But for some reason, I've always felt like the British versions for "ence"/"ense" and "ise"/"ize" words made more sense.
In a linguistic sense, it would actually be easier for people to learn English if we were more consistent with our usage of z. We pronounce "s" as a "z" when we pluralize, meaning that "z" would be one of the most common letters in English if we only spelled words the same way as we say them, like other languages do. In that sense, American English is more evolved than British English, and Stupid People English ("adding a z at the end of words to make them plural" English) is even more evolved than ours. If we talked the same as we spell words, we'd be very breathy with all of our soft es sounds, which are more like cees than zees.

I've been given a 33% off coupon for Deathtrap and, in the absence of any actual deals, I'm even considering it.

It looks like a Dungeon Defenders kinda game, which I loved back when it launched. Does anybody have any actual experience with it? I'd ask Trav but, well...

Uh, that is play time in the last two weeks. I actually solo'd every level on every difficulty and got max stars on each level and have 70 hours total play time.

I got it on sale, with a coupon for like $14, was totally worth it as the devs keep adding more content. Somewhat similar to DD for sure. I think I posted a review previously in the thread. If you like Van Helsig and TD games, then you should like this as well.

edit: And if more people buy it we can do PvP or team stuff.

Nope...they are just shitty GoG keys sitting on your 1980's parents basements wood paneled wall....unless the im a virgin goodies are worth it...ya know jpegs and pdf manuals...
All of the STALKER games on GOG actually also come w/ the soundtracks in both FLAC + MP3 format.

So, if you like STALKER series' music - there's that, too.

Seems like I chose the wrong night to not check cag. Chose to sleep instead. Every game on Steam was glitched at 150% off and purchasable. what a glorious moonshine induced dream that was. Was disappointed when I woke up to find I only had 1450 games on Steam.

Shaq Fu you Trav, seriously.

I'd resisted all last night and thought "yeah, I'll just wishlist it and pretend this never happened". Then you post this buzzword-laden review.

You're suppose to tell me it sucks.

Bad Trav. BAD.

Anyone here looking at the Surface 3 coming out next month?
I've been interested in the Surface tablets for a few months lately, but it's more of really liking my windows phone then knowing much specifics into the not big ass table surface. Figured, when I have money, it'd be good for travel or been good for something to do between class (when I actually had those pesky in-person classes) instead of lugging a heavy laptop with a fragile powerpin around. Just saw the stuff about the price (later in the thread) yeeeaahhh....no. Of course I can't really afford a $300-400 dollar tablet but $700-2000 seems really steep *shrugs*.

Continuing the off topic-ness, love when you want/need to get up early so plan to go to bed early. 10pm rolls around, "eh, I'll watch some youtube/catch up on stuff and go to bed soon." Midnight, "damn, just going to watch this one thing then go to bed." 2am when you're best hope is to get at most 2 hours of sleep, "Man I'm feeling pretty damn tired."

Not helped by being nearly impossible to stay up all night til tomorrow then pass out. God I miss those days already and not even that old =(. Too bad Crusader Kings II hadn't came out around those times, would have spent all those hours playing the hell out of it. Especially if I could have gotten it 75% off like it is currently at GMG: Crusader Kings II (GMG).

[MS Surface 3 Stuff]...Of course I can't really afford a $300-400 dollar tablet but $700-2000 seems really steep *shrugs*.
Yeah, agreed, absolutely no way I would pay over $700 for a tablet (even if it could replace my laptop - especially since I rarely use my current laptop for anything other than steam streaming to the living room TV).

The new Surface 3 (non-pros) are a little better (@$500) but I am really only even considering it since I have a wad of bing-bux and a few gift cards laying around since Christmas to offset the price.

I, also, have no idea if MS will end up dropping the price of the things a month after release... or if they'll stay that price for a year... who knows what the customer demand for a slightly smaller and cheaper surface will actually be?

All that said: If I worked somewhere that offered to buy me a new laptop for 'work', I'd tell them I needed a Surface-Pro 3.

Anyone fakey Pillars of Eternity? Any good?
I've heard it's amazing, but am holding out for a deal on it. It's pretty much universally liked as far as I can tell and, more likely than not, my gf will end up buying it before I do.

She's recently torn through the remakes of both Baldur's Gates and is now playing the old-school (modded) Planescape Torment for the first time and loving it.

Easily one of the better CRPGs. If you like the style of gameplay (with no real AI) and have plenty of text to read with choices that determine the outcome of an entire region (area by area), you need to do yourself and the developer a favor and just suck it up and buy it. I've already put 54 hours into a single playthrough (Recruitable companion only party) and am planning a second playthrough (Create-an-Adventurer only party) on Path of the Damned difficulty.

It has a few drawbacks, but really fills the void for an Infinity Engine or IE-like game. They did very well with the $4m kickstarter money. There may also be a thread dedicated to it in the PC section where I expanded positive thoughts on the game. May at some point go back and talk about negatives.

Without going into specifics, I've probably rank it thus against other IE games:

P:T > BG2 > PoE > ID = ID2 > BG1 > NWN > NWN2

(Yes, I'm aware NWN & NWN2 aren't IE games. They're close enough to what IE games portray that I added them)

Sigh. I want it pretty badly.

I'll probably end up getting it later in the year, the release calendar looks pretty barren after the Batman game, so maybe a decent summer deal gets me to bite.

Trying to resist temptation of spending $30 on the DS2 Upgrade -.-
Do you really need to spend $30 on an upgrade?

As a CAG - I don't think that's a bargain at all.

That $30 is money I'd rather spend on discounted items - i.e. multiple bundles; a few AAA games; or another big-game entirely myself...since I play tons of games.

Also, how much discount on the upgrade would you expect during Steam Sales at maybe Spring or Summer Sales?

Keep that in mind, as well.

That's just how I think.

That doesn't mean that say my CAG-strategy is worthwhile for you here w/ this title.

If DS2 is something you play to death; obsess over; and eat-sleep-think-drink about all the time - maybe it's worth thinking about it.

If you surpass the requirements for the new version by a mile (i.e. you have a high-end vid-card) - maybe another reason to think about it, to show off how the new + improved engine looks on your card.

Also, you are looking at the $30 upgrade - so, sounds like you're missing DLC on original version Dark Souls 2. Depends on how much you want the DLC's and when you want them. So, maybe that's another factor to want the upgrade: ALL DLC + new engine.

If it was me, though - I'd pass and wait for a better deal.

Does CRPG really just stand for COMPUTER RPG or is there some other meaning? What makes a CRPG different from any other video game RPG?

Yes. It's a genre that was coined like decades ago. It's games like Icewind Dale, Ultima, etc.

I think back then, it was to distinguish it from pen and paper RPGs, not other genres.

Essentially it stands for Computer Role-Playing Game, yes. It doesn't really tell you what the hell that it actually means though. Without going into too much detail, it's basically a pen & paper RPG that has been adapted for the PC. This usually means it has a heavy reliance on numbers and dialogue/lore/storytelling. Ones that best represent this genre title are Ultima games, Infinite Engine games and Wizardry games (Not the Japanese created ones).

Now-a-days a CRPG is not limited to a computer anymore, it's just an old expression/term from an bygone era of gaming. However a majority of these kinds of games are still very computer-only.

Sorry, but how does the gameplay in Pillars compare to say....Divinity?
They're two entirely different games as far as I'm concerned. Divinity is entirely turned based where you take turns based on your speed in battle and perform an entire action or set of actions that is determined by your AP. In Pillars, it is essentially real-time with pause mechanics that allow you to issue/re-issue and queue (somewhat) orders. Technically in Pillars your speed of actions in battle is determined by a number of things such as your Dexterity, the kind of weapon you have equipped, your armor and any other beneficial or detrimental effects that the particular character may be experiencing. You can also slow or speed up combat in Pillars as well. It's a lot closer to games like Baldur's Gate.

Combat in this video starts at around 20:25 into the video.

I don't entirely agree with everything he says, but it should give you a brief idea while explaining a little bit.

The Dwarfs?! dev is giving away 100,000 copies of the game through SteamGifts.

http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/Kww55/dwarfs

Three days in and only 17,293 entries so far. Three days left. You might be able to get an easy +1.

Note, this is the F2P version with all paid upgrades. Whoops, guess not, this is a separate sub from the F2P version so it actually counts as +1!
