You guys remember admiralvic? He used to be an editor or something over at a site called justpushstart.com. Before I even started posting here, I saw that site and there was a post about how they were looking for writers. I submitted an application and Vic contacted me. We had a chat through some messenger program, which he was treating like a job interview. I went along with it because I missed writing since I stopped once Lost ended. So he told me that he got in touch with the head dude of the site and they agreed I could write some stuff and eventually get into reviews.

But I declined the offer because of a conversation we had during that "interview." Basically, he asked me what some of my current favorite games were. It evolved into a conversation of how I like FFXIII more than Skyrim, and him telling me I could never say that on the site because I have to say positive things about popular games or else people wouldn't visit the site. So we had to form our opinions around public opinions. I told him I could never do that, and that if I felt something was shitty, or in the case of Skyrim...boring, I was going to say so.

But I think starting a website with the mindset "We're going to get so much free shit!" is a terrible idea. Start a site because you want to write and talk about games, and maybe the free shit will come someday.

The snow forecast keeps getting smaller. I'm starting to worry. Down to 4 to 6" now. It's going to end up as 1" before the day is through isn't it?

That sling tv is getting better deal. Now has AMC in the 20 dollar package.
Cutting the cord gets more tempting except that when you add in a couple streaming services Comcast's just internet prices are so ridiculous that you're back up to the same amount.

Well this is surprising:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/03/04/before-wolfenstein-the-new-order-there-was-the-old-blood/

Standalone prequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order being released digitally for $20.
Hope it's got an interesting story and stuff like New Order did. If it does I'll pick it up at $10 as much as I enjoyed Wolfenstein.

So why is Vig refusing to change his snakeybro avatar?
Because he's getting a handy j from that Snake arm in the CE for that awful Ground Zeroes sequel.

That looks fuck ing stupid. It makes Amiibo(s) look like high art. It looks like a fuck ing pillow. Dumb.
You look like a stupid pillow but you don't have a magnetic shovel now do you? DO YOU?!

This was the only reason to rebuy Metallica's Garage Days. I got tired of playing my original tape and needed it on CD.

One of my friends accidentally bought the clean version of Garage, Inc. when it was released. Listening to that song with beeps every 3 seconds was hilarious. He was pissed.
I worked at a Musicland (that's right) in the GB mall when that came out, and we would put the clean version on the in-store stereo every day. The bleeped version was indeed hilarious, though the manager would usually go skip it when it came on.

Fun fact:

The clean version doesn't skip/fuck up in the middle of Green Hell like the explicit version.

I randomly found the CD version of that in a pile of just traded in discs at a used music shop before Garage Days came out and snatched it up before they could put it on the shelf. Don't forget Garage Inc also gave us the then hard to get Am I Evil & Blitzkrieg. I liked a lot of the new covers on their too, especially Loverman and Astronomy. And that epic fucking Merciful Fate medley. I think it's one of their most enjoyable albums to jam out to for me, even if not one song was written by them.

No but I have a non-magnetic middle finger!

Lookine at PSN profiles, this time last year I had 1 platinum, and most likely by the end of the week should have number 25... pretty good year I would say

149.6 on Needlepoint... :wall:
So that race reminded me why I quit that stupid fuck ing cheap ass game on PC after putting around 30 hours into it. Most Wanted is a cheap game with shitty AI to begin with but that race manages to take it to a whole other level. Terrible collision volumes that wreck you without touching anything, spastic AI cars, inane restarts after crashes, watching the same stupid crash cam for the hundredth time, and other just random stupid.

Anyway that 149.6 was maybe five or six attempts in, think I had an unlucky crash somewhere that screwed me over just enough I couldn't get it. The next three runs though were just the stupidest nonsense ever even by this stupid game's standards. The first run I was averaging about 180 at the turn into the off road section. Cheese it and crash in the turn, it spawns me at the bottom then a moment later spawns two SUV cops heading at me at full speed from about 100 feet away out of thin air. As soon as it respawned me it did the same thing and dropped two more SUV cops in front of me at full speed. Second time I cheese the turn again and it respawns me at 150 about a car length from the guard rail facing directly at it. The when I recover from that the car hits some invisible obstacle and spins me 270°. Third time is an exact duplicate of the first except that this time the second set of SUV cops takes the time to push me off the cliff too after they wreck me.

Was about 90 minutes before I got a run where the game didn't do something so stupid it was unavoidable. Still, I'm pretty sure that's a lot less time than Octodad spent on it and I beat him on the score board too. ;)

Since there is some Metallica talk, they announced they are releasing No Life Til Leather remastered on cassette (yes cassette) in April. The extended Vinyl and CD versions will come later in the summer. The only Metallica thing I've been excited for since the Cliff Burton era.

I totally agree but the site also can't be a "Here is why every single reviewer is wrong and Skyrim sucks" constantly either. That shit gets old too and makes the writer look like a douchebag. There's an awful site called Quarter to Three that has given 1/5 to games like Forza Horizon 2, Halo 4, PS All Stars, and Arkham Origins and 5/5 to games like Race the Sun, Skylanders, and Monaco.

A site that always just goes with the flow is obviously pretty spineless but a site never goes with it is equally as bad. For example, it would be just fine for you to publish an opinion piece on why you think FF13 is better than Skyrim as long as you understand you're in the vast minority and people probably aren't even going to pay too much attention to you. Nobody's shtick can be "let's see what popular opinions I disagree with" because that is a super douchbaggy way of getting attention.

I saw that too. Shame no one has the equipment to listen to it anymore.

I hope with all these reissues that they're going to start doing they release a remixed version of Justice so that we can actually hear the bass on it.

So there really is something wrong with the bass level in Justice for All? I always just thought it was me.

Not just you. It's a well known thing that the levels are way down. They were still doing most of their own production at this point (Bob Rock joined the party next album), and the rumors are they put the bass levels way down because it was Newstedt's first album with the group after Cliff died and they wanted to lessen his impact right off the bat.

Since the Cliff Burton era? How old are you? I've always been under the impression you were kind of a young guy, but maybe I'm wrong. Justice is an excellent album and totally on par with the Burton stuff. I think most anyone who enjoys Metallica would agree.

Talk about having no faith in someone.

I'm 37, I just act like a big kid most of the time. It actually scares me to type that out. When the fuck did I get that old?

I haven't played Peace Walker or Ground Zeroes yet, but I have loved every other MGS title so far, so forgive me if I don't take your words to heart.
I wish I could go back and play Peace Walker for the first time...you are in for a treat. I played it on the PSP Go and still thought it was epic despite the diminutive size of the GO.

mpaullin - I'll give you Justice but as a bass player no bass has always bothered me. In a weird way though that album also signifies the beginning of the end for me.
