And I'm off to a great start.  Went to start the game, snagged the wire from my headset that was plugged into the controller sitting on my desk on the arm of the chair, pulling it to the hard floor, rubber on the right stick is all messed up. :wall:

Seriously? I think I'm still in Ch. 2 and I got most of my trophies from reloading a checkpoint at one skirmish.
Why are you grinding out trophies that early in a game? I would take my chances on getting most of them naturally first. I would think that might help avoid the need for any grinding.

While you guys are "playing" your fancy new old-timey game, I get to watch an install progress bar. Can you say jealous much?

There's also literally no need for grinding because many of those trophies are easily picked up naturally. I can only think of one that required a bit of grinding so far for me.

Is infamous second son good? I ordered the bundle that game with an extra controller and the charging thing from bestbuy

(Or really I should say I made my husband order it)
The graphics are great. Mechanics of movement and combat feel good. The powers aren't well-balanced and you have to switch between 4 power types at different times, all of which have different skills with strengths and weaknesses rather than being able to just use the individual powers you like at will. Switching powers requires going to an environmental elements and triggering the switch, which is annoying. The collection stuff is laid out in grid areas and each area needs to be cleared individually, which is shitty. The story is stupid, the main character not very good, and the supporting characters don't get enough focus (there's no Zeke equivalent.) The evil playthrough is barely different from the good playthrough (so the 2nd playthrough feels almost exactly like the first) and it makes Delsin completely horrible versus the shades of grey approach that Infamous 2 took for Cole.

Basically SS is a fantastic engine upgrade and could have been great, but they fucked up on most of the content.

Oh I see

Well I did get it for pretty much free since the bundle with the ds4 and charging station was like $70 so I don't feel bad now if it's not that good

I'm pretty easy to please with games though. It usually takes a lot to make me hate or not play a game....(I can't think of too many games I've played that I've hated or just couldn't play) although fuck ing Jak and Daxter is trying my patience on the Vita. Pissing me off

Dear Diary,

My sister needed a babysitter last minute so I'm staying over until tomorrow. Normally I'd just bring my Vita, but I have things to do and had to bring the big gun with me. Kids are finally in bed. Time to bring out The Order.

Sincerely,

Cleaner

P.S. This Gator guy is a beast. I had to create another line for him in 4ForFeb. He needs to calm down.

The TPS part is kind of middling but I'm actually really enjoying this so far.

Now you just have to stream it like the rest of us cool kids.

I feel like we should all chip in today and each get a trophy for Velo because that's the greatest present we could possibly give him with our pants on.

Uncanny

This one is the biggest pain in the ass in NFS: Most Wanted (DLC trophy). You have to get 6 other people online in the same game (7 total), and herded to line up in a row in an airfield at the corner of the map so that someone can drive over a ramp and jump all 6 cars. Like THAT'S going to happen naturally in the course of playing.

Trophies that REQUIRE boosting are moronic. At least the "8 people meet up at the stadium" trophy for Burnout Paradise there was an event you could start (meet up at the stadium) so that by completing the event you get the trophy.

Took 3 hours to collect enough people to do it, but we got it done, my offering.

Jeez I'm on the
Agamemnon
chapter and just got my first trophy.  It was the head shot one and I've been working on that since the game started. :p

Edit- Just finished that chapter so I'll call it there for the night.  Loving the game as a whole so far.  The mechanics are a little muddy and it can't quite decide what kind of game it wants to be but it at least looks like a next gen game and I'm finding it enthralling.  The Ryse comparison was very apt but that's not a terrible thing to me since I enjoyed Ryse for the same reasons I'm enjoying The Order and in spite of the same flaws.

That's one ugly/boring/dumb trophy card for it though.

I'd suggest stopping after the first game. I can't imagine anybody thinking J&D 1 was annoying and then actually enjoying 2 or 3.

To be fair, the Vita collection is pretty sucky.
Yeah, I've heard that. I played it on PS3 and I was talking about the games on their own, though, not their port.

And Equistina; SS's problems don't make it unfun to play. It's tedious if you're going for the plat, but just running through the story should be a fine experience. I did enjoy my Evil playthrough more (stupid asshole Delsin stuff aside) since I wasn't worrying about that stuff. There's issues, sure, but not game-breaking ones.

I was referring to how Equistina's annoyance with J&D might be because it's the Vita version, not because she doesn't like the game itself.
Correct.

I love the series, I played it on PS2, but the game on Vita is frustrating. The camera is all wonky and the controls don't register sometimes :/

Things that were super easy for me when I played are now frustrating because of it D:

Interesting. I'd heard about framerate issues, but that's it. The camera wasn't very good in the PS3 version, so I wonder if that's somehow worse in the Vita version or if it's been so long since you played it on PS2 that you'd forgotten how limited it was.

No, I used to replay it all the time on PS2.

I have no issue with The Sly series on vita though so I thought Jak would have been done correctly as well on Vita but I guess not

Are you too arrogant that you can't take just two seconds to google it? Jesus Therm.... it's like you're trying to see just how much misinformation you can spread in here. The other day you were giving your opinion on RE:Revelations despite that fact that you knew nothing about it and now you're questioning E's memory of the game despite the fact that Vig pointed out it was a shitty port. I'm going to have to start keeping a tally of how many times you give some bad info because it's starting to get a little ridiculous.

I said the PS3 version had issues and questioned if that was the same issue she had in the Vita version or something else. I never said the slightest thing to argue against the Vita version having worse issues. Not sure how that's spreading misinformation.

Having googled it just to double-check, most of what I'm seeing people talk about for the camera is stuttering when you rotate it. This fits with the framerate issue I mentioned and what I'd seen in user reviews in Reddit and the like. I'm also seeing questions about how the camera inversion works. What pages did you look at that indicated other problems?

And for RE:..you mean the post where I said I don't know if horror games would work as well on a portable device and would have to try one? The one in which I said absolutely nothing negative about the game and instead wondered about the genre/hardware combination? That opinion about RE:revelations? If you're going to get pissy about my post content being inaccurate you might want to double-check your own shit.

The Order looked pretty decent from what I saw in Tyler's stream. I'll definitely pick it up for $10 when I have a Ps4.

In the meantime, I have a Super Slim ps3 scheduled to arrive on Wednesday. I edited myself into what we have in the boosting spreadsheet. I'll be down to get going on Singularity, Ac brotherhood, Bioshock 2, or any of the ps3 Call of Dutys anytime soon. I really don't plan on getting any new ps3 games this year other than what we get from plus, so I'm hoping to get through the backlog this year so I can finally say goodbye to the ps3.

I must have missed it; what happened to your PS3 to require a replacement?

YLOD. I was able to get it going again to back everything up. It had a good 7 year run, but I suppose it'll be nice to have one now that is 1/3 the size, and supposedly quieter. I won't miss the backwards compatibility since I haven't used it in 6 years.
