I don't want them to have my packages tbh.So I am at my parents for Thanksgiving this weekend (about 5 hours from home) and I bought a Xbox One yesterday with Prime delivery for Monday. it doesn't always have to do with the neighborhood, or area you live in.If yout stuff is gone, you either have terrible neighbors or live in the ghetto. Yeah it was there so I am fine. Do not live in the Ghetto but I only know 1 of my neighbors because the last few months we had a lot of turnover. It is a big complex and normally the delivery people take our packages to the office and they hold them there but these 3rd party delivery people never do that. It is all good though.Wow, that's pretty bad. I'm guessing you'll need to prove that it was stolen, but if you're "friends" with your neighbors then I'm guessing they're holding it for you. I have no issues with taxes as I still shop Amazon tax free. My issue is that their deals have just been super underwhelming lately. Perhaps it is just a lack of games being on sale that I am interested in now or something, but I purchased multiple titles via Amazon on Black Friday for years in a row. This year? Only one and that was only to get above $35 for free shipping. Most of their offers were for old or critically panned games that should be cheap anyways.People expecting amazon to keep giving $20 giftcards with new releases are insane. That is not a sustainable business model. Amazon has been bleeding money for the last few years so obviously they have eliminated these deals.
What I find amusing is how amazon has won retailer of the year over and over at CAG despite not having any unique deals while just price matching everyone (for years now). The issue is that now they charge taxes in most states so the honeymoon is over.
Where was the bitching years ago when they eliminated the sweet trade ins and the $20 promo certificates with new releases? The party kept going with no taxes which made them a darling while physical retailers struggled. The playing field with taxes was leveled and now best buy, walmart and target dont seem so bad after all.
was lasership the 3rd party delivery company?Yeah it was there so I am fine. Do not live in the Ghetto but I only know 1 of my neighbors because the last few months we had a lot of turnover. Not sure. I will see when I get the package.was lasership the 3rd party delivery company?
Same...and also wondering whats the price point of it.I want to know how that GAEMS stands up to the vanguard. It would be nice to only carry around a screen rather than this huge monster of a suitcase around with me for gaming while on travels.
The deals were there... I got Mario Kart for $35. Nobody else had it that low except for Sears. All the other stuff was pricematching from retailers which you would have saved money since you dont pay taxes.I have no issues with taxes as I still shop Amazon tax free. Edit: It was still there. Still pissed.
Nah Amazon has been delivering on Sunday's for a while now.I was pretty surprised to get an amazon delivery today. I assume the post office working over the weekend is just for black friday?
Amazon hasn't really been good at these deals for 2+ years.Amazon this year for gaming has been mixed. Definitely see value in getting GCU next year for some game, but overall Amazon offers more selection than BB for games particularly niche JRPG's or SHUMPS. For black friday, for sure BB killed Amazon deals.
How much did they put the card today? Same as Thursday?A wild Vita deal appears!
Ever since prime price increase it started to go down hill. What ever happened to the pre-order credit amazon used to do? Or just their generally really good deals? They have been sucking for quite awhile now. Between B&M stores raising their game up (mainly BB) and Amazon just being a price matcher now-a-days, I have become mainly a in-store pickup guy now. It definitely doesn't help that you now get taxed in most states. Maybe if they stopped making some gimmicky electronics like that awful phone they wouldn't be in this position.
At least we still have AWH deals from time to time...
Must just be certain metro areas. I've never had a package delivered on a Sunday (and I order stuff from Amazon 2-3 times a week).Nah Amazon has been delivering on Sunday's for a while now.
Right, but Amazon used to be a lot better. For standard prices, they would try to beat everyone else's in-store MSRPs by 10-20%, if not they would offer huge promotional credits for $20 or so. Those promos are gone, and so are even the standard discounts. They are just another retailer at this point. And that is fine. We the consumers are free to take our money elsewhere. And we do.I bought 4 games from amazon this year, cheaper for me because I have prime and pay no tax and every game had the same price as best buy. I intended to buy from BB but their site wasn't working well and the shipping wasn't going to be for nearly 2 weeks. I know I'm in the minority and also I don't have gcu but amazon fulfilled my needs.
I saw it today as well, but it gone now. Oh well, still hang with my 32 gigs till it fullYes.
ThanksYes.
