Please tell us what it was like to live without TV.
I'm waiting for the day to tell my kids about my childhood when Netflix didn't exist , HD (4k) tv wasn't the norm, the internet didn't exist, cell phones didn't exist, and I had to walk to school in 5 ft of snow...hahaha. So many things...

So Mitch, Gator, Chewy, and Jimbo know what it was like to live without running water and indoor plumbing.

Wait?!?!? Am I not number 2 on the old fucker leaderboard? Are you 40 yet Jimbo? I still have almost 6 months until I am officially over the hill.
Could be wrong but Im pretty sure he mentioned to me before that he was in his 40s.

I'm 31 on the 11th.

mpaulin - I'll give you Justice but as a bass player no bass has always bothered me. In a weird way though that album also signifies the beginning of the end for me.
I was born in 87 so by the time I I got old enough to really get into them I was much more familiar with songs from the black album and load/reload just because they were on the radio all of the time. After digging into their catalog Ride, Master, and Justice are the obvious best. For me, it is just the pinnacle of metal. I can listen to it all day every day. I still really enjoy the black album and load, though, since I was not around to be pissed off about the change in style.

Obviously their more recent stuff is pretty weak (St Anger was awful but Death Magnetic was at least a lot better than that), but I will still go and see them in concert every chance I get. It's always a great show.

Always bothered me too, but it's still one of my favorite albums. Helped appease lots of my teenage angst. And when I started learning how to play the actual basslines, I loved it more, because in my mind I could hear them way better when I knew exactly what they were playing.

They never really gave Newstedt a chance to leave his own mark with the insturment. Sure he had "My Friend of Misery" (one of my fav Metallica tunes, because teenage emotions), but that was pretty much it besides I think one other writing credit on Reload for "Where the Wild Things Are". I was hoping they'd unleash Turillo a little more than they did on Death Magnetic, but they are letting him play Orion in concert, so there's that.

Not sure if any of y'all have listened to the album from Newstedt's new band, but it's not too bad. Some of the riffs and hooks are really solid even if the lyrics and the album title and his shitty shitty singing are laughable.

So when the new oddworld game is released on Vita, will those of us who added it on ps4 with plus get it for free as well.

(Short story. Cross-buy?)

I could listen to nothing but Metallica for the rest of my life.  From Load (just a couple songs) backwards.

I also like Fuel and Memory Remains from Reload.

Super Dungeon Bros from the devs of Tiny Troopers Joint Ops is coming to PS4 (cross-platform with PC multiplayer):

Awesome. I was actually looking up that game yesterday because it popped up on Microsoft's new ID@Xbox list and I couldn't see where it was confirmed for PSN. So now it is so that's sweet!

One of the developers "partnering" on this title is from Salt Lake City, so that's cool too. I'll get an exclusive interview with him once our website goes live lol

Anytime they've had a game on Plus that went cross buy down the road you've been able to get the other versions when they released. I think Resogun was the most recent example.

Ditto. I actually put their entire catalog on shuffle yesterday and today to get through lots of testing tickets. I'll listen to all their shit, St. Anger and Reload included because there are a couple of good ones hidden amongst the mostly crap.

I love this supposed quote on Wiki talking about Load's album cover.

"Lars and Kirk were very into abstract art, pretending they were gay. I think they knew it bugged me. It was a statement around all that. I love art, but not for the sake of shocking others. I think the cover of Load was just a piss-take around all that. I just went along with the make-up and all of this crazy, stupid crap that they felt they needed to do."

He also had a co-writing credit for "Blackened".

I like how the quote doesn't mention that the cover art picture is (I believe) Bull semen mixed with blood.

I'm about 11 months away from 40.
24 months, 18 days for myself. (esoteric answer) Makes me 3rd or 4th oldest here? I used to be the youngest person at my place of employment until a few years ago.

I remember the days of rotary phones, antenna TV and games on floppy discs.

I saw that too. Shame no one has the equipment to listen to it anymore.

I hope with all these reissues that they're going to start doing they release a remixed version of Justice so that we can actually hear the bass on it.
I have a cassette player in one car (it also has a 6 disc changer and XM). But it has been years since I put a tape in it. I don't even have any tapes anymore. Really crappy how they turned down Jason's bass guitar on that album. While I really liked that album it was the begging of the end of Metallica for me. Once they started to see the commercial success each album got worse and worse more mainstream BS. I used to LOVE Metallica but haven't cared for anything they have done in over 10 years.

So there really is something wrong with the bass level in Justice for All? I always just thought it was me.
They hated Newstead and purposely turned his base down. They were dicks to him and in later years admitted that. I liked the stuff he did with Flotsam and Jetsam before coming to Metallica.

I use to have a Volkswagen GTi VR6. Probably the worst car I ever owned. Oh, it was fun early on, but then the problems started. The only good thing I can say for it is that kids love VWs and they'll pay a pretty penny regardless of condition, so I got a surprisingly good tradein value for it.

To be fair, Newsted is a giant tool. I used to be indifferent on him, but then I saw him as a judge on that reality show where him, Tommy Lee, and Gilby Clarke were judges looking for a lead singer for their new supergroup. He was weird pretentious dick on there and soured my opinion of him.

Flotsam and Jetsam was great. I actually got the tape free from a indie radio station for requesting a song.

Not disagreeing with you but Lars and Hetfield are huge tools as well. Lars and his involvement and stupid statements about Napster and downloading songs illegally was ridiculous.
