 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

There's 78 copies of Princess Resurrection in stock, do you think they'll last to tomorrow when the final sales go live?
There's only one more day left, so probably. However, you may want to decide if you want subtitle only (the cheaper one), or if you want the dub/sub version instead.

Thanks. Since I have a ton of Amazon credit, I bit on that.
I'd bite on that at that price as well if I hadn't already bought the show years ago and watched it a few times already :p.

Easily one of the most underated action show out there as no one I know watched it before I told them to watch it, and all of them enjoyed it. Just keep in mind, nothing about the show is really going to blow you away, but nothing should offend you either, it's just a well designed, well executed series without a lot of flash.

Opinions of Deadman Wonderland?
it's soo short vs the manga but very worth it imho. the worst part was probably the whiny voice of Ganta but nothing more really. It premiered on Adult Swim so you may be able to check a bit there or on Funi's Youtube if you want to "check the waters" per say

Hmm, I'm definitely getting Godannar but how's Ambition of Oda Nobuna?
If you like that time period. Warring states and whatnot.

Characters are pretty typical. The tsundere heroine, the oneesama, etc. There are actually only 2 lolis but Goemon's pretty cute.

The animation is nice. It's got some good fights and a few touching moments. I think a certain character should've died at a point, but whatevs.

If you're familiar with the events and people from that period, it could be pretty fun as you see events unfold differently and how the characters are represented.

You may want to rewatch it if you only remember only 2 lolis in that series, in fact, there's a third one on the cover even, lol, but yeah, there's more. ;D

Eh..she barely does anything. I did forget Hanbei for a second though. That is unforgivable. Allow me to commit sudoku in repentance.

How often are these Sentai deals and how are they in comparison to the Christmas deals of Rightstuf?
I'm confused on your question.

Rightstuf's 12+ is their Christmas sale.

They usually run a New Year's sale afterwards, but it pales in comparison.

As far as the Sentai deals, they used to be much more prominent in the past as Amazon and DeepDiscount would also participate in them.

But this year, outside of the subpar one that BB had recently, it's basically just been Rightstuf this year.

Hope that answered your question, and if not, you may need to clarify it as I'm not sure as to what you are referring to exactly.

Oh.. someone had mentioned waiting on the Mega Deal for a Sentai deal.. so I thought it was a different sale or something? I wasn't sure what i meant. I kinda drift in here every now and then, so I wasn't too sure if it was something I just wasn't aware of.

RightStuf has a MegaDeal on a single item every day that's technically separate from their 12 Days sale.

Sad to see that DeepDiscount / DVD Planet didn't have any great sales this time around. I picked up a ton of great anime and did nearly all of my Xmas shopping on DVD Planet last year.

I personally liked Get Backers. I'm a shonen fan and thought the characters, including the minor ones, were developed better than some other series. Sure the plot of the arcs initially seemed uninspiring, but I found that what was uncovered during their missions turned out much better than anticipated. Ban and Ginji were fun to watch as a duo as well.

I'll have to start picking and choosing what I want. Fortunately, I'll probably only be grabbing two things from this year's sales along with pre-ordering Yakitate.

I'm pretty sure that Barrit is talking about Right Stuf's periodic studio sales on Sentai.  Basically, their studio sales are 40% off the price listed as "retail price"  So, for example Oda Nobuna on blu ray would be around $41.99 ($37.79 for members) during the next studio sale.  Clearly the Mega Deal is the better price at $34.99.

The vast majority of the stuff in the 12+ days sale is the cheapest they will be on RS.

Justo ippun da~

I didn't hate it, but it was very long and not very spectacular. If it was half the length, maybe it'd be more worth the time. It's like a poor version of Trigun. There's so much better stuff out there.

Yea, I understand that part. Some people had replied to the megadeal saying they were going to hold out for the next Sentai deal since it will most likely be cheaper. I didn't know if Sentai themselves had deals, but I'm assuming they meant Rightstuf has Sentai deals.

half of my hastings order was in the mail when i got up this morning. it was delivered yesterday but i wasn't home. season 3 box set looks beautiful and a few of the single volumes look really nice. most of them came with the insert however one did not. nothing to fret over.

I assume they may have also been referencing next year's 12+ since the Sentai sales outside of this time are usually pretty meh, so that may be what they're talking about.

Such great Sentai sales this year. Not amazing but pretty damn awesome. Still i would wish for there to be an Aniplex sale lol. Only thing that went on sale was an import. oh aniplex

Anyone know why I can't seem to find AoT part 1 on amazon? I'm not looking for the LE.

Edit :nvm I found it but only through the desktop version

Frys also regularly has low prices on Sentai shows - albeit it's fairly random what's discounted and what's not. They even beat some of Rightstuf's current sales - e.g., Penguindrum set 1 for $15 instead of $24.50. And some shows have free shipping with no minimum purchase, although that can be somewhat random too.

I saw a couple other good deals on shows I wasn't interested in too. Got free shipping on all of mine, but it'll be a couple weeks til I get the order probably.

Any of these you guys would consider must haves? I've already seen Unlimited Blade Works, and I have Penguindrum already.
