Am I the only one that didn't think MS fucked up with any of the poll options? The only one I could consider is Minecraft due to the purchase price, but it is far too early to call it a fuck up. Minecraft is the new Pokemon for a segment of the new generation of gamers. Kids eat that shit up and the merchandise aspect seems to be doing well. I thought it was a good long term move to lock that up.
Difference between it and Pokemon is they can create some new levels, tweak a few things, add a few extra pokemon and then release it again at $40 a pop and people will buy it. The problem with Minecraft is how to monetize further the existing customer base as they are accustomed to free upgrades with more features, not sequels to the game that you have to rebuy for $20-30 dollars. Selling the same game across multiple platforms will help slow that decay as super fans buy more than one version, but eventually they will run out of new customers.

It's part of the reason PC sales exploded for several decades and then tapered off. It got to the point that there was much less a % difference in power between the old model and the new model so people continue to use the old model for years and years and the store runs out of new customers. Tablets are hot now, but eventually the same thing will happen, they will run out of new customers to sell to and sales will slow.

WTF Spec Ops, impossible wave after impossible wave with a crappy checkpoint and cover system is not a fun way to spend a Saturday morning. I love shitty 3rd person action games as much as the next man, but I'm only on Suicide mode, not even FUBAR yet and it is taking me hours to clear these last several chapters.
Ya, it's probably not a good idea to start out on Suicide right from the start unless you are REALLY good at shooters as the game is pretty challenging even on normal difficulty. Where are you stuck? Probably the boats or The Bridge.

I don't plan on forgetting the changes they tried to impose on the industry anytime soon. They got greedy and reached too far.
And what's worse, is the exact same thing happened the previous generation. Sony got too greedy and reached too far because they were so dominant with the PS2 that they face planted hard at launch with that humongous price tag allowing Microsoft to rocket into the lead for several years. They, like Sony, thought because they were so dominant the last generation that they could do whatever they want with the Xbone and still dominate.

I just tried a bit of most wanted with randoms. Since they want to finish races it might take a lot longer plus you still need to take down a friend online anyway. So we def should try and pair up. Unless you want to do it legit on your own.
You are not penalized for just ignoring the race and doing your own thing. Once everyone but 1 or 2 have finished like 30-40 seconds later you will be disqualified (but you will still get credit for completing the event) and then it will move on to the next event. You will probably also need to pair up with a friend to do the custom speedlist as I have never been able to find an option to change a private, friend-only game you create into a public game that other people can join.

To be fair, the PS3 was priced that high because it was super expensive to make at first. It had the PS2 hardware internally for BC and the PS3 also launched the BluRay format. Either of those could be debated as a good move, and the BC component obviously was a decision they regretted. The PS3 still cost Sony money for each unit over the first few years.

MS deciding that every gamer needs a camera is, IMO, a very different situation from the PS3 launch. Not only was the Kinect a lot less likely to win gamer appeal and a feel of necessity, but the XB1 was making MS money right from the first unit. They were arrogant because they decided first what the gamer would need and second that the gamer would want it so much that MS wouldn't need to take a hit to make the sale.

Demons Gaze question:

Is there any sort of spell or item that lets you warp back to the inn for healing and resurrection? I worry I may have backed myself into a corner.

Main character learns a spell called return door. It's in the special tab, iirc. Bottom tab of the skill menu. Or a mirror of return item. I always carry at least 2 mirrors, just in case.

Edit: it's in the sprt spell tab.

Also here's the multiplayer trophy checklist again, you can ignore the DLC section if you are playing the Vita version as the DLC is only for PS3.

I haven't gotten a cancellation yet. I feel like I got my order in the first 20 minutes or so, though.
Mine hasn't been canceled yet, I thought I would wake up to one. Maybe it'll go through! If I do somehow still get mine, all these cancellations will end up being positive. Less of them on the market if/when I decide to sell mine.

Plat #4 for the month. I had the same experience as Tyler, finished the game then had to go hunting for more sign flippers and musicians. I'd been pretty aggressive about knocking those out whenever they spawned during my evil playthrough, but they just spawn quite a bit less than protesters and cops for some reason.

I already knew how the evil ending went, but damn, they did such a bad job of handling that. The whole evil playthrough was half-assed. It's weird that they handled the characters so much better in 1 and 2 and completely dropped the ball in 3. They clearly spent a lot of time making the game pretty and giving a variety of movement options, but they also did a bad job balancing the powers. I'm hoping the next game they don't have to change the SS engine much and can spend more time on polishing characterization, narrative, and the powers.

And that they'll take out the goddamn eaves everywhere. Jesus fucking christ.
I thought the whole 2nd playthrough was pretty pointless. It was basically the exact same thing with the most minimal of changes. If you're gonna make a person play through a game twice, at least make it worth their while.

ohhhh it has to be in the same car!
That what it said originally when I looked it up online, but after actually playing it I think it meant the same car type. So like max distance smashed with muscle cars, max distance with exotics, etc as I saw plenty of boards to smash with faces on them of folks who have the vita version on my friends list, even though I was driving a DLC car. Either that or it works differently in multiplayer.

If you are having difficulty in single player playing online first is definitely the way to go as I have unlocked a ton of cars in multiplayer that I can now use to play in singleplayer (which I haven't even started yet). As you level up your speed rank even if you come in last place in events and that unlocks some cars in single player.

I agree with you that MS is doing what they can to right the wrongs, but putting themselves in that position to begin with is what the poll options are getting at. MS can do whatever they can to fix things but it doesn't change the fact that they made some questionable decisions to put themselves there. I think the MInecraft acquisition was stupid and shortsighted but only time will tell. Maybe it will pay off, but I don't see it having anywhere near the staying power as something like Pokémon.

I don't fault any of you that have an Xbone or those of you that still support them with your 360s, but personally I'm disgusted with MS. The PR leading up to the Xbone launch was a huge mess and a slap in the face to gamers. Now that the consumers have spoken with their wallets, MS is trying to fix the mess and get back in their good graces. I don't plan on forgetting the changes they tried to impose on the industry anytime soon. They got greedy and reached too far.
I agree with a lot of that. I know you weren't directing this just at me, but just for the sake of the discussion, let me disclose that I am a 100% purebred Sony Pony. I pretty much changed to PS3 as my primary console by 2010 and I think the last game I played and beat on a MS console was at the end of 2012 when Dust: An Elysian Tail came out.

So my comments on their recent events are just that, not from personal experience or bias, just an observation.

Infamous 2 handled the 2nd playthrough far better, but we've pretty much already established that.

Yeah. I was expecting a huge rift between Delsin and his brother to start shaping up pretty early. That just got ignored, though. It was pretty bizarre.

I never did play Infamous 1 on Evil, but in 2 Cole wasn't Evil. Not really. He just chose the more selfish of two shitty options. It was an understandable decision. Delsin never had a reason shown for why he hated normal humans. Everything that happened in the game was the fault of Augustine and the DUP, neither of which is normal. The normal humans whined about bio-terrorists...and that's all they did to him. Having him hate them for that just made the whole thing feel pointless and stupid.

The only MP trophies I have left are the custom Speedlist and 3 Pro mods ones. I'm up for helping people out anytime this weekend so just let me know if you wanna have a go.

Anybody playing or planning to play Demon Gaze should be aware of this very helpful spreadsheet:

Thanks to you both. I'm enjoying it so far (only unlocked the second dungeon, and just took down Mars.)

I'll definatley be playing it with the sound turned down or headphones with my personal music in since I can't stand the "ugh" voices each time you bump into a wall.

At the Penguin boss battle in Batman Blackgate. I seem to have skipped a bunch according to the IGN walk through.

I see both sides, but I dig the game overall. I'm a big fan of both CV and God of War clones, so I have no issues with the premise or execution of the game, other than what Topside and Tyler mentioned.
Dammit zimm. Listen to Top. Lords of shadow was awesome. Just think of it as LoS and not "Castlevania". The music setting and story were cool to me. But I am a sucker for God of War style action games too.
Just don't bother with LoS 2. Yuck. Unless you want that sweet trophy card. Flowing hair for the win.
I usually love GoW clones as well, but something just feels off to me. Like the combos aren't as cool or something. Or the bloated levels. Maybe the Castlevania name is what I need to remove from my head. Like I said, I'll keep at it. Just disappointed so far.

Have you messed with the auto-movement yet? Once you've gotten a few more levels and a better party that will come into play more, but it's fantastic.

George is actually my next target. I don't go after the guys that have climbed over me, just kind of try and keep place. The reason they've climbed over me is because they play more, so makes it hard to beat them.
Does anyone have Sound Shapes for every region and could I timeshare them?

Aqua kitty is so far my favorite game out of the sale. Fairly simple game but it does it does it well. Glad it went on sale as I was not going to pay $15 for it.

I have one for gator. So far in at pace so looks good for me. I'll probably overtake him in oh 3 years.

Yeah that's how I'm looking at it. Although as it appears to get more and more rare, my desire to keep it increases. Unless it starts going for like $500+. Then that thing is fucking gone.

You need to realize that Robert Carlyle (Gabriel) and Patrick Stewart (Zobek) make all of your complaints moot.

RPG playing peeps,

Is it a reasonable expectation for a game with a huge world to have one giant overall map showing how all the individual maps/areas that you go to are connected so you can find your way back to a place you need to go? Or am I just a soft wussy wuss?

I'd enjoy these later parts Citizens of Earth so much more if I knew how to get to where I need to go instead of wandering around aimlessly.

I thought Gabriel sounded familiar, never realized it was him. But a Belmont with a heavy Scottish accent is another thing that screams "this is not Castlevania" to me. And while Stewart's narration work is top notch, he's given too much to say. I know it's hiding loading screen and all. I think I'm just becoming an ornery impatient old curmudgeon.

Oh nice, I now have a higher score on TrueTrophies than TrueAchievements.
Trophies are super over-valued compared to Achievements on those sites. I wish they had found a way to standardize it better. My average trophy is worth 34 points and my average achievement is worth 22.

Pm me when he gets within a couple hundred, ill see what I can do.

Edit: You need to get a ps4 George.
A couple hundred? Since he would get all 4 games that would be about 12k points if memory serves. Although I am not sure what Tyler is talking about here since George doesn't seem to be on either leaderboard for some reason.

He could give his account info to someone who had them, but I wouldn't suggest doing that.

He's on my friends list on there.

I was on a few leaderboards for awhile but I started playing less games due to personal reasons. The PS4 being released didn't help my gamesharing activities on the PS3 either. I only added myself on TT so a few guys had something to shoot for since there was such a huge gap at the top.

I'd say so, or I would at least expect some sort of warping mechanic.

There's a kind of warping mechanic, but it's not precise and sometimes takes you to a place that makes the actual area you want to go to inaccessible from where you land. So not very helpful mostly.
