The Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate new 3DS XL comes pre-loaded with the game so, according to Nintendo, "you can just plug and play!". Uhh….

Actually, I might have to eat my words on that...

Y'all know this one doesn't actually come with the game right?

Nintendo! Tricking your parents since 2009!

Yeah, now that my initial euphoria has worn off, I think that I'm going to pass on the New XL since I have Xenoblade on Wii and can't justify the "upgrade". If we were getting the cheaper standard New 3DS (i.e., non-XL) with the colored buttons and custom faceplates that several people report is akin to the DS Lite (one of my favorite portable systems), I might have considered it, but no, apparently Nintendo hates Americans.

Seriously though, Nintendo keeps getting dumber.  Amiibos reset if going to a new game?  No power cord for a new system?  What kind of money grubbing bullshit is that?

The only new game I saw announced that interested me was that Elliot Quest 8-bit Cave Story looking thing, but that's already PC so I assume will come to us eventually.  I used to defend Nintendo against the likes of Sony, but this shit just dum.

So glad I traded my 3DS in for a Vita.

One can hold out hope that they release the "new 3DS" here at some point. Maybe they are going to split the release up, and we get XL first. I guess I'll wait and see.

I tried finding articles on this no power cord thing for the new 3ds and its surprisingly hard to find any real complaints.  I saw one site where half the posts were defending Nintendo and claiming they are saving the environment (lol) and that the MSRP will be less then normal.

Is the new 3DS MSRP less than usual?  I would highly doubt the cable has anything to do with that.

So with a power cord it would be $219 or $209. fucking blind fanboys.

Nope--$199.99.

As Gator put it (IIRC): Same sh*t, different week.

Since I'm not sure if y'all saw my post about it yesterday or not, or you just don't care, I'll post again that the F2P Fat Princess match 3 game that just came out lets you unlock a code for the regular original PS3 Fat Princess.  Have to beat 15 levels or something like that to get it.  I already unlocked it playing the iOS one, so if anyone wants my code when I get there, they are welcome to it.

Is Nintendo having financial trouble in NA or something? First they don't really comment on removing region-locking, then they basically ignore requests to make more Wii U Gamecube Adapters and out-of-print Amiibos, and now they (temporarily?) don't give us the standard New 3DS and exclude AC adapters for no apparent reason.

To top it all off, there's still no new Metroid. WHERE'S MY 3DS METROID

As someone who has dealt with production of electronic devices in large scale, the power cords really cost them next to nothing in terms of money. However, on a large volume product like that, they will make millions in profits due to leaving it out.

At my last job we made a design change because it would save us a nickel per device. When you are selling 2 million devices per quarter like we were, it was worth it.

In this case, they get the double advantage of not only making tons more by leaving it out, they will make huge stacks of cash off the metric fuck ton of them that they sell at astronomical profit margins.

Things like this is why nobody should question why Nintendo is still in business.

Sure, I'll take it. It has trophies, right?

Doing a little research, Nintendo started the no AC adapter with the 3DS XL release in Europe and Japan.  So it's nothing new for them.  Apparently the Americans are :hot:

Whoop, never mind on the AC adapter aspect. I still want a new Metroid, though, DANG IT!

Yeah, I get why Nintendo does it and I guess we are just asking the wrong question then.

Why is everyone so fuck ing dumb that they keep buying Nintendo consoles. Oh yeah, Pokemon.

Out of everything Nintendo could have discussed today, I'm actually a bit surprised they didn't at least mention that they have more Pokemon mainstream games set for this fall. I guess there's always E3.

That's a shitty comparison. Instead of getting screwed through Amiibos (if you buy into them to begin with) and an AC Power Cord, you get screwed on memory cards. 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

It was also announced that the new 3DS uses a micro SD card instead of the standard one. I'm sure kids won't ever lose those.

Sensible post. It's pretty obvious why they left it out. Not defending it but, come on. My Kindle and Nook didn't come with chargers either. My Vita didn't come with onboard memory.

Good point on memory cards. But I was more talking about the lack of games that interest me on 3DS vs all the ones that do on Vita. The Amiibo thing was just talking out loud about dumness.

The difference to me is that Vita never had built in memory to begin with. Other than the 1GB.

It still sucks, but a power cord is something you have to have and always have had in every console. And they wont charge with regular USB.

If any Club Nintendo members in this thread get a demo code for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in your email and don't want it, I could make use of it. I haven't tried MH since my PSP days, and I'm at least curious to see if it'll hold my interest.

Not to mention we're not getting the standard New 3DS. Sorry, jkam.
It's as if the top brass gets together :grouphug: over at Nintendo and thinks up the craziest bullshit they can and just go 100% forward with it. No new smaller 3DS in the US? No power supply? fuck you hard Nintendo. :bomb: The worst part is they are back to making money again, which honestly I wish they would continue to lose money so they would have to actually make some smart moves instead of batshit stupid ones.

I'm only down to a single 3DS XL now and no other Nintendo consoles in my house. The only reason I've really been holding on to it is because I have all the ambassador games, some DSiware I've moved over, and Starfox 64 (updated version) on it. I've also been trying to play catch up on Zeldas. I finished Ocarina for the first time on it. I want to play Majora's when it launches but this is really getting annoying as fuck.

I havent spent money on a nintendo product since the DS lite I had that I got one of those ace card things that let you play hundreds of games at once.

Finished up Counter Spy last night. Fun game overall, controls occasionally get finicky when you're trying to shoot though. Vita load times kinda suck. Gonna try loading my game on PS4 though and seeing what the difference in load time/frame rate would be.

vita console w/1gb flash memory, borderlands 2, 8gb memory card, power cord = $200(ignoring a bunch of recent sales for $170 and less)

new 3ds, 4gb micro sd card = $200 + cost of power cord

am i missing something?

how are you getting screwed? you don't need a big memory card in the same vein that you don't need amiibos. an 8gb card will let you play any game you want including any dlc/updates. you may have to shuffle some titles, but you'd have to do the same thing if you were going digital on the 3ds with the small memory card they include. if the vita didn't include a charger, people would have reamed sony for it.

any device powered by an internal battery not having a charger included is stupid. i don't care if every device in the world uses the same charger. i shouldn't have to buy an extra charger to use a device i just paid 100s of dollars for. also, wth does vita onboard memory have to do with devices not having a charger?

I WANT TO LIKE THIS!

This indie developer that started following me on Twitter had a nice little dig this morning:

The BL2 bundle came with an 8GB card and people still bitched about that (unjustifiably.) You'd think people would flip their shit about the 3DS not including the proprietary charger, but I'm sure people will act like it's worse that the Vita doesn't come with a giant memory card.

#nintendocandonowrong

3DS talk aside, how about them finally releasing Wii games for download on Wii U? This doesn't get my particularly excited since I already own pretty much every Wii game I want already and am trying to avoid getting an external HD, but the fact that you will be able to download Metroid Prime for $10 is pretty great (though that is a sale price and it seems like Wii games will regularly be $20.. another fail).
