Not cheap, but insurance for me ;)
Ouch... that's more than I thought they would be. I'm definitely glad I went throughout the hassle of tenso/amazon.jp instead of waiting for the Euro countries. Nearly $17 per amiibo before shipping is too pricey. I was expecting 12-13 dollars like before when I bought my villager amiibo there. Although I guess you can't put a price on not having to worry as much now.

Since I'm only interested in Wario and Pac-Man, I'm holding off until there are domestic pre-orders.  The only one I've imported so far was Rosalina.  When shipping costs roughly the same as the figure, it's kinda hard to justify.  Especially, when there's still a chance of getting them from a NA retailer.

Through all of this amiibo craziness, I'm really glad that I'm not into Fire Emblem, Earthbound, and Xenoblade.  Cuts out a significant amount of harder-to-find figures that I want.

Well since they don't charge you until they ship, which is at least a month away for sure, it's insurance in case you can't preorder locally. And if you don't prefer the character, it makes for some nice bargaining chips later on. But people grabbing like 5? That really shouldn't be allowed by retailers lol, there's no good intention there.

I was thinking about it earlier, but the SSB Fire Emblem assist trophies would all be AWESOME as amiibo! Even if they didn't do much (just unlocked the assist trophy or something) I'd still love to have them in that scale.  Its tough not having much fire emblem merchandise (especially figures) to enjoy over here in the states.  Also, speaking of the trophies -- I wonder if Nintendo plans to do select assist trophies as their "smaller amiibo" that they mentioned recently? Either that or maybe pokemon?

Please... no.... It is enough of an anxiety attack trying to get the current Fire Emblem Amiibo. It seems I can find almost every other amiibo except Ike at this point. Fire Emblem assist trophies would be amazing, but horrifyingly hard to get.

Lucina always goes out of stock before I can place an order for import. I don't have high hopes of getting  Lucina once US gets pre-orders.

I'm glad I got that Ike from AmazonUK for a semi-reasonable price he was the only FE character I really wanted

I feel sorry for the people who want Lucina and Robin though thats gunna be rough

Well, i dropped by Gamestop yesterday to pick-up my order of Ike and Dedede that was supposed to be available 2/25. Long story short, they got 4 of each and had 8 pre-orders so I was SOL and now I'm waiting on the next shipment. If nintendo screws this up I'm done. Between this and disaster that was the Majora's Mask LE nonsense, it's no wonder they're hurting for cash, they don't make enough stuff for people to buy,

I guess I'll have to have some plants at a couple Walmarts to help me secure a Gold Mario. Otherwise I'll have to hope at the very least that I pick the right store to go to right after work on that Thursday night. I'd hate to line up only to find out I can't get one. Maybe we will get lucky and there will actually be a sufficient amount of them to go around? A man can dream can't he?

So, from an Wave 4 standpoint, Amazon US and DE have still yet to go live.  The good news is that none of these seem to be hitting during the middle of the night.  I care about getting them, but only so much ;)

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Mario has always been golden in the minds of his fans. On March 20, Nintendo will launch the Super Mario amiibo—Gold Edition, a shiny gold-colored Mario figure that arrives on the same day as the Mario Party 10 game for the Wii U console. The Super Mario amiibo—Gold Edition will be sold exclusively at 3,000 Walmart stores in the U.S. at launch at a retail price of $12.96.

Nintendo’s amiibo are interactive toys that come to life in compatible games in different ways. This new golden figure represents the third Mario amiibo. The other two Mario amiibo are:
• The original ‘fireball’ Mario from the Super Smash Bros. series.
• A new ‘wave’ Mario from the Super Mario series available on March 20, for a limited time bundled only with Mario Party 10.

The new gold-colored Mario amiibo is compatible with multiple games that support amiibo. For example, Mario Party 10 features a new amiibo Party mode that players can only access by tapping their compatible amiibo figures on the Wii U GamePad controller to customize them and bring them into the game as board pieces. Players can also save items to their amiibo, then use them strategically. Or players can train their amiibo to supercharge its stats and expand its abilities in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U or Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. The full list of compatible games and amiibo can be found at http://www.nintendo.com/amiibo/compatibility.

It's official boys, no preordering.
Lol glad you quoted absolutely nothing that said no preorder...but yet it was confirmed as "official"

lolz
