Am I the only one who didn't love this conference? Last Guardian and Horizon looked good but Media Molecules sucked, Arkham Knight made no sense since its out next week and ending on UC4 instead of something new?
Agree on all points. A solid showing, but few surprises (which is typical nowadays, I guess.

FF7 remake was kind of spoiled and is probably a long ways off. It's gonna be a timed exclusive so you guys can't even system brag about it. I'm with mild that it is probably going to be real disappointing when it finally comes out. A lot of the charm of the original is going to be lost when you apply modern day Square's lengthy cutscenes and terrible voice acting.

The kid went to bible school tonight and said she saw her friend that passed away. I said "What!?" And she goes, "Yeah, he passed away to a different preschool."

I thought she was seeing dead people.

hahaha

Yeah I mean outside of Media Molecules nothing was bad, just uneventful I guess.  Last Guardian was somewhat expected and same with FF7 so they were not big jaw-dropping surprises.  They also really screwed up the No Man's Sky demo it looked so flat compared to last year.  I dont care if you have 500 planets when they all take 2 minutes to explore.

Hmm, might be a Dead Zone thing instead of Sixth Sense. See if that kid ends up dying in the next few days.

Eh, I thought the Kickstarter thing was lame. "Heres a game that might get made if a lot of people pledge money!"
Kickstarter is just being co-opted to use as advertising, they're not really going to make Shenmue 3 for $2 Million. It's just like that it's-not-Castlevania-wink-wink game where publishers are providing the majority of the dough. I am disappointed there is no physical PS4 release. It is also puzzling they are not doing any kind of minor remasters (even if it was just a straightish port like Sonic Adventure) since Shenmue 1 nor 2 is available on PC and Shenmue 2 was only released in America on Xbox 360. Maybe for a stretch goal?

FFVII isn't an exclusive, which is a huge missed opportunity by Sony. They should've thrown so much fucking money at Square to lock that up. That's an absolute no brainer, and they dropped the ball hard.

Major fail on their part.
Naa, I don't think so. Better they save their money for other stuff rather than cockblock MS. Based on most other games it'll be better on PS4 anyway. A timed exclusive will help push console sales for the diehards, and after that the longevity of the exclusivity is meaningless; anybody that cares will have gotten a PS4 by then.

I thought the presser was pretty good overall.

They spent like 2 minutes on morpheus and basically just show game after game after game.

That new horizon game looked dope, it was the best new game for me.

Strange coin replica is pretty cool looking, not sure ill spring for that though as I just need the expansion.
I'm a little mad that there isn't a collectors edition with just TTK. Especially because it includes in game stuff like exotic class items, which we don't have any of now. Basically a big fuck you to everyone that's been supporting the game since day one.

Well looking at the site the taken king only gets you a 1 year emblem, shader, and sparrow.

Think those are specific to just that version. The exotic class items mention xp bonus, maybe to help new players level up quicker?

People will bitch enough for bungie to give it to everyone maybe.

I did seriously LOL when they did World of Final Fantasy first to troll, and then they panned to the crowd and the looks on their faces were SO dispirited.

people were shitting on that uc4 gameplay? that shit was awesome.
It was amazing. It wasn't the fact that everything looked pretty, which was great, but that so much was destructable and that size and open-ness of the city. Having that chase scene let you go wherever you want (apparently) was brilliant.

I was pretty impressed aside from the MM thing. The reveal of The Last Guardian, FF7, Hitman, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Shenmue 3 were all great. Gameplay was really nice on Uncharted 4 and BO3. Firewatch looked interesting.

I do wish they'd add BC. If it were universal I'd move my console gaming to PS4 entirely. I don't care what you weirdos say, I've got a huge PS3 backlog and I'm still actively playing that shit. Not having to move my Golds from PS3 to PS4 and back would be fantastic. So would only having to deal with the newer, faster interface, having all my games in one place, and being able to use the DS4 for everything.

They don't need to give it to everyone. They can make a $60 collectors edition that just include TTK. But fucking Christ, the digital collectors edition is the same price as the physical, but you don't get any of the awesome stuff that comes with the physical version. It's clear activision/Bungie has no idea what they're doing with prices on this thing.

I see it as putting money where your mouth is. Mighty No.9 and Bloodstained proved Kickstarter worked and now Shenmue 3 (which is past $1 million as I am typing this) will show people will buy it and how much they are willing to spend to get it.

People left these big companies and are going on to get these games they (or other fans) wanted to make made. I wouldn't be surprised if Hideo Kojima does something like this for a future project.

Sony did so much right tonight. Even as I was typing, they were showing stuff so I have to replay the conference to see what I missed. One thing I am thrilled about is their coverage for virtual reality. It was EXTREMELY brief and the term "choice" was used so it's not forced to play every game. Very smart approach and made time to announce more games. I'll have more thoughts on the conference tomorrow. In the meantime, I need sleep for work which starts in 6 hours .

Rank from best to worst so far:

1. Sony

2. Microsoft

3. Bethesda

4. EA

5. Ubisoft

And did I miss where everyone flipped out about the shiny new media capabilities of ps4? I thought that was a gigantic travesty when it was released.
They announced in the pre-show so I don't think many people caught it or paid attention. I've got it up and running with some music using the PS3 Media Server program. No issues yet.

I had a weird pair of video game related dreams last night.

I dreamed about a new game two-pack, I can only remember one of them, "M Frequency." It's an open world game in which spies can ride motorcycles and hunt each other. You pick either a male or female spy, and it's slightly campy. Both are issued over-the top, James Bond-esque gadgets and tools, like standard issue, utility, pink lingerie, for both the female and male spy for some reason. In the game the spy steers the bike with sensors on their shoulders and hips, leaving them free to use both hands to handle weapons while driving.

I also dreamed that David Hasselhoff became obsessed with Dark Souls and started twitch streaming challenge runs.

what kind of game is Shenmue? what genre?
Like an RPG in an early version of an open world mechanic, set in modern day Japan (well, modern circa early 2000) with Virtua Fighter combat mechanics. It's also the game that popularized the QTE.

Also...sailor seeking.
