Did any of you guys play Final Fantasy 9? It doesn't seem like it otherwise, it would clearly be in this discussion.

I enjoyed all the Final Fantasys to be honest. Just not 13, I couldn't finish that game.
Oh, we've played it.

It's good. It is like they took every FF before it and made a highlight reel. I enjoy it, but it is not on the level of some others.

Yeah I'm hopelessly behind. Got the Uncharted & inFamous dual packs w/ my PS3, and I'm just now getting around to the sequels. Well technically I started inFamous 2 awhile ago, but got distracted by other shiny games. All the talk here about the series has me jonesing to get back to it though.
Uncharted, Infamous and God of War is like the Holy Trinity of PS3 games to me.

This always makes me smile

Ill throw down:

God of War 3

Uncharted 2

Far Cry 3

inFamous 2 (if being a decent chunk into the game is OK, otherwise I'll revise this last one).
Great list. I almost put down UC2 instead of Alice Returns but I just started American McGee's Alice and feel like I'll want to continue on to MR afterwards. If I don't feel like MR then I'll swap in UC2 instead.

Since you guys also seem to want to start another long FF discussion. My favorite and clearly the best is 3/6. But I also really liked 12.

#suckit
I'm waiting for them to do a HD/PC release of 12. I'd like to play it.

I tried playing 9 on my Vita. It's painfully slow from a gameplay, story, and dialogue perspective. I'm about at the end of disc one. I'll get back to it because I'm hoping that it moves more towards being combat-focused (which isn't too bad) and away from the stuff I'm not liking as much.

Alright, I'll make an actual 4-game list:

Shadow of Mordor (main quests)

Rollers of the Realm

Infamous First Light

The Walking Dead Season 1 (Vita)

I doubt I'll complete it, but there you go.

You just reminded me of the asshole final battle in Rollers of the Realm. It's a dirty asshole, round and brown.

I think it's against the CAG bi-laws to have a "Which is the best FF?" discussion when there isn't a FF sale on the store.
Should be a FF sale here soon. Might start tomorrow. Last year it was on 1/22, year before it was 2/4, year before it was 1/25. So we'll see.

Yeah, I doubt I'm going to finish it because I've already gotten to hit-them-500-times enemies. Or at least it feels that way, and there's a long way to go. Still, it's not horrible and I'm playing it, so yeah.

So pretty much everything other than the combat? FFIX isn't an action-RPG, Therm.

FFT was great, yeah. I still need to go back for WotL. I've only played the PS1 version so far.

Of the FF games I've played, I think only 10 has combat I enjoyed more than FFT. (From 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, FFT, 9, and 10.)  10's battle and sphere grid systems were fantastic.

I have none, but definitely want to do the same some day. Which was the toughest?
Ascension. Because it was my least favorite and the Trials of Archimedes was a righteous bitch. I played through it the first time on normal pre patch and it was more difficult than Hard was after the patch.

I don't mind the characters in IX. But yeah they focused too heavily on the story and not enough of the gameplay in IX, at least from what I've played of it. Instead of running around killing things I'm wasting my time walking from place to place to talk to character after character; if you're not going to let me kill stuff, just show all that in a long dialogue section that properly sets up the next part of the game. Don't make me act out a bunch of tedious nonsense to get to the fun part. It's a game, not a movie.

Story and narrative are important in games, but the delivery method needs to be fun as well. FF9 hasn't managed that for me so far.

That will really depend on the person. All the challenges are going to vary wildly in opinion on what was the hardest.

I had almost forgotten about the Vita remakes. I could get 2 more plats from the God of War series. Those and Uncharted: GA are the only 3 I need to have all the plats in all 3 of those series. I just wish Uncharted 2 and 3 didnt add all that damn DLC.

I don't have any for the UC series either, but plan to get them all someday. Goddamn Nolan North, first Uncharted and now Spec Ops. I just can't quit him.

Alright, I'm in for infamous 2 if you're doing it. That'd make my list:

Infamous 2
Rogue Legacy
NFS Most Wanted
SF4 (online trophies finished)

Yeah it varies like anything. I never felt like any of the challenges were all that hard. Some sections of the main games were always harder to me than any of the challenges. Yet I used to read all kinds of comments from people trying some challenge hundreds of times even after they watch or read a guide on it.

Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate may swap in for any of my four since I'll likely get that during commuting times this month, even though I'm half way through already.
After what seems like forever, I finally beat all the levels in the first area. Not because they're hard, but because the game is so fucking boring. I played three levels today and I wanted to kill myself.

This cracked me up while I was in the Store Pickup line at Best Buy.

Someone bought a Kinect 2.0
Someone special ordered a Kinect 2.0
Best Buy put a giant SOLD tag on it, as if they too were shocked.

It seemed to me like I spent most of the time doing the Trial of Archimedes myself. Then I looked at my completion times according to PSNP and that game didn't even take me a day and a half and I only finished the PSP remakes faster.

I think God of War 2 took me the longest because I hit the Boss Batch trophy glitch and had to backtrack a lot of the game to get that one to pop. I remember some frustration on the challenges where you had to do them all in one go, but even that didn't really seem that bad.

Did anyone here play Radiant Historia on DS? That was a huge surprise IMO, easily in my Top 10 RPGs.

I don't think the levels are boring, but they do drag on for longer than they probably should. That's my issue with the game. But I'm enjoying it for what it is.

I've played some of God of War 1 and I found that bit where you have to move a super destructible crate up while it's being shot at and super destructs over and over to be really infuriating.

You're supposed to kick it. But yeah, it's a pain in the ass.

This is my goal as well. Only have 3 and Ascension left. Also, your long-ass completion times give me hope that I'm not an easily distractible dingleberry.
I always like to play through God of War on normal the first time through. And as you can see I dont always get back to the hard mode until later. I basically finished 3 on normal and put it away. then they announced 1 and 2 remastered. I played through those quickly then did 3 on hard mode right after. I only booted up the two PSP remasters for some reason so thats why those two have over a year as well.

Ascension just didnt grab me so I played through it on normal and then didnt want to touch it again until I heard they nerfed the Trials so I went back to it. I enjoyed it more the second time since I didnt have such high expectations anymore.

I didn't think there'd be a chance I'd plat the first GoW because I tried the challenges after I beat it and got my ass handed to me. Then I did all of GoW 2 and figured I'd give it another shot. Had no problem with more experience combined with select video watching. I think I was cutting it close on the speedrun trophy though. I do remember once particular section that was in Gow 2 I think, that took me forever to get past. Even quit the game for a good couple weeks because I was so frustrated. I think I even bitched in the old thread and got some good tips from you assholes to finally get me past it. PSP remakes weren't bad at all to my hazy memory.

Was it the music you liked? ...

Did you play Radiata Stories? They did that first. Not sure how connected they are, though.

Radiata_Stories.jpg
That was my favorite track from its OST, yes. If you really want to watch gameplay, look it up yourself.

And it has nothing to do with Radiata Stories. AT ALL. Different developers, different publishers, different directors, different composers...

All I need for Pixeljunk Ultimate is a couple online trophies. There's either nobody on there or someone who is a lot better than me.
Zimm and I boosted them in about an hour the other night. Find someone else who has it and you can do it with them. We can give you some pointers on how to make it faster. The MP would make Stotch and Therm's heads explode because of how boring it would be to actually play.

I started GoW 3 on Titan, but kept getting my ass handed to me by Hades last night that I finally went down a level. Sounds like that's the best move anyway to get that "Don't die in the labyrinth" trophy. I may or may not take advantage of that max weapons glitch for my Titan run later.
