Let's get some numbers. New poll idea:

Do you still play your PS3 after buying a PS4?

1. Yes

2. No

3. Never had a PS3

4. Haven't upgraded

I love how everyone online is so excited that they can replay their old games again with Xbox One backwards compatibility, even though they still own Xbox 360's and could still replay them whenever they want anyway.

Backwards compatibility is the feature everybody thinks they want but nobody actually uses. Many people here have basically said they've written off the PS3 ever since getting a PS4, including Stotch a while back.
I play my PS3 all the time, dum dum. I'm pretty sure a lot of people here do as well. Given the chance to download the PS3 games I have on PS4, I would absolutely be all over it. And who wouldn't? You're a liar if you're saying you have both consoles and you'd prefer to play games on PS3 when they're available on PS4. A liar, damnit.

Ok, so now I've read two posts about "going back" to PS3 games. I can't believe I have to spell this out, I thought it was obvious.

Most people here have PS3 backlogs in the 100s. I know you do, Tyler, you told me the other day. All of those games you haven't touched yet, imagine...imagine...that you could have them on the superior Playstation console. You're really going to sit there and say that's not something to get excited about?

A god damn liar.

What's the benefit? The graphics aren't upscaled. I can already use a PS4 controller on PS3. The streaming and video capture editing features would be cool.

Would I use it? Probably. Is it a feature everyone needs to be wetting themselves over? No.

My PS3 sits right next to my PS4 and turns on and runs great. I'm not sold it would be worth the effort to download most of my backlog to my PS4.

I regularly see 1-2 PSNOT members on their PS3 ever time I turn mine on.  It's quite frequently Topside and Zimm, and Zimm is only on there cuz of necessity.

This dialogue in The Division demo is hella cheesy. No online game ever has played out like that.

Its more like "Quick shoot that motherfucker over there! Aww you dumb ass!"

Edit: topside'd

That would suck and I could understand it being more beneficial in a situation like that. But most people I see talking about backward compatibility are admitting they still have 360s.
Yea and those 360s especially won't last forever, and now there's no worries.about the hundreds and thousands of dollars they spent on xbla games.

I am playing JC2 now on PS3. I sold my 360 and PS3. Ended up buying a new PS3.

I'm telling you, very few people are actually going to go back to those older games. I guess it creates tons of hype (even if the announcement is two years late) but I would LOVE to see the percentage of time the Xbox One is used to play old 360 games.

It doesn't matter; people still welcome it as a useful feature. It's like Twitch streaming. I imagine the number of PS4 owners that actually use it is tiny, but you'd bitch about it if they took it out.

I think it's a very cool feature and I wish PS4 had it. I just think it's being super overhyped here/on Reddit/on NeoGAF for how much it's actually going to be utilized.

I didn't actually watch the "demo" for The Division, but was it as awkward as this Rainbow Six: Siege "demo" sounds?

EDIT: Huh, it doesn't sound or look that bad, actually.

Not really. The division was a lot of fake banter and conversations, this one is actual strategy and call outs. SOCOM and R6 Vegas were the same way. Never played ARMA, but that seems like another game where this is necessary.

If they want to make it realistic, they should just chat like most of PSNOT:

ME: "Hey where do you want to go next?"

[10 seconds of silence]

ME: "Well lets go to Zone X, that work for everyone?"

[5 seconds of silence]

COOP PLAYER 1: "Yeah that's ok"

[45 seconds of silence]

ME: "Did you hear about that new video game news?"

COOP PLAYER 1: "I dunno"

COOP PLAYER 2: "Yeah, it looks ok"

COOP PLAYER 3: [silence]

That's how coop really is.

EDIT: Although I remember the Destiny guys actually putting communication to good use during raids.

I think BC is a nice feature but I think back to the xbox compatibility on the 360 and I think I used it for Ninja Gaiden Black and that ended up being it despite having Fable and a few others at the time that I ended up just selling off.

I still play my PS3 even with the PS4. I just finished Batman Arkham Origins on it. I'll ditch my 360 from my entertainment center long before my PS3. It would be nice to have everything on one system but with only 100 games to start I'd hate to have only a percentage of what I own moved over....because I'm sure that would end up being the case and I'd be stuck keeping the "old system" anyway.

I'm not a fan of games with medieval characters, but For Honor could change my mind. I like how it takes a while to make contact with an opponent - resulting in sword clashing.

Trials: Angry Pussy Edition could be fun.

I have yet to find a good Tom Clancy game.   Could The Division and Rainbow Six change that?

Not sure what to think of new Ass Creed.

PS: I still use my PS3.

My estimated numbers

Time spent playing Xbox Games on 360 - 8 hours

Time spent playing PS2 Games on PS3 - 10 hours

Time spent playing GC Games on Wii - 4 hours

And I have gigantic backlogs on all.

Clancy this. Clancy that. Again, prove me wrong and convince me there's a good Tom Clancy game.

South Park and cat riding unicorns were the highlight for me.

Was the Just Dance sequence worse than the Dance Central sequence with Usher singing?

The conference as a whole wasn't bad, but I'd rank it last far.

Rankings from best to worst so far:

1. Microsoft

2. Bethesda

3. EA

4. Ubisoft

Cmon Sony. Make me proud.

Dark Gritty shooter. Ubisoft is really reaching on this one huh? I mean, they only have 3 in the pipeline already, why not add a 4th?
Seriously. I don't think I've ever been interested in a Tom Clancy game (I played through one of the Splinter Cells.. it was okay) and they show'd what, four of em? Wouldn't have thought, but even with all that boring sports stuff EA trounced Ubi. Such a boring show with no surprises.

You know I'm sure you're right. It was a huge firebomb of an announcement and the giving away bc titles with new games was a nice touch, but I imagine it gets used as much as ps1/ps2/psp classics. And that is to say once a year I play ultimate ghouls n ghosts for 5 minutes and then get pissed off.

To be 100% honest if they brought it to ps4 I'd just sell my second ps3 and use the bc to finish the last handful of online trophies I have before selling my other ps3 and getting a roku for Netflix and shit (so I can still remote play while watching oitnb).

It's hard to look at the crapload of ps3 titles from PS+ freebies/sales and abandon the console altogether, but maybe that would be a good idea.

tl;dr it was an awesome pr stunt, but probably not all that useful compared to the amount of money/time they put in to it

Why didn't anyone tell me there was a Rocky Rococo in the Twin Cities?!?!?

Sony just won E3 by getting me into this suberb I've never been to to watch their shitty VR conference where I discovered a goddamn Rocky Rococo.

I have it for the Vita and really digging it so far. Not a fan of the lego games that much but so far this one has kept me playing.

So, Ubisoft had no other highlights besides South Park? (which I didnt hear about a release date for)
