Is Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. worth watching? We watch S1E1 last night. It was pretty entertaining.
I have to get back into it at some point, but it's supposedly pretty bad until about midway through the first season where it significantly improves and carries that quality to the end of the season. I hear almost unanimous praise for the currently-airing second season.

First half of season 1 is only ok since it's mostly case of the week stuff, then it gets better in the second half, then season 2 improves quite a bit as the storytelling became more serialized. S2 AoS > S3 Arrow so far.

Hey guys, is agents of shield worth watching? We,we only talked about it like 4 times this week, so I'm not 100% sure on what everyone thinks. Could we please have a discussion about Marvel movies and how they have terrible character development, too? Thanks!

I had about 40k in student loans going to a state school for undergrad. Paid them shits off in three years. My master's cost me nothing since work paid for it. Suck it, turds.
My dad believed part of the cost of having kids was paying for their education. He told my sister and I when we were young if we did well in school he would pay for our college expenses. However, we had to go to an in state junior college for 2 years and an in state University afterwards. In Florida, they had a program (you should check if they still do wren) called the Florida prepaid college program. He locked in prices for those schools when my sister and I were both under 10. You paid the price per hour at that time. Of course the price had sky-rocketed by the time we were college age, but everything except fees, books, and living expenses was already taken care of at a substantial savings. Due to that, I was lucky and never had a single dime of college expenses.

Before anyone asks, no my parents were not wealthy. In fact, when I finished UF my first job out of college had a higher starting salary than what my father made when he retired after 30 years of working at the FDOT as a civil engineer. He just knew how to save and we had what we needed but not always what we wanted.
Not really, it has had individual good episodes but as a whole the season arc is pretty directionless so far. I don't know if the events of the mid-season finale will finally give it direction or if they are just stuck with an off year since Season 2 ended so definitively. The best comparison I can think of is Dexter season 5, not bad per se, but was a rebuilding season after the game changing events of S4.
Go watch the finale, Owl.

I started playing Knack last week, I played for a few hours and thought it was competent but nothing special.  But since I stopped playing it last week I haven't had any desire to start it back up.  Either the game missed the target it was aiming for, or it hit the target but the target was in the wrong place.

So I thought it was an action platformer, but it's really not a platformer at all.  There's a fixed cam and no platforming challenge of any kind.  So it's basically just an action game.  The combat is not nearly deep enough to make it enjoyable, there is a dodge and a couple special moves and an attack button and that's pretty much it.  Not nearly enough to make it a fun game.

But it's quite a bit more challenging than a Lego game.  I can't imagine kids playing Knack the way they do Lego games, they would get too frustrated.

So Knack is basically an overly-tough Lego game with a terrible trophy list.

I never really read the reviews of the game, but I'm guessing they probably echo'd a lot of these sentiments.  Maybe the game gets a little bit deeper further in the game, but I don't think I'm going to make it that far.

Just noticed I got the fourth most rare trophy in secret ponchos, simply by viewing my hero card in Injustice...

Oh and fyi, I went and got two other injustice trophies to see if more secret ponchos would unlock, but I ended up not getting any trophies at all.

I cant remember if it was someone here or my other friend who had this happen tell me you can know which trophy you will get. Line up the 2 lists. If you get trophy #4 in the one game it will pop trophy #4 in the other. So if you want the trophy at the top of the list of ponchos, just hurry up and get that plat for Injustice.

This is what my mom did for me. She paid for 4 years at a state school and room/board. I decided to go to Community College first and lived at home for most of my undergrad. Got some money back for her on that deal. They still have the FL prepaid and she offered to open one for my daughter. She already paid off 4 years of state school for her.

Cleaning up last night I found a 1600 microsoft points card, unredeemed. Are these things still usable or did they pull the plug on them?
Still catching up on the thread, but send me the code and I'll test* it for you.

Yep, pretty much how I saw the game. It blows for a "kids game".

I got the Florida Bright Scholars scholarship (although I think the name has changed or it may be completely gone) and with what it paid out while I was living at home going to the junior college, it ended up covering most all the extra expenses I had at UF. A lot of that was because the apartments in Gainesville were so damn cheap.

If you offering to buy it from me, that could work. I'd cut you a deal. But let me first decide if I want to use it. We do still have Xbox 360s and I'm not banned like some people….

yupp you were right, thats what unlocked... bad news is the hardest Injustice trophies cover the rest of the Ponchos trophies... so no way I was getting anymore.

It should still work. According to their website, they haven't stopped redemption of purchased points cards but the amount expires 1 year from redemption.

Nobody should want to, but the parents should be doing it. My biggest fights with my wife are about our kids and her wanting to make them happy all the time. I want them to be happy too, but they NEED to be prepared for the real world and those two things so rarely have the same steps. Ideally, everyone would know what they want to do for a career and then choose based on that what path to take.
Have you read this? I thought it was pretty interesting:

This is a dig at you Tyler in case you missed it.

I got my first 2.5 years of college paid for by the VA because my dad is listed as a disabled Vietnam veteran. My last 2 years that I got loans for came to about 15k..I'm only paying 121/month on it, so it's kind of nothing and in the back of my head. The fact that my college was getting paid for when I started is what got me to go, even though I didn't know what I wanted to do. I ended up with a journalism & media communications degree from uw-Milwaukee just because all the media classes were interesting and fun stuff to write about. Even though it has nothing to do with my degree, I'd like to think the degree helped me get my job at the railroad, as it gave me a one up on some of the candidates. Either way I make a lot more money than I would towards my degree, and I have a job that I like and is mostly stress free!

Hey guys, I have a job where I work from home for only 1 hour a day and I make $150K a year!  Want to find out how I do it?  Buy my work from home package for only 10 easy payments of $109.99 each and you to can start learning how to make a higher salary than you could have ever imagined!

Oh yeah that's right, because someone is better at managing their money than others, that means they're rich and spoiled. I thought this was a therm post at first.
I'm pretty careful not to be an asshole by insulting people. I'll be an asshole in other ways, sure, but I don't think I've made a single personal attack in here that wasn't in direct response to somebody who did the same to me first (and then I still usually don't respond to that.)

That is definitely interesting, and I like what his end goal is. I am not sure I would take the same steps to get there as he is though.
Yeah, I thought it was a pretty good outlook to have. I generally think college is garbage for most people, though. I'm big on the idea of moving more towards trade schools and letting people take equivalency tests. I think the single best thing the government could do in regards to education is to separate college from degrees. Come up with standardized tests that somebody can go take for a small fee and say "You need to pass these tests to get a BS in whatever." This would allow people who self-study or learn on the job to get the same credentials as somebody who spent years of their lives sitting in a classroom. If somebody wanted to go to college instead of learning on their own, fine, but they'd still have to take the same test at the end.

I actually think High School is too much for a lot of dumbasses let alone college.   GED and trade school (or a "career" at McDs) is the way to go for a lot of people.

Fun Fact:  I graduated High School with a 2.2 GPA and was about 300 out of 500 seniors ranked by GPA.

I've eaten wild rabbit before and it is tasty. But you don't kill and cook someone's pet.
You do when it tastes good.

I'm completely joking, a pet rabbit and a wild rabbit are completely different. What a psycho, texting a play by play while cooking and eating it.

WTF is wrong with people?

Slacker.

Just had a meeting with my new hot supervisor just to get to know each other. She seems really cool and she's a huge movie buff like me and described herself as goofy and basically seems like a winner. And then she mentioned her boyfriend. My forbidden love affair dreams have been crushed lol.

My wife has gradually cared more and thus gotten better grades..

She had a 2.0 in high school, then a 2.8 in college, and currently holds a 3.4 GPA in graduate school.

We both went to a private college and honestly from some of her graduate classmates who went to state schools and complain about any paper being over 10 pages is hilarious.  I never had an under 15 page paper to write and they are complaining when they get 10.
