This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

Anybody need a copy of Particula? I've got a copy sitting in my inventory that needs a new home. Quote this if you want it.

 
FO3 is something I'd want to try again but only if it got Steamworks including workshop... which I know will never happen.  I can't be bothered to deal with manual modding.  Same with New Vegderp.  Wonder why they don't have workshop for that.

 
Fine, here's some PC-related garbage because someone is a little too oversensitive and sicked the mods on us:

I bought a backup laptop last year brand new from Best Buy. It's a cheap Lenovo B50 Touch, Windows 8.1 with Atheros and Bluetooth Wifi capabilities. I have my internet connection set up as a WEP so I can connect my peasant consoles and play online. But every so often, even if I'm 2 feet away from a router, it won't connect.

The Wifi worked with 8, but now it's only intermittent with 8.1. I did a factory restore, and it still can't connect. I bought it in June; I'm thinking that it's a hardware issue and that I should return it. I don't think it's my router because I have 9 other wifi devices that connect easily. Lenovos sux0rz, my HP works a lot better.

just because they're relatively older. same reason oblivion or morrowind don't have workshop.

To whomever complained, it's kind of rude of you to come into a thread and decide for yourself that it isn't what you think it should be, This Steam thread has been going on for years just fine. In fact, most of the PC threads have been rolled into this one so that it doesn't clutter up the Video Games and Deals thread. The people that use and contribute to this thread have molded it into what it is.

And what is it? It's a pretty healthy micro community. We're using the forum and we're talking about deals for the most part. Most of the users are friends (or at least friendly) and generate lots of page clicks and ad views for the site. A site like this wants community/views/and clicks -- why not just let it be?

My opinion doesn't matter, but I will say the thread rarely gets out of hand and most of the conflict is pretty good-natured. Many people contribute in ways that may not be immediately apparent to someone casually viewing the thread. What I'm saying is that this thread is an asset to CAG. It's good for everyone except the malcontents.

I think this is a really excellent post that sums up how most of us feel about this thread. And while there can often be a very us vs them attitude with this thread's users and the rest of CAG/the mods, I think it's also worth pointing out that people here have gotten better at being inclusive and easing new people into how things tend to operate around here. I caught up on the least few days today and in particular found it really nice to see that when new people asked about some of the thread in-jokes they weren't immediately responded to with more condescending in-jokes, but actually given an easily understandable answer. That's the way we need to act to get the rest of CAG to accept us more, not pretending like we're our own superior thing that should never be changed (though, deep down, we all know that Flow is the best of humanity and we will never reach the heights of his glory - bless baby Octavian and bring him many teeth).

Yep, he was banned. Kind of a surprise to me, since he was such a chill dude, so I did some investigating on it. After persisting on finding out what happened, Cheapy eventually PM'd me and said that this site was called CheapAssGamer. Fakeybroing was against the TOS. That was why he was banned. He needed to get got, so he got got.

I don't understand why people feel the need to complain to mods about what's going on in a thread if it's not offensive. Do you realize what that says about you if you do that? I'm assuming it wasn't somebody who actually posts here, because if you are one of the approximately 15 people or whatever who post in this thread then you probably don't care about off topic stuff, so you're somebody who just reads the thread, and dangnabbit the convo doesn't jive with how you vicariously want to take part, so you go and complain. Deals are posted everyday by multiple members in the thread, not to mention an OP that has LITERALLY EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PC DEALS in it. There's literally zero reason to complain, but people gonna be people and people just LOVE to micromanage others when said others are even slightly inconveniencing them. It's just ridiculous and petty and stupid and ohsogoddamntypical of the human race to make everything about yourself. There are a gazillion places on the web you can check for pc deals which are mostly devoid of human interaction, like this  or this or this, but NOPE not good enough gotta get my deals from this specific thread, so instead of shifting to a site that fits my needs I'm going to complain and try to get this thread changed to mirror what I want.

Thank you. I have been waiting for a drop like this. I took Deus Ex Human Rev. & Laura Croft & the Guardian of Light. I couldn't post a reply at the moment I activated them b/c was multi-tasking and playing a game with a few friends.

Like pasports said - to anyone not interested in joining in on the community chatter or sifting through the posts - everything you're looking for is in the OP.  Just keep that page bookmarked and you'll see all the deals with none of the community we've built here over the years.

I know if this thread were stamped out or heavily moderated I would have absolutely no reason to come to CAG anymore. 

Why would Neuro or anyone else bother keeping a huge thread like this updated with all PC deals if there was no one here to read it?

When Tony was the Amazon Rep here he got 'special dispensation' from Cheapy to allow for a community feel in that thread... of course all of that was virtually destroyed within a month of his replacement disappearing.  I always felt we had that here as well - or at least that we should.

Most of our moderation in this thread has to do with inappropriate behavior or images. This was the reason we were in here earlier and it had nothing to do with the off topic discussion. We "prefer" this forum be used for deal discussion but we are not going to heavily enforce it.

Still hoping either Life is Strange or The Detail (assuming The Detail doesn't just die off) will try to actually make decisions matter instead of seeming like they do. The first TWD got to me because I felt like my choices mattered and I could go back later and save person x, etc. Was really disappointed to find out it didn't matter (and glad didn't play through it more then once), and got the same way with some of the choices in TWD 2 and TWAU, I probably still cared more then I should have knowing it didn't really matter, but it was never at the same level as the first game before I found out how Telltale works.

Not helped by the fact it's early spring, I can't remember spring being that good for deals (though I have terrible memory). Think Steam did a Spring sale once or twice? Other then that it usually seemed Amazon and Steam waited til Summer, with a few decent deals now and then in between, to start the price wars. Again, could be just I can't remember much from even a couple years ago.

Still reading through the drama-lite (or is it drama-like?) stuff, but did want to add that the only reason I stuck around here is the Steam thread. Came for the GOG thread (and due to boredom) and eventually hit up the Steam thread during a sale, learned about good stuff like ISAD and such, stuck around to pop up now and then and type stuff (still read the thread every day or so though). If it was just about deals, I'd probably stop coming around except during sale time.

I really should play FO3 again on PC. My original playthrough was on 360 but by the time New Vegas came out I was pretty much fully moved over to PC.

Have you ever tried out any of the mod managers? I seem to remember Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) helping a lot with modding New Vegas and I mostly used the Nexus Mod Manager for Skyrim. They really help out a lot when you are installing 50-100+ mods.

 
So, I got a bit further in here in Dark Souls @ Sen's Fortress.

Made it to the bonfire outside on the ledge.

Got 10 Estus Flasks there.

And I've battled the Iron Golem - who's been kicking my butt.

Gotta get learning his patterns, battling, and grinding.

IIRC there is a NPC phantom you can summon across a bridge near the boss if you are in human form, he really helped to distract the golem when I did that fight. Also, the fun really begins after that as you get carried away to the next area.

This is actually one of the easier boss fights if you're not adverse to using the environment, he can quickly be knocked off one of the edges for an instakill (I knocked him off the little bridge before he could saunter over to me). Google for specifics.

Then when you mods come to clean things up, can you not say things like "guys, this is in the deals section, can we keep on topic" and instead say something like "yo peeps, chill out with the whack behavior and crazy burger pics!"
