Batman is alright so far. Nothing super impressive, more of the same Batman. If you like the series, you'll like this game.
This is the impression I'm getting too. And I also think the batmobile controls could be a little tighter... I actually went into the upgrades menu expecting to see that you could spend points on the handling, but no dice.

The beauty to me is in all fanfare and fine details.

Like when you visit the police department and the prisoner is mouthing off to you from his cell... if you walk up to him and press x batman grabs the back of his head and slams his face into the bars FTW

Of course the Red Hood DLC is way more rare on the trade thread here, because nobody on CAG is stupid enough to have pre-ordered from Gamestop.

Bids are up to $20+ on ebay for it. God people are so fucking dumb with money.

No issues with the batmobile controls at all for me. You guys must suck. I think it's cool how
you can switch to battle mode and back
.
Is that really a spoiler? You're taught that within the first 10 minutes of using the Batmobile and I thought it was common knowledge by this point.

I agree that it's really cool, though.

They announced that all the preorder DLC will be released within 6 weeks of launch or something like that. I guess people can't wait or just don't know.

I havnt dealt with confusious in years, but he used to hate on myself and the flipper community alot. He would get mods involved etc. wahwahwah. iamthecheapestgamer and him would just go off on each other in the main threads before we had private flip groups

In confucius' defense, cheapestgamer killed the BBY penny guides for everyone. He kind of deserved getting yelled at whenever possible.

I've traded with both confucius and cheapest here on the forums, for what it's worth (obviously, about a penny).

Im tempted on that. Can you save in game?
No trophies. ♡
I did test the collection after transferring via my PS3. Works fine. I fired up Sonic and you can save and load games in there. I'm assuming the other games all have the same capability, since Sonic didn't have it on the initial Genesis release IIRC.

oh no I overslept! no early ass batman time for me today.
I didn't oversleep. Played another hour this morning. Starting to grow on me a bit probably end up being my second favorite of the 3 (or 4 for those who consider that other game).

The tank combat is pretty lame but using the batmobile in other ways is kind of neat. Still have very mixed feelings on how much the Bat Mobile is used

Batman's story got a little freaky last night.  In a good way.  Entertaining.  Still think the batmobile driving controls are junk but its fun to blow away the other cars.

I agree with Mild.  Its definitely easier and more fun to glide and zip line around instead of driving.

Still on the fence a little about The Batman. The batmobile is mostly annoying more than anything.

Story so far aint bad, Im about 40% through the main storyline, not doing any side stuff yet other than some of the riddler deal.

The riddler stuff is pretty tame for the challenges so far, havent went for any of the riddler trophies really. Last challenge I did was the second or third one in the orphanage, one with the electric charge, physics room I think.

Just got to the part in the story where you tag a van to follow it after meeting up with Nightwing, gonna try and knock out the story first and then go back and clean up stuff, definitely not going for plat, just beat it quick and trade back.

damn 40% through - my progress is completely neutered because I just keep driving around / flying around the city and getting in to fights. I stalked an intersection and pounced on cars for half an hour last night for fun + trophy. I'm sure the actual game and story are dope, but as a batman playground simulator it excels past all the other games by a mile. like top was talking about there's a lot of little details that make that part of it shine - the ground level chatter, the bad guys taunting you when you're just sitting there staring at them from a lamp post, the cars that are chasing each other in a shootout - they really did make the city feel pretty lively. you can get up on some of the buildings and admire the little details like the halloween decorations or the fact that you can see helicopters that you just flew past harassing hooligans. but you can also just blindly jump in to a street with 25 bad guys in it and go to town because why the fuck not.

I also took one swing at the first riddler race before I left and got 40.85 and it wouldn't post to the leaderboards because of stupid suspend/resume janking the psn connection. what are those red butting heads that you get one of if you beat the time by > 1s? vig?

First off, you may have noticed this, but you won't earn XP from fighting random thugs in the street until you progress further in the story (at least, I think that's how it works--a thread on PST.org seemed to claim this).

As for those red-butting-heads, they're called Rival Points but I'm not sure what they're for other than bragging rights.

yeah, I guess the point was that for the first time in a loooong time I found myself just dicking around and having fun in an open world game without thinking about progressing. once I realized that's what I was doing I was pretty surprised.

I am just going to concentrate on the story and do random things later on.  That way I can trade it in whenever I want.  The story is pretty cool so far.

I did one side event and that was the first riddler race or whatever it is called.  Thats the main reason I bitched about the driving.  I had to restart that race a lot to get the three stars.  Oh and I did get that rival point too.  Suck it bitches!

do we know how to find the firefighters?  I found the first via waypoint but I cant get a waypoint to point me to the next one

I read somewhere that there's a "true ending" if you have 100%, so I've been working on side content to ensure I get that. I'll try to confirm in case I read wrong.

I hate the idea of "true ending".

Yeah I had the same problem. I wonder if they are in the same general area and not marked or something? I gave up on it and then got stuck in the Riddler race and wasn't going to let me progress to the main story till I got that done. I am not doing any of the side stuff till I am done with the story unless the game gets too hard and I need to level up.

I was a little "busy" giggity.

Re: fireman, you'll hear police chatter about a hostage situation. Go to that area, pop dwtective mode, and look for a bunch of orange glowing armed dudes. They'll be there.

It's a weird compulsion to watch it after earning it. I'm weird. Except when it's a choice-based ending, like Far Cry 3.

Giggity? Please, giggity.

Don't Starve was free on PS+, and the Giant Edition was a free upgrade, then the upgrade became cross-buy. It's a whole big free thing.

I tried using the dice but they just seemed clumsy. I'll experiment with the others a bit more.

The feet thing is a bit odd. I had discovered that, but you don't land exactly where the feet indicate which caused me to fall to my death once already when I tried using it for precision jumping.
Are you not holding jump all the way through the jump? That might have something to do with it. I also didn't like the dice since it is random which monster you summon based on your roll.

That flipper dude is weird. Cracking up that he thinks everything is about him.
I actually don't remember the Confusious flipping thing, but it's funny. I actually do like the guy tho.
I tried finding anything on it using google last night. All I found was him chastizing someone who sold 5 of them on ebay in one of the SMAS threads, ryan something bringing up the flip in early 2011 in an OTT and confucius saying what the fuck are you talking about. Found another post where he said he bought one to play, and one to keep sealed. *shrugs*

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who immediately thought of a different Flocka.

Batman is awesome. I won't try and rank it against the other games until I've finished it, but it will probably give AA a run for its money as my favorite. Driving the batmobile is definitely going to take some getting used to. Took me a decent number of tries to 3 star the first riddler race. The first tank challenge also took me a bit. I assume that's because you need to upgrade your weapons to make it easier (you get bonus points for secondary weapon variation or something at the end, but I was only using one weapon I think).

Mild nailed it, though. Cruising/flying around a fully realized Gotham (more or less) is all I wanted since the first game. And this definitely gets that down better than AC and Origins combined.

Edit: Anyone check out a scarecrow mission yet? I saw one on my map but when I went to it it said "Warning high level mission" or something like that. I assume I should progress further and upgrade some stuff, but if you guys think it isn't too bad to 3 star (do those even have stars?) I may check it out anyway.

I guess everyone probably already has it, but that stealth inc ultimatest bundle in this weeks deals is a pretty good deal.  All stealth inc 1 + 2 + dlc stuff cross buy for $8.50.

I also finished Castle of Illusion yesterday. One other annoyance is several times the camera is too zoomed in, and that's the reason I die. For instance, there is a section where stationary suits of armor have come to life. Those facing the camera will slam their mace down when you get close and those facing sideways will periodically chuck their mace like a boomerang. You have to jump to a platform with a mace slammer, then immediately jump to a platform guarded by a mace chucker before the slammer comes down, but from the safe platform you can't see where the boomerang mace is currently. So several times I jumped off the slammer platform and was hit in the face mid-jump with the boomerang mace because I couldn't see it until it was too late.

I had trouble with the first tank challenge too but thats only because I didnt realize you could strafe while in battle mode.
you only need to move when they target you and you see the line turning red. its real easy and i didnt upgrade anything. also you can one shot the tanks if you hit their gun or whatever at the top. cake.

I was head bobbing as I tried to stay awake at 1am last night. A triple rum and coke didnt help I am sure.

yeah same here. they should really have a 'hey dumbass you can strafe' message pop up in huge text over the entire screen instead of the nothing that they show instead.

Thank god munky posted about changing the controls for battlemode, shit is so much better once you turn that on. battlemode toggle I think its called.

You guys didn't know you could strafe in Battle Mode? That should be one of the first things you notice when you try to move around.
SHUT UP VIG! ASSHOLE!

No I didnt realize you could strafe. I was driving around to move out of the way and then hit battle mode to try and kill those fuckers. Then I would get blown up cause I just didnt hit the left stick while in battle mode so I was a sitting duck.

Pretty excited to get home and keep playing AK. This one definitely grabbed my attention in a way Origins didn't. I'll probably still go back and finish Origins once I'm done with Knight, but still.

I found the first fireman by just driving around and hearing some random penguin thugs talking about beating him up. No real complaints about the batmobile controls yet, but I haven't done any of the driving challenges yet. I kept gliding off and leaving the batmobile behind lol. The tank mode is pretty cool.

Hopefully my leaderboard will be working tonight, couldn't figure out what was up with it last night. Tried quitting out of the game a couple times to see if that would help but no luck.

all of the cheap deaths / hits is one of the things that made the game feel like an older platformer which is what made me like it.

I played a couple hours last night had a late dinner and didn't feel like going back to it. This morning after an hour I didn't want to stop and get ready for work. I am actually looking forward to going home and playing it tonight though.
