I love how I have to look in 5000 places to see all the different sale prices now, and even then they don't all show up.

Why are they mad or why is it awesome?

They're mad because lots of their core series (and almost all the new game announcements) are just spinoffs this year:

Mario - Tennis spinoff, Creation game Spinoff

Animal Crossing - Decorating game, Party game

Metroid - Coop game spinoff of some kind and a soccer

Zelda - Coop game of some kind

Star Fox, Mario & Luigi 3DS, and Fire Emblem are the only non-spinoffs that weren't already known about (and Star Fox was kinda known about). That leaves 0 or 1 mainline WiiU titles announced today.

As for why it's awesome? Because everybody was all over Nintendo's conference last year and they could literally do no wrong.

We knew about Fire Emblem too. Nothing new this year except that Mario & Luigi thing.

Didn't announce a kick ass new next gen console with 50 games bundled in for $100 available now.

Seriously though I am not sure what but people are so jaded now short of a grandslam everything sucks.
how much suck could a sucka suck if a sucka could suck suck?

wait, so platinum games is doing:

- cartoon transformers game (multiplat)

- starfox zero (wiiu)

- nier 2 (ps4)

- scalebound (x1)

is that right?  hardest working studio in showbiz.

Transformers and SFZ this year, Scalebound and Nier 2 next, looks like.

I didn't catch that Nier 2 is PS4-only. Did they specifically say that, does anybody recall? Somebody marked it as such on the wikipedia page.

Two of the 3 people I played PayDay 2 with bought the new version and want me to play it with them again.  Honestly, that sounds like more fun than a lot of other options I have to play.  The PS3 one did not make me motion sick, I hope that the better graphics don't change that.

I thought about buying the game since I was planning on dropping Gamefly, but that seems stupid when 3 months of 2 at a time would be less than buying the game.  Looks like I won't be stopping my subscription for while now.  I might have to rent more Wii U games for the next couple of months though.

All purchases in the PlayStation store this week give you 3x the reward points.  In case peeps were holding out or on the fence about getting something.

You'll enjoy the list a lot more too. Took a few of those crappy luck trophies and just added more difficulty trophies. I kind of wish I picked it up when it had the GC or when it was on sale psn.

Oh I am still seriously considering that route as well. But if I have the opportunity to go out with a woman who is 10 years younger and looks as good as this girl I will try it. I dont really want to take her out and spend a good amount of money if I wont be getting any but I gotta take the chance this time. It may be the last.
Go for it man. Ten years younger for me would land me in jail.

Yeah, I am really glad "Guessing Game" and "They see me Baggin', They Hatin'" trophies are gone. The DLC made the second one doable though I guess.

Not looking forward to trying to complete all jobs on Deathwish, but we will give it a shot.

DLC?

If you had a full group, which you mentioned, "They see me Baggin', They Hatin'" was really simple. "guessing game" on the other had was a bitch to do.

I'm actually looking forward to the harder difficulties as Overkill wasn't bad and you can probably level up faster. Level 100 is the only trophy I didn't get in the previous game.

Yes, they added a huge free DLC pack that added some new missions. Before that, the only way to get the garage escape with enough bags to get that trophy was on one particular heist. The number of bags was random and you had to get very far along to know if you had enough. We ran that heist with 4 people probably 50 times. When we got enough bags we never got the Garage Escape and always got the Overpass. It was totally luck based. It was easy once you got an opportunity to try, but the game was stingy with those opportunities.

The DLC added a couple new heists where you knew early on if you had enough bags and could restart if you didn't to try again. That was the only reason we finally got that one.

ETA: You are probably thinking Short Fuse.

So the Packers dominate the entire trailer until Eli "fuck You" Manning pulls another horseshoe out of his ass for the win.  fuck you New York Football Giants and fuck you Madden trailer makers and your anti-Packer bias!

It's also quite a bit darker in content then the rest of their presentation was. Might have been considered unsuitable for the audience of most of the other games.
Considering how practically everyone is considering Nintendo's whole presentation "unsuitable", it would have (barely) softened the blow.

Nope I was thinking "they see me baggin...". Pretty sure I played the game after the update so that's why I thought it was so easy.

Nope, you got it before. You are just almost as lucky as Pitfall apparently.

I cant believe you got all those other crazy hard luck based ones and just didnt finish getting to level 100 for the plat. It was a ridiculous grind though.

Lol is the internet really that mad at the Nintendo conference? It was fairly boring but they've got a solid lineup coming.

They've got 4 franchises with main games coming up (Star Fox, Fire Emblem, Yoshi, Zenoblade) and a bunch of their standard offshoots. Most of it we knew about, yeah, but it's looking like a solid release schedule for Nintendo. I wasn't outstandingly excited or anything, but I was pretty happy that the Wii U seemed like it'd have a steady stream of good games. Personally most excited for the new Fire Emblem and the SMT x FE game. The SMT game is obviously more niche tho, so I can see why less people care.

Biggest surprise was the ultimate kiddie evil by mixing amiibo and skylanders tho lol

I guess I'm sort of a sucker for Starfox but the fact that it's somewhat being made by Nintendo (finally) has me excited to give it a go. I really dug the new Paper Mario meets Mario & Luigi game. I think Metroid was largely a miss because it looked like shit and what is it? Everything else was ho-hum for me but the conference overall wasn't that bad I thought.

Yeah, all 3 of the PS1 titles had the terrible camera controls. FFX does as well, which I was disappointed to see when I started up FFX HD. It wouldn't be near as bad if there were one camera per scene, but walking across the room with one POV and then suddenly switching cameras so that you're walking left instead of up is just annoying as hell.
Aw shit yeah I forgot about that. That was the most annoying thing and was a major reason I just quit the game. That and the load times and slow ass character walk. I think my ADD started about this time too. I blame FF.
I think the key question here is WHEN did you guys play these games? Yes, games have come a long way so it's hard to go back to some mechanics from yesteryear but I'm guessing neither of you played this at it's release. Back then this game was cream of the crop and well deserved if only for the scale it set for future RPGs.

I appreciate its place in history, but with the mediocrity of its story and uninteresting characters almost every FF is a better candidate for a remake.
I agree with you for the most part, but it's place in history is the reason why a lot of people love it. As an RPG fan, I had never played one that was so grandiose before FF7. I can almost guarantee that if FF8 or 9 had come out in it's place they'd be set on that pedestal simply for that fact alone.

I played FF7 upon release. I bought a PS1 for it, actually. FF9 upon release as well, though I only got about a disc into that one before losing interest. The camera and graphics weren't the reason I ended up not liking the games at the time. When they came out they looked great, at least.
