F.A.Q's

What is Amazon Warehouse Deals?
From Amazon: Get deep discounts on open-box, like-new, refurbished, or used products that are in good condition but do not meet Amazon.com's rigorous standards as "new".

Warehouse Deals is part of amazon that has open box, new but with damaged packaging product aka "dinger" and trade ins in generally like new condition. They are considered 3rd party by affiliation and as such the "Amazon Warehouse Deals" distinction but are still part of Amazon.

What is AmazonSmile?

About AmazonSmile

Is the Amazon Warehouse Deals return policy the same as Amazon's return policy?
Yes! All purchases are eligible for Amazon customer service and 30 day return policy.

I'm using the games sort by console link, and the games will not sort by price properly. What is wrong?
You aren't doing anything wrong, the sort by price feature on Amazon is broken during restocks and or when pricing algorithm goes haywire. During those times, prices don't adjust and assimilate with the current inventory quickly enough to show the sorting as such

I'm waiting for a ps4, xb1, 360, ps3, 3ds, or PS Vita to pop up.. What time do they usually appear?
They can show up any time, the best way to find it is have the item tabbed on your browser, and download an auto refresh app and frequently check it, and or set alerts... Sometimes they will not pop up on amazon warehouse deals storefront, you will need to check the "used" section of the item

Why did all the prices of games randomly jump up?
Games on warehouse deals generally go on a cycle. They will get extremely low, great deals.. Then they will jump back up and restart the cycle of falling in price again.

I have a gaming credit and/or an Amazon gift card. Can both of these be applied to Warehouse Deals orders?
Gift cards can be applied to orders made on warehouse deals, however video game credit is only good for items shipped and sold by "amazon.com", warehouse deals does not count as this.

What was Penny Deals?
In early September of 2011, tons of newer release, more expensive games popped up for 1 penny each. Many CAG members placed orders, expecting them to get cancelled. Some were cancelled, however many CAGS got a large amount of games for a penny each. There has been no confirmation what exactly happened and why these games were sold for a penny.

What is this "glitch deals" that I keep hearing about in this thread?

On August 7th, 2014, AWD glitched out similar to how it did around penny deals, except lot of stuff went for cheap instead for a penny. The pricing algorithm went haywire and in the process lot of stuff went for cheap across the AWD spectrum from games to iphones to tablets and everything else in between. The "glitch deal" lasted for maybe a couple of hours and fellow CAGs that were around during that time made out like a bandit. Below is the timeline leading up to the night and the deals that went down on that night.

What states does Amazon charge sales tax?

Arizona
California
Connecticut

Florida
Georgia
Indiana
Kansas
Kentucky

Maryland

Massachusetts
Nevada
New Jersey
New York
North Carolina
North Dakota
Pennsylvania
Tennessee
Texas
Virginia
Washington
West Virginia
Wisconsin

Note: No sales tax is charged when purchasing gift cards; however, purchases paid for with gift cards may be subject to tax.

What do you mean by a "dinger"?
Dinger = Item is new but the packaging is damaged in some way or form.

These are speculative guesses at best going by descritption of any given item and also taking into account the length of time an item has been out since its release. Shorter the span of time from release of a game or console, better the chance of scoring a new item with damaged packaging aka "dinger".

AWD product description says "Factory Sealed", is this item new?
First and foremost, AWD sells used / open box items so in their terms it has been sealed / resealed at an Amazon Warehouse and hence the "Factory Sealed" part so no it isn't necessarily new. It isn't necessarily new because it could go one of two ways:

1. It was traded in / open box return / test unit that was resealed at an Amazon warehouse facility.
2. It was a dinger (new with damaged packaging and with seals intact).

What condition are products from Warehouse Deals generally in?
First and foremost all games from AWD are considered used unless specified as new. Usually, games are re-shrinked wrap and depending on condition they can be perfect / brand new, brand new with damaged packaging aka "dinger" to just a game in a generic case. AWD has 5 condition criteria for their listings and they are:

New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unopened video game in perfect condition in its original packaging and with all original packaging materials included.

Like New: An apparently unopened video game in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The box and item are pristine, with no signs of wear. Suitable for presenting as a gift. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Very Good: A well-cared-for video game that has been played but remains in great condition. The game and its original packaging are complete and slightly worn, but unmarked and undamaged. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Good: The video game shows wear from consistent use, but remains in good condition. There may be clear external signs of wear and damage to the original packaging or instructions, but the game plays perfectly. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Acceptable: The video game is fairly worn, but it continues to work perfectly. The box and instructions may be missing or damaged. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Sellers are required to note whether the box or instructions are missing in the condition notes field for the item. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Any game I have personally ever bought in good or above condition has been in near mint condition. Acceptable ones have been a gamble. Getting DLC with games has also been a gamble and since AWD games are considered used, don't expect unused DLC even though there will be occassions where they may come unused. In regards to DLC, ymmv. Conditon wise, some people have reported that games were scratched with stickers on the insert. Consoles are also usually reported in like new or new condition with box damage. Rarely, a console may be missing a key component such as a power brick. Games listed in "acceptable" condition likely have very beaten up cases, or are missing cases and inserts, and are in not so great condition, but generally have a working game disc. Consoles listed in "acceptable" conditon can be either new in damaged packaging and or a pure gamble in what conditon they will truly be in along with what is included in the box depending on the time frame from release of the console.

Here is an example of a like new handheld (PS Vita) - Thanks Slixshot

Got my Wednesday shipment in from the glitch:

2x (Acceptable) 120GB PS3 - One came with Dualshock/USB, one without. One came with AV cables, one without.

2x (Acceptable) 160GB PS3 - One came with Dualshcok/USB, one without.  One came with HDMI, one without.

1x (Acceptable) 250GB Xbox 360 - Missing HDMI, everything else included

1x (Good) Xbox 360 Wireless Controller (White) - generic box, good condition

All of the consoles came in generic white boxes, but were in relatively good shape (the Xbox especially). Tested everything out after the reports of DOA disc drives, and so far so good, every system works fine.

The three security options are:

  • WEP
  • WPA-PSK (TKIP)
  • WPA-PSK (AES)
Tried all 3 and none would work with my existing setup. (Full disclosure: I'm far from knowledgeable on this stuff. These options are all just a bunch of letters to me :whistle2:k)

I think my PSP software is version is 6.35. Maybe they added WPA2 support later? I guess I could try updating it over USB (I'm assuming this is an option).

Thanks for the microSD adapter tip. The CAG in me found an even cheaper one. I think I have a couple 32GB cards lying around from old Droids. Is there a capacity limit what cards will work with the PSP?
You could turn off security just to see if there is an update. After updating, turn security back on and it should use your same credentials.

Tested the BC Ps3 (50.XX) and the HDMI port is broken.

So the tally of what I'm shipping back today:

20GB PS3 broken HDMI (A)

80GB PS3 won't read discs (A)

60GB 360 won't read discs, (A)

scuffed psp 2000 with no charger (G) (LOL)

chewed on dsixl burgundy (28.xx) (G)

Gamecube controller (I think a dog got a hold of it) (8.xx)

white ds battery does not hold any charge (14.xx)

360 250GB description said in box with everything. It was in the box with nothing, broken and cracked casing, NO HDD (I called amazon before i attempted a return on this, they didn't give me a hard time...) LN (42.XX)

Keeping:

Dinger Vita 3G/wifi (68.XX)

360 250GB console only  (not even an AC cable) (38.xx) (luckily I have all the cords from my old on that sounds like a rocketship, yay replacements)

red ds  with charger nice shape(14.xx)

blue ds with charger good condition(14.xx)

so I'm happy for what I did keep, unhappy about all the returns, but that's why I bought a few multiples. I'm glad I'm hearing better result on the average from everyone else. Don't buy my returns and good luck to everyone still getting things in.

I missed out on the glitch, but I bought a dslite from a soccer mom yesterday for $10.

Last night, I taped it up in an amazon box and left it on my own doorstep.

Today I opened my door and found the box.

Now I don't feel so left out.
Should have chewed on it some, applied some mystery goo, then jumped on the box a few times for that full AWD effect.

Wouldn't 8 or so different returns be like an instant ban? I'm always scared to return anything because of the horror stories I hear on this thread.

The nice lady on the phone said I would be fine....... but I'm still worried, maybe I won't send back the gamecube controller and get a dog so he can chew on it too? If nothing else it'll be a testament to everyone else to see what happens.....

Before Sony updated teh freaking FW last year, it was at 6.60 for ages. I think you want to use that one. Not sure if it'll help your problems though.

Considering all those Vitas I returned a few months ago (and a bunch of headphones...and other defective stuff from Diamond Select Toys), Amazon would probably have my account fubar if I had to return that many consoles. I suddenly don't feel as bad as I want to feel. Now I can work in peace.

Round 2. Still missing the DSLite later today and PS3 on Tuesday. Off to check if these work.

360 250GB LN $53 - I think it was opened for inspection but otherwise new. Still go wrapping and everything.

Nunchuck $5 G - Pretty much new without OG packaging.

Wireless Controller 360 $9 G - Great condition too.

It doesnt matter what reps say to you about anything. Amazon will still ban, even if you save chat logs or conversations.

Amazon is ruthless in that sense.

But in the case of crappy products you recieved, I wouldnt be worried. It's their fault they sent you literal shit.

I actually sent back 4/6 PS3's I got last year because they were not the right GB and most didnt even work.

Although, I did get a warning from them after 1 more return after those....but w/e

So I ordered one of each slim PS3 capacity at the end to replace others but was wondering why they hadn't shipped. Apparently the ordered never went through despite getting confirmations. :wall:

None of them?

Just got the 20GB fat PS3 (a).  Bare console only, very dusty, couple cosmetic issues and the top cover slides right off but it's the correct model.  Powers up, HDMI works, but without a PS3 controller I can't test it any further.

Any deals on a PS3 controller?

PS4 controller ;D

AWD has a dualshock 3 up for $30.06 in acceptable condition.  Will I even do any better if I wait?

I think I'd kill for that $9 Sixaxis.

That works? That's awesome! I've been meaning to play my ps3 more but every time I pick up that controller, I decide not to. I love the feel of the ps4 controller though.

Eldtritch shared a link with me that the DS4 actually works wirelessly on the PS3 now!

Just got in my $54 Vita 3G/WiFi "Bundle" (A). It's scratched all to hell and there's some kind of dried gunk all over the R button. No power adapter or other accessories. Not even sure if this is worth selling. I know Warehouse is supposed to use the same return policy as Amazon proper, but with used products do they really care if I opened the package? How much might I be charged for returning this after opening the box?

*Edit:* Just discovered there's not even a SIM card inserted into the system. So there's that, too.

It worked from the day 1, only issue was that the touch area is useless (for PS3) and the PS button did not work. That may have changed, like you said before.
I don't know about the PS button but they actually updated the PS3 firmware like six to nine months ago so that it could be connected as a Bluetooth device. I never bothered to try it though.

Well technically being A that's what you ordered. If you return it for a reason that's not their fault they deduct a fee for shipping.

I've done it, but it needs to be re-linked every time I use it. I'm probably doing something wrong, it's only used a a backup.

Very cool! I'll have to give it a try when I get home.

The PS4's playstation button doesn't work on PS3 though, right?

The DS4 worked from day one if you had it connected via the usb cable to the ps3. Later, as Eld put it, an update was applied so it can be used as a bluetooth wireless device. If your ps3's firmware is up to date then it should work by pairing the ds4. Just the touchpad part won't work but everything else will.

Just shipping though? No fee for opening the box like stated in Amazon's return policy?
Send it back using the option not as described since it is scratched to hell and they will refund you without charging you a dime despite it being open. I can understand the missing accessories and such but the handheld should not have been in that bad of a shape even for acceptable condition. Sorry to hear about that and good luck.

I'm actually thinking about how to get that thing working...probably not going to happen though....

I tried to add that 3G Vita to the cart...no go. S***!

Well I guess that's OK since I need to save the money for that Aqua Blue JP one. Yeah I made up my mind.
That Aqua Blue and the Lime Green one have been cheaper as well at $180 with free shipping at one point. Kickz and whoknows has one of the colored imports and they do look gorgeous.

Man. 500 notifications overnight. Did I miss a crazy tiv session last night, or did something happen on awd (y'all got your shit maybe?)

Yeah I'm bored of my consoles all being black. And I bet Sony would sell some more Vitas in the states with those colors but Sony does not want to fuck in' make money off of these beauties.

It's lose-lose for the designers. If they bring over a bunch of colors, people will complain and want simple black or white. Give them white and black, people will want colors. The solution is simple: we all go back to the nineties. Game Boys had all the colors.

I hate to say it but I think nintendo did it right here. Consoles initially launch in black and white and then for later slimline models release colors. Handhelds release in all different colors. I personally like my ps4 in black and wouldnt want it in any colors but I love my handhelds to be funky as hell and wouldn't mind a colored vita

The $17 DS Lite I ordered just arrived. The thing looks mint on the screens, and the outside, and everywhere else. It came complete with box and instructions.

But it won't turn on. It's charging and has an orange light. Should I wait a few hours and see if the light turns green before I start to worry too much. If it doesn't turn green, do I buy a new battery from nintendo?

This thing is so nice looking that it makes me wonder if it hasn't been turned on for years (that's what she said).

As for colored systems I wish I was savvy enough to buy and apply a custom skin.  There's infinite possibilities for something like that
