I (fortunately? unfortunately?) had my musical awakening during the hey day of the hair metal era, so Bon Jovi was one of my staples. Of course those songs are kinda ridiculous now, but back then they were the bee's pajamas. Poison was my main jam though. Listening to that stuff now, Bon Jovi sounds less corny than most of those bands. I don't listen to it much anymore, but once in awhile I'll get into a mood where I listen to only hair metal for like three days straight.

I grew up in New Jersey where everyone LOVES Bruce Springstein and Bon Jovi simply because they are from there (that logic doesn't make sense to me). Probably for that reason I can't stand either. There are a handful of songs from both that I suppose I like, but they are both so corny to me. Bruce in particular I've heard is amazing to see live. But I've seen videos (and they played the super bowl once, right?) and I just don't get it. Bunch of guys on stage being all smiley and getting in each others faces... I guess liking the music is a prerequisite for finding those concerts amazing. To me 3+ hours of that sounds torturous.

I grew up in the 80s. Had a poster of GnR on the wall. Tapes of Whitesnake, White Lion, Great White. Who doesn't love White bands!

 
I lived in Madison, WI for a few years. Garbage was super popular there since that's where the band was based out of. None of the people in the band actually grew up there, though, so it's even weirder. One guy was born in WI, but not even in Madison. He did go to UW, though.

Same thing here in MN with Prince, and to a lesser extent, Trampled by Turtles. Prince is basically a god here and leads the local news whenever he as a show or whatever else going on.

 
I don't know how you guys hate all hair bands, there's plenty of good ones with good music back then. As for Bruce....he's a bit overhyped but that's probably my bias due to my future mother in law having a big obsession with him...

Poison was so awesome. That was my first concert, with Tesla opening. CC Deville was the worst guitar player ever (although he did improve). I just remember they started Fallen Angel, my favorite Poison song at the time, and CC was on the wrong fret when he started the lick so the whole thing started awful for the first 30 seconds or so. But that Rikki Rockett drummer dude was no joke.

That'll be hilarious if Windows 10 is a subscription like Office365. But maybe they do mean free. Apple has been giving away OS X upgrades for free for a few years. Maybe they are matching that (almost, since OS X upgrade free-ness doesn't expire)

It's too bad Sony dropped the ball on the PSP emulator. If they'd written it to run PSP games at native Vita resolution the games would have aged so much better. Here's 3rd Birthday running at 720p on the Nexus 7. Vita runs at 544p, but I couldn't find a sample at that:

I'll still probably pick up 3rd Birthday in the sale. I've been curious about it for a while. Any knowledge of the Parasite Eve games necessary? I've not played those and generally am not willing to bother with 3d PS1 games, so probably never will.

What games are you guys playing over RP, anyway? I played a couple but that was in the house on my Vita. Even with that I could notice a bit of lag.

I attempted to RP from work but the firewall shot me down.

Have you done remote play vita/ps4 from your office or do you work from home? It works well when I am home, but I tried it at a neighbors house and couldnt get it to work.

Uh, no. Gaming without an actual set of physical controls is nothing like playing on the Vita. Granted you could use a controller with the tablet, but that touch-based controller emulation stuff is absolutely horrible.

 
Also, just got the plat for Lego Batman 3 Vita last night. Anyone want to buy it?

Just the house. I've seen people have success with it outside of the house, but I think it's hard to find adequate free Wi-Fi when I'm out and about so I've never tried.
 
So because of our great discussion this morning (and because I'm so easy), I put on the Hair Bands playlist on Songza for my afternoon testing activities.  And no joke, second song that comes on is "Blaze of Glory".

I had been watching that Walmart.com stuff go down last night and didn't bother since the last time they had price errors on their site I got everything cancelled. So Amazon pricematching anything this morning is awesome.

Will have to decide on MH4 after playing the demo. Maybe try to PM it at Best Buy.

Went OOS pretty soon after you posted this. If I can't get a PM when it is in stock, I have no chance now. Oh well, such is my life with things like this. At least I got in on the Uncharted 4 pre-order, but to be fair that's not the same because I can just do that all by myself without needing a rep's help.

I think they just mean Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for 1 year as in you have a year before you have to pay for the upgrade. I would assume they want to do the same thing that Apple already does to try and get as many people as possible on the new OS. A lot of people kept XP for a long time (and some probably gasp still have it without security updates). This will force people to upgrade because "Hey, I can get it for free!"
