Marvel Puzzle Quest Discussion Thread

With today's DPD my Captain Marvel is now 5/5/2. I have been eyeing leveling her up a bit just to have her as another back up for my B-Team in PvE when my heavy hitters go down or are unusable.

Seems like the general consensus is 3/5/5 which I can see but how I have her now she still seems OKAY. She is only level 90 right now but I thought maybe I would spend my incoming ISO to get her to 120 to be on par with my Colossus, Daken and Torch as usable but not great characters.

Do you guys use Captain Marvel at all and if so what kind of team dynamics are you working with?

Mine is 5/2/2 after today's DPD, but only level 81. I know she's annoying to play against between turning damage to red and destroying protect tiles, but I haven't used her unless she was required. She also has the same colors as Cage, Cyclops, and Colossus, so I don't think I would use her much. I know Cage is great, I think Cyclops is too, and Colossus is one of my favorite characters. The most appealing piece might be the protect tile destruction, but Daredevil's purple or Loki's black can do something similar without requiring red to use it.

EDIT - I also think you would want someone else with her to use the red AP she generates if you're not facing someone who throws out protect tiles, but I'm not sure on that, since mine is at a low level.

TL;DR summary borrowed from the forums:
1) New costume for Quicksilver, and maybe other Avengers.
2) Next event will be Avengers Vs Ultron
3) It is the first Alliance Based Event, with the Alliance Vs Ultron
4) As a group, alliance will bring down Ultron's health to zero
5) Bringing down Ultron will move to next phase, we then fight Ultron Prime.
6) No points to gain, but win or lose, the Ultron pin will go on 8 hour cooldown.
7) Around the Ultron pin, there are five other pins, each with one Marvel Cinematic Universe Avenger character as essential. Can use any version of the character (2* 3* thor, 1* 2* 3* IM, etc).
8) Each node has new ultron minions that have no active powers just passive, and new tiles that drop could have random attack/strike/protect tiles.
9) After beating each Avenger node, the Ultron node is unlocked. Thus you can do the ultron node 6 times every 8 hours. After 8 hours the Avengers nodes are refreshed with new essentials.
10) Quicksilver will have 2 pins each round. Man........
11) Ultron doesn't match tiles, but every turn - bottom row blows up, and one special tile drops. If this tile reaches bottom it blows up for big damage.
12) Captain America is undervalued? huh?
13) NO COMPETITION IN EVENT. ALL REWARDS ARE PROGRESSION REWARDS.
14) Last three progression rewards are for the three Scarlet Witch covers.
15) Special Avengers vs Ultron token, similar to anniversary token, 50hp each.
16) Sounds like the individual contribution to the alliance score is locked to that alliance, and leaving the alliance will leave you with only your scores against Ultron.
17) EVENT WILL BE FUN. Live on 24th April for first round.

Yeah the game wouldn't even load up for me earlier and I just gave up haha

I am concerned with the casual Alliance's performance with this Ultron event. The Alliance is pretty weak which is as to be expected but DS and Marauder have been AFK for over a month in the Alliance : /

 
what makes me sick is i grind the last 2 hours of  the PVE and  PVP  and both ended at  3pm and 4pm est time.   So i will not be able to move up my ranking (who knows how bad i feel from 6am this morning until the servers crashed)  and nothing will be done about this they will say it effected all players so nothing will be handed out.

 
Seems we would be someone to clear the board quickly or Falcon since these goons drops a lot of strike tiles.

2 of the 5 essential nodes are Quicksilver. d'oh.

DD's purple has been useful for clearing the trash while doing damage.  Loki's black and SquirrelGirl's purple should be useful when leveled.

Also - feel free to use BP's black, since giving the other side AP does nothing for them.

At least between rounds 3 & 4, I think the essential chars stayed the same.   It could easily change to other Avengers in later rounds, or in the next run of this event, but I haven't seen any info.

Yeah, Falcon is too slow for this. Also, if you remove certain Sentries tiles, it triggers their other abilities. I've been using Cage or Spidey to throw up cheap protect tiles and just mitigating the damage. All these battles are so chaotic, I can't really tell what's going on half the time. I haven't found a great team for Ultron (non-prime) yet, I've mostly been using Hulk, Steve, and Deadpool. Thunderous Clap is such a crapshoot in that mode, it might get rid of the tile or move it further down. At least with Steve, you can overwrite Ultron's tiles, but if you use it on a lower one, you'll lose that AP. Also, stun is useless, but at least it's another shot to overwrite a tile. Deadpool is good for chopping his health down quickly.

What round is the competitive alliance on? Us lowlifes are on 4, and it's not looking promising.

I've found Steve, X-Force, and Spidey to be my most reliable team against Ultron. Just need to watch out when using X black that there aren't too many black tiles underneath a bomb.

We're on round 7 and ultron has less than 1/3 of his health left. I'm hoping we finish Round 8 tomorrow. Most of us have reached the 500k, gravel and Koju coming up on the second Quicksilver cover.

Looks like you made the second Quicksilver too Sean. I just pulled a purple Scarlet Witch from an even token. Looks like we're on round 8 now, 2 days 8 hours to finish him off.

 
My Ultron tokens have been a whole lot of nuthin'. I pulled something like three golds, all for covers I can't use.

At least it looks like the competitive alliance will have 1/1/1 Wandas, tokens or not. The fights this round are starting to get a little more health chewing, but a round of clears is still leaving me with health packs left. So even if not everyone can get full clears, there should be enough of us to get it unlocked.
 
Good for you guys. An event that I actually wanted to play, and I have no chance of getting any of the top rewards. Just another FU from MPQ to me. No good Ultron pulls, finally opened 39 standards to find 1 useless -2 star, and a top alliance ranking which is limited only by overall alliance performance (and no Quicksilver). fuck this game bums me out.

I have been really busy with stuff the past few days! Ah! I just jumped in this afternoon and wished I had made time earlier!

Gah I am so sorry. Looks like our alliance is doing pretty piss poor unfortunately. I blasted through every fight I could with Ultron and am waiting for the reset. He is a cakewalk to beat each time, far easier than I would have expected.

I got super lucky and pulled a Scarlet Witch from one of the tokens too.

Yeah there is absolutely no way I will be reaching anywhere near the QS progression rewards and it seems we are pretty tight to even get to any of the SW ones : /

once he goes down for the 8th time (to open up the last reward) he stays down , so if your far behind there is no way your going to get your million pts in. My team just opened up the final stage

4.5 million on stage 7

6 million on stage 8

what sucks is how fast the AI jumps my best people are level 88 yet the range is 99 to 132 (its like fighting the dead pool dailys what i cant)

i have enough whales to get a cover but i dont think the blue cover is worth a whale. going to save the whale for maybe a hulk buster. First i thought this was better then the PVE but now starting to really hate it. I can see many teams being ripped apart after this event when they run it again.

If he does stay down after round 8 i will be VERY lucky to get 300k and a token out of it. nowhere near the 500k needed for QS even if he does get back up i highly doubt i get 500k... Need 200k in 2 days done attacking for tonight if i can attack this

2 attacks tomorrow morning lucky to get 30k

2 attacks tomorrow night lucky to get 30

2 attacks tuesday morn 30

2 attacks tue night 30

420k going to miss the low reward by around 100k, now if i was able to get in when it first start maybe (we was in round 3 or 4 beore i could even log in friday

so far got 2 pink and one green on witch

and if you think its hard now wait till weds if HULKBUSTER is a 4 star I dont even want to think about the scaling

Ah! I thought all those "retry" nodes around Ultron to earn another attempt at him were once per ULTRON, not once every 8 hours. I thought the 8 hour reset was just to fight Ultron himself. Damn, I really screwed the pooch jumping into this one a bit late : /

Or it looks like it is every day and I just timed it right when it switched? Either way I am pissed I didn't start this earlier.

Yeah, the nodes around Ultron refresh on their own global timer (same time for everyone regardless of when you complete them) that isn't shown. The 8 hour timer on Ultron is when you can fight him again if you don't beat any of the surrounding nodes. Then, it also opens again if you move on to the next round of Ultron.

Like gravel said, there are two different timers, both 8 hours. The surrounding nodes reset at noon eastern and so on. So it just reset about 45 minutes ago. So if you're wanting to maximize points, it's probably best to clear all 5 nodes, allow ultron to get his full 8h refresh, and then go through the reset nodes again. That's rather difficult as I usually run out of health packs before then. But 5 clears over 8 hours should get you to the QS progressions. Me and six others (including gravel and koju) have reached the 1M mark. Two others are really close and Sidlon only need 5-6 more clears. Round 8 has 1.5M health left
 
Hah there is no possible way for me to get the QS rewards unfortunately. Even if I played all that I could I still wouldn't be able to break that score since I joined so late in the game. Womp womp womp. And our Alliance definitely is not looking like it will hit teh SW covers either. We have 13 active people and a few of those even aren't doing anything.

What round are the CAGvengers on? I didn't think I could make it but you can get more points than you think. Even if you guys are on round 5-6, it's possible to get 100k+ points every 8h. But have an active alliance and advancing rounds obviously helps your point potential a lot more
 
Just started round 5 this morning. I've been the leading point-getter for every round, and I just cracked (or almost cracked) 500k. I don't have Quicksilver, so that's limited my points by at least 150k so far, since I can only beat Ultron 3-4x every 8 hours.

Ohh yeah. I wasn't think about that. Points and prizes are definitely harder to come by without QS. Broly has one cover but he's basically dead weight, so that doesn't help with clearing the nodes.

I read that as I was dead weight at first. Haha I was like what a dick! I said I was sorry! Hahah But yeah having just the one Blue especially makes him even worse, he locks tiles but doesnt get to benefit from them and it has actually screwed me over on some 4/5-matches because of that hah

...not that it means squat seeing as we basically have me, ltrain and Juggernaut being the only ones to remotely carry their weight. Times like this I do miss running our competitive alliance like a Nazi. Haha oh well.

I really wish they would have extended the time seeing as the first day we couldnt really play at all due to network shit. I tried to right when it was out and if I had and really seen right at the start how beneficial this event is I would have made time to play. Womp womp womp could have should have would have

Yeah, I basically quit trying once I realized we had no chance... which translates to me having no chance. The fact that it's a cool event doesn't mean sh*t when even your personal rewards are based on the alliance's performance.

 
got to wonder what they are going to say about the  outage today.  I say not much     it screwed up my season and PVE since my  PVE ended at 3pm  and  PVP ended at 7  pm and could not log in from 1pm to  8pm that night

If we push we can at least finish this 5th round I feel like at least and get one more token. But yeah though if they announce they are going to be doing this again I will definitely be a little more strict with CAGvengers. Still casual but we need people who are at least playing all around.

Gah, I am still missing Thorina AND Prof X anyway. My 3-star line-up is pretty stellar whereas my 4-star line-up is pretty much non-existent haha

I just got my third 4* Thor from daily rewards, 1/1/1 now! Only took 550 days!

  * higher chance of 3* from heroic/event tokens

  * no more rotation of token chars

  * PVE endtimes adjusted

  * PVE subs will always be 24h or 48h

  * no more downtime between PVEs

  * every week, some set of chars will be boosted in all PVE and PVP events

Reduced leveling ISO costs not included yet - have to wait for R75.

 
And as always their network messes up when I am on the train home which as you all know is my main MPQ time.. Two times now over one event. Awesome.
 
I played this game for about three weeks last year around this time but stopped since my phone was a bit on the older side and the game didn't run smooth.

Just got the new Galaxy S6 and it runs a lot better! Getting back into it now.

I don't have a lot of play time under my belt and my team needs a lot of work but I should be able to play everyday (on my breaks/lunch at work and before I go to bed), if there are any open spots in a CAG alliance, I'd be interested!

 
MPQ loads then won't advance any further and tells me to check my internet connection.  Yeah, thanks, MPQ, I'm not the problem here.

 
anyone need a teammate, got though all  8 rounds last time. was booted from my team cause i was  NOT Playing  PVE that hard . how the hell do you play  PVE  hard when the system is freaking down
