I don't know if im easily pissoffable or what, but I am not really digging this first Castlevania Lords of Shadow game. I'm only on the second chapter, which is soooooo fuuuuucking loooooooong. And the lady that tells me what to do over and over needs to not do that.

Plus, where's the damn Castlevania type baddies? I have goblins and Titans and trolls and hairy beast things. Is this Harry Potter or LOTR or GoW? I don't think it knows.

I'll stick it out because maybe I just suck tonight.

That game is long as fuck.  It's about twice as long as it needs to be.  Would have been fun if it was 11 hours.

I hated that game. Also hated Dante's Inferno so that just ended up being a bad year for me when it comes to those third person action games. Both games felt like a chore to play and I quickly gave up on both of them (were rentals, thankfully)

Looking at Aqua Kitty and I think I'll save my $3. Looks like a poor man's Resogun. Plus it seems like another game that didn't get past the "hey look, it's retro looking" stage and put some good gameplay behind it.

I think the only person that loves reading their own bloated too long unnecessary writing more than the lore/script writers in Castlevia:LoS is the douche canoe that wrote the guide on IGN.

Holy hell.

The story, atmosphere, and musical score are where the game shines the most. If you're not feeling it, you may as well quit now. The gameplay is solid but borrows heavily from a lot of other games so there's probably nothing you haven't seen before there. The ledge climbing was the only thing that really bothered me though; way too much of it to the point that I would groan when I saw a section of it coming.

All in all a good game and one of my favorites that year.

Yeah there is way to much ledging. I'd rather fight monsters than climb all over tarnation.

Maybe if this game wasn't called Castlevania I wouldn't have had such lofty expectations. Besides the cross-whip thing, it doesn't feel like it should be called that at all.

I think a lot of people had trouble calling this game "Castlevania", but with it being a prequel a lot of what you're talking about didn't bother me that much. I thought it did a nice job of setting the stage for the series.

And if you think there's too much climbing now, just wait until you reach later levels.

6 hrs 35 mins for my 2nd playthrough of Infamous: Second Son. What a mistake.
And took another hour and 15 mins to pick up the last 3 trophies. Sign spinner took over 30 mins of running around the city.

What a colossal waste of a Friday night. I could have been significantly into Saints Row 4. I won't be replaying a game for a plat for a long time.

I started my Infamous SS expert/evil playthrough earlier. I've played 4 hours, am about 40% done and have my Neon power. Instead of rushing through the story like I should my OCD is making me clear all the areas. I'm having fun doing it so it's not a big deal. The same happened during my 2nd Infamous 1 playthrough. Plus I figure collecting shards and upgrading my powers will be helpful later in the game. I should have the game finished hopefully by Sunday night. Then I'll take a break before starting First Light.

You played that straight through? You're a maniac.

I did preview your stream last night right after you started. You were hopping around those rocks to get to the party house or whatever, and I saw you switch to easy mode. How did you feel about the Good vs Evil powers with Good on Expert and Evil on Easy? I'm playing the reverse and so far the Evil powers don't feel like they're as powerful. Good getting the prolonged time slow for Neon, for example, made Evil feel weak in comparison even though the headshot executions are easier to pull off than the leg subdues.

I see both sides, but I dig the game overall. I'm a big fan of both CV and God of War clones, so I have no issues with the premise or execution of the game, other than what Topside and Tyler mentioned.

Dammit zimm. Listen to Top. Lords of shadow was awesome. Just think of it as LoS and not "Castlevania". The music setting and story were cool to me. But I am a sucker for God of War style action games too.

Just don't bother with LoS 2. Yuck. Unless you want that sweet trophy card. Flowing hair for the win.

Am I the only one that didn't think MS fucked up with any of the poll options? The only one I could consider is Minecraft due to the purchase price, but it is far too early to call it a fuck up. Minecraft is the new Pokemon for a segment of the new generation of gamers. Kids eat that shit up and the merchandise aspect seems to be doing well. I thought it was a good long term move to lock that up.

The holiday firesale was needed. The Halo launch should have been smoother, sure, but they aren't alone with struggling in the new gen, and I've got some buddies that haven't had too many issues. I'm also going to never crucify a company for correcting a mistake, so removing the Kinect is a non issue for me. Blame them for touting it as essential, sure, but I'm not going to slam them for finally giving the gamers a choice on what type of experience they want.

Glad to see a lot of asshole getting shadow warrior. Just don't bother with the demolition man trophy. Its my rarest trophy. I want to keep it that way assholes!

Damn. Take a night to get sloppy drunk and come back to one of the best sales we've had in awhile. Plus 10% off! Definitely in for Shadow Warrior. Mulling Futuridium, killallzombies (though I think I remember some pretty bad reviews for that), and Rollers of the Realms. Oh yeah, and what is Speakeasy? Anyone have opinions on any of these? Disclaimer: I haven't read the last several pages of posts so I'm sorry if these have been discussed at length.

The weird thing about Brothers is that every single trophy is for a single collectible/action. I wasn't trying to get trophies when I played it and just went through the game normally. Didn't get a single trophy. Kind of frustrating now, having that 0%, because I have absolutely no desire to replay the game. It was very unique and a good game, but...not one I'd want to revisit.

Infamous: SS is gorgeous. Wonder if your opinion will change when you get to that.
Already platted Second Son. Tomb Raider looks much better in my opinion.

WTF Spec Ops, impossible wave after impossible wave with a crappy checkpoint and cover system is not a fun way to spend a Saturday morning. I love shitty 3rd person action games as much as the next man, but I'm only on Suicide mode, not even FUBAR yet and it is taking me hours to clear these last several chapters.

I don't know about the others really but shadow warrior is of course the best.

I 9am getting killallzombies just cause it looks like a quick twin stick shooter.

I agree with you that MS is doing what they can to right the wrongs, but putting themselves in that position to begin with is what the poll options are getting at. MS can do whatever they can to fix things but it doesn't change the fact that they made some questionable decisions to put themselves there. I think the MInecraft acquisition was stupid and shortsighted but only time will tell. Maybe it will pay off, but I don't see it having anywhere near the staying power as something like Pokémon.

I don't fault any of you that have an Xbone or those of you that still support them with your 360s, but personally I'm disgusted with MS. The PR leading up to the Xbone launch was a huge mess and a slap in the face to gamers. Now that the consumers have spoken with their wallets, MS is trying to fix the mess and get back in their good graces. I don't plan on forgetting the changes they tried to impose on the industry anytime soon. They got greedy and reached too far.

You mad or naw?

So I didn't realize the PSN claim was if you just had a PSN account by May of 2011. I had my PSP Go in 2010 so it looks like I was eligible. I didn't claim anything with the "Welcome Back" program so I filled out the form for 2 games. The list was light on what I already had so I got Syphon Filter Dark Mirror and Invizimals. Now when is the Vita $$$ rolling in?

Honestly though I almost feel bad sometimes, I feel like out of the big 3 Sony is the best with continuing to give us games. I can't imagine how people dislike Sony at this point. They have ups and downs but between sales, plus, and freebies we are all rolling in a mountain of games at this point.

Up to Chapter 20 in Uncharted 3.
Walking in the desert, was that really the section everyone complained about so much? Didn't seem so bad and made sense in the story.

After watching some gameplay videos Roller of the Realms is the only one I'm really considering (in addition to Shadow Warrior). Though Aqua Kitty looks pretty funny. That wasn't on my radar at all. Anyone checked that out?

Amen to that brother!

*goes to play the same geometry wars level for the 600th time this week*

Pete, if it makes you feel any better I'm hitting a wall with Woah Dave too.... at least your wall is more fun to bang your head against.
I'm actually still having fun with geometry wars, but I'd be happy to be done. I did play woah dave for like 2 hours last night and barely did any better than what I started with, so I guess I was right to have quit when I did. It's honestly not a bad twitchy little 80s arcade wannabe, but I sure do hate it with every fiber of my being.

Edit - I absolutely refuse to let geometry wars be vanquish all over again. Owl was right, I should've never put it down.

Plat #4 for the month. I had the same experience as Tyler, finished the game then had to go hunting for more sign flippers and musicians. I'd been pretty aggressive about knocking those out whenever they spawned during my evil playthrough, but they just spawn quite a bit less than protesters and cops for some reason.

I already knew how the evil ending went, but damn, they did such a bad job of handling that. The whole evil playthrough was half-assed. It's weird that they handled the characters so much better in 1 and 2 and completely dropped the ball in 3. They clearly spent a lot of time making the game pretty and giving a variety of movement options, but they also did a bad job balancing the powers. I'm hoping the next game they don't have to change the SS engine much and can spend more time on polishing characterization, narrative, and the powers.

And that they'll take out the goddamn eaves everywhere. Jesus fucking christ.

What would make it more awesome is if all games, not just adventurer, counted for the million geoms. I'm still got over half a mill left.

Have you gotten past the 1.2 mill yet on that level. I've been trying to get up at 4am to help but my body just isn't meant to wake up at that time.

I just tried a bit of most wanted with randoms. Since they want to finish races it might take a lot longer plus you still need to take down a friend online anyway. So we def should try and pair up. Unless you want to do it legit on your own.

Also I will be home alone for a week from Sunday to Thursday night. And I have a few days off. I plan on finishing most wanted and tackling south park. Plus should I have time I will tryout some of the smaller games i will pickup through the sale.

Oh and I might finish off dead nation for the second time. I Will be holding off a few of you on tt a little while longer.

Ran through a big chunk of SS Evil story. Just finished getting all the 3rd power upgrades. I'll knock out the rest of the story + plat in the morning.

The game is more fun the second run, for the most part, due to not doing the tedious collection stuff. That just wasn't done very well in SS.
That's why the player created mission that collected all the shards for you in Infamous 2 was so glorious, it cut out like 80% of the collectible nonsense in 10 minutes.

Speaking of Infamous and Tomb Raider; one thing I really liked in the Infamous 1 that was missing in 2 and SS was the tower climb. 1 had a lot of really huge jumps/hovers and playing it had me holding my breath and feeling a bit queasy at the height. It really felt like you were scaling an enormous tower and the setup definitely set you up for a punishing fall if you messed up. 2 didn't have anything close to that and SS had I think 2-3 easy jumps in Augustine's tower but nothing else. Tomb Raider had that for sure, though, between the comparative fragility of Lara and the mountains and towers to scale. I'm tempted to replay TR since I played it on PC before and am curious how the Definitive Edition compares graphically. Probably won't soon, if only because of the annoying online trophies and the SP story being about 1/3 longer than it should have been, but I'm pretty sure I'll revisit the game at some point.

Yep. While I'm glad they took out UGC, I definitely did like that part of my Evil Expert walkthrough. That and the trophy-geared UGCs like the kill x civilians, complete y # of UGC missions, etc., were very helpful.

Yeah, had three in a row this morning that were over 1.3m. I'm just a lucky break away from being done.
