Also, apparently if you fill a board where all the purple are Doom trap tiles, then Patch will not create any Enemy Purple Strike tiles when using his Green! That is awesome as I was already thinking of having Doom replace Falcon on my Patch/Blade combo. I think Patch/Blade/Doom would be better against Enemies (what do we call the non-goons?) But yeah and then Patch/Blade/Falcon will still dominate goons.
Yeah, apparently the computer considers your traps as special tiles and will not overwrite them. This applies to every trap character - saw it in action during Enemy of the State, ran X-Force/Daken/Daredevil, and my match 3 greens wouldn't do anything when the red on the board had a mixture of Ambush traps and strike tiles.
I tend to call non-goons 'named characters'.
I run with a Laken/X-force/Falcon combo but tried out doom which worked pretty well. No one uses Red so strike & attack tiles remain on board for extra damage. However I did run into a problem. Though my blue on doom is relatively weak, I think maybe 2 now? It converts blue tiles to black. Lack of blue tiles on board leads to heat damaging daken.
Yeah, as much as I wish otherwise, Daken and Doom do not work well with each other. Either you are filling up the red tiles with strikes before you get enough black to kick off Summon Demons, or you turn all the blue to black and start killing your own character.
One possible cover mix is 3/5/5, and make him a support character for someone who needs black - he has extra health to last the fight and probably cover blue/purple tiles, something useful to do with the black if you lose your primary, and if you get a purple board, start being diabolical.
But for overall power in a vacuum, probably 5/3/5 or 5/5/3. I don't see the point to 4 covers in blue as a final state, so I don't get 4/4/5. Either maximize your damage output from gathering AP yourself or try to speed your way to Demons.
I suspect I won't make a decision until I see my fourth purple cover, but I think I'm going to start running him with Patch in PvE to see if he's more effective than Loki at mitigating purple strike tiles and get a feel for his new power. Without boosts or lucky cascades, the Patch/Loki combo requires 7 match-threes to collect enough green and black. If you focus on purple over black, on a perfect board you block the purple strikes to begin with, and have a heavy punch to go with those green strikes. Still, you miss out on the free defensive tiles instead, but perhaps that's not as important.
