What's up with the Massive pack anyway? It says it includes "issues" (funny they took that from COH/COV) 5, 6, and 7, but those, along with 8, don't seem to be available by themselves. 9 and 10 are, for 25 bux each, which is hilarious. Is there a way to upgrade to the Massive content later?

Also, on a scale of 1 to 10, how much is it like Majestic? I recall it being compared to that a lot when it came out.
Issues are expansion content, but you can skip them or do them out of order. They sell for $10 on the TSW store.

Buying the issues later on the TSW store will get you "massive ed" content. That said, there a *lot* of content in the base package.

I can't compare it to Majestic, since I never played Majestic, maybe someone else can.

So, I just opened my Marvel Hero's random hero box from yesterday...

finally spent a lil money today on torchlight 2. all the community choice games actually look good even though i own them all, hero siege is my pick though since it hasnt been bundled w/ dlc yet afaik

Question... If I own X game and buy another copy of X game on like GMG or something that gives me a code, will it be added to my account as a giftable title or just say "you already have that!"

A code will tell you that you already own it. If it's an activation link (like humble) then I've heard that it may still be used and be wasted.

If one already has plague inc on their phone is it worth having on steam? I think it's a fun game to play when I'm bored at work but not sure if worth the price on steam.

I ended up scoring Thor which I didn't have thankfully. I took advantage of the 50% off and grabbed Magneto and Groot with points I had been sitting on for almost 2 years now

Dungeon Derpfenders Eternity is also on massive discount along with the Dungeon Derpfender flash sale.  It's $2... which is about the right price for a 'repackaging' of the original game.  I never bought the expansion/DLC for the original and that's $1.50ish.  Apparently DDE is more 'CASUL!' and doesn't require a lot of tedious grinding.  Anyone played both and care to opine on the subject?

Dr Sacksquash can weigh in on this. He is an expert on the matter as he clearly has gone to medical school. This was all before he got hooked on gems though.

TDU 2 or NFS HP or.. . Beer?
I say beer. There are a bunch of great winter seasonals out there now that will be off the shelves soon. Test Drive and Need for Speed will be around for the foreseeable future.

Searching that informed me that there is a derpgeon defenders 2 in the wild as an early access game. Dope.

I really don't care much about games that won't be available anymore, unless I want the game, of course. This is the first time I see NFS HP with that discount on Steam. What bothers me about TDU2 is dat awful DRM

Here's a link which shows 2011 winter daily sales http://slickdeals.net/f/3798608-steam-holiday-sale-2011-daily-list-days-1-14-extras

This one shows the first couple days for the 2010 winter sale http://forum.groovypost.com/deals/steam-winter-sale-2010-live-dec-20-thru-jan-2-t96494.html

I'm not sure what to make of this but thought I'd throw it out there. I do think a factor is Early Access hurts the value of a sale from the consumer's perspective. There are two sales in the daily feature that are both getting just a 33% discount which may have gone to other games that could be 75% off or more. I do think, as well, that the length of time we've been using Steam and the rise of bundles have hurt how we perceive sales. Bundles have made the sale of nearly any indie game a non factor, as we'll either already own the game or refuse to buy it in fear of it being in a bundle in the future. Obviously, the length of time influences the fact that there are simply less games we're able to buy. This being said, there are things Steam could do, but won't, to increase how interesting a sale is. They could stop featuring games like Just Cause 2 and GTA IV, which are ALWAYS featured, and have been for years, and mix in games that are older or more obscure. They could also refuse to feature early access titles so they could feature other ones instead. They won't do either of these things because Steam is in it to make money, which isn't necessarily an interest which coincides with having a good sale. This is proven by the annoying (and sometimes stupid) buying habits of the average Steam user. Just look at the top sellers right now. Far Cry 4 is wasting a featured slot at $48 and is the #1 seller right now. Counter Strike is the #4 seller despite being released in 2012. Dayz is the #5 seller despite being over a year old and the fact that the sale still have a week left, so people should be waiting to see if it gets featured. Same principle goes for ARMA 3. A lot of people have asserted that Steam "isn't trying" anymore, I think that's not true. They are trying, but they're trying to maximize profit, which means catering to the majority of their audience.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Just reading over those lists of sales brought back a little of the joy I felt those two years, even though at that time I was less likely to splurge than I am now. For me, that was just a more exciting time for gaming in general. The indie scene was new, it felt like people were trying new ideas in games as opposed to the relative stagnation now, even from a technical perspective I was more likely to be impressed with graphics, and, of course, most of all I didn't have bundle buyer's malaise. There are actually a bunch of games on sale today at price points that previously would have tempted me, but without the extra Ruskie discount I'm most likely just going to wait for them to be bundled. So my card-money-stocked wallet remains intact another day.

I don't see how any of these $1 android apps are worth $10 on the PC.

plague inc especially pissed me off, because the android game uses in-game purchases to unlock ...and it took me several days of emails to the company to get an unlocked game after paying for it.

Edit: I should add, that I really enjoyed the game after I got it running. Lots of fun. Not something I would play at a desktop though.

Wasn't sure if it had any big differences from the mobile version but reading some of the reviews showed me it doesn't other then fancier effects. I'll wait for a $3 point.

If you like the game... pick up the Board Game version. It is really good, and different from the App. You play the role of the people fighting the virus... where in the app you pay the virus.

Cheers!

5 activations. If that worries you buy it from Amazon (due to their policy).

I'm more worried about how long time online-play servers will hang around. Playing online adds a nice touch.

I've never played the software versions, but I'll second the board game is quite good.

Did anyone buy this? Google translate had this to say:

  • REGION LOCKED: This game can only be played in North, Central and South

Not very detailed on where that is per say. Maybe they forgot to add "America" at the end of the sentence.
Works in 'MURICA. I picked it up in Brazil on a recent trip. I think it's their way of staying open to the 'MURICAN market while still pissing off redditors Europeans.

Does that still apply in the post Tony days? Without a point of contact to escalate to if necessary I tend to think it may be YMMV depending on which Indian drone you get like CS everywhere else, but I haven't tested it. Amazon does tend to throw store credit at you if you sneeze though so I guess there's that,

Agreed on the multiplayer service of an EA game being at risk for shut down long term.

Still, leaving that ancient DRM in without any alternative digitally is just lazy. Even Origin DRM would be preferable and it's not like there's a reason to leave DRM in those old ass been cheap a ton of times games.

Maybe they'll release it on GOG at some point. *shrug*

Funny thing is those Farbissinas and Swedanavians and shit keep buying stuff on Nuuvem that says REGION LOCKED in bold red letters in English and then bitching about it on Reddit.

Nuuvem is like Hasselhoff, really big in Europe.

I totally agree... I bought it back in the Tony-days. I'm not sure, as no one on CAG has ever reported actually using that clause on Amazon. Still, Amazon CSR >> Steam CSR. And it's easy to re-key when not on steam. I imagine if one pushed hard, Amazon would simply refund. Again, I think the online servers will get shut down before I hit my 5-activations (though it's still a fine game in offline mode.)

Goat Simulator fans, are you sick of not being able to get your Goat Sim fix when away from your computer?

For only 99 Tony Amazon Coins you can get it on Android.  Goat Sim 2 Go

Is Nuuvem's Alien Isolation Season pass region restricted? I know the base game they sell is, but I remember reading somewhere that there were no locks on the Pass.

Oh, plus a bunch of heritage and their language, but can't acknowledge that!
Aww, clear the sand from your vagina, it's just a bad joke.

Interesting, because when I got into PC gaming i was much more likely to splurge, because I was used to console peasant prices. I was so overwhelmed, as a great deal to me used to be buy 2 used games get one free at Best Buy, which meant you were typically paying 30-50 bucks for three games. I remember buying Fallout 3 GOTY used for 20 bucks or something, then a few months later getting my first real gaming pc and buying it on sale for 5. It was such a shock to the system. This meant I bought some titles that weren't quite as good of deals in the context of PC gaming because EVERYTHING seemed like a great deal.

That limit is not really a great deal breaker, but is there. I'm sure I have some games with that same limitations in my library.

I was reading some reviews and some said the servers are offline:

Great game. but boring due to servers being down for AGES. Only reason i'm not recommending. I WILL recommend when this is sorted. Get the ps3 or Xbox 360 version if you want multiplayer to function

Eh the servers go offline every once in a while but I've never seen it down for longer than a day. Usually if the servers down I just go and play any of the other hundreds of other games I have in my backlog. Also console peasants don't get the unoffical patch, so screw that.

I bought my copy off Amazon so I can't tell you how many hours I've spent exactly but it's gotta be pretty close to the triple digit range. At $5 it's a steal.
