Pretty close to done with most of CoD:Ghosts. Got the plat and finished the first 2 DLCs and basically just finished the 3rd one. Just have one easy trophy left on that one before moving on to the 4th and hardest of the DLCs. Bad news is that the trophy sites are dead when looking for co-op partners on any of the DLCs, but the good news is that most of the randoms that still play them have basically all the upgrades unlocked and know what they're doing.

Would like to be playing Batman right now, but I totally forgot to change shipping to my house so it's back at my apartment waiting to be opened.

Damn I messed up my sleep schedule now.

Normally I'd say this sucks but today is my day off so I got the entire day to drink and play games.  Starting off with a bottle of tank 7 right now,

I can't believe with all the cheese talk yesterday, no one mentioned cheese curds. I could it a whole bag of them right now.

Edit: Way better than that canned crap.

I have also run into a few problems such as the batmobile sinking into an elevator where I had to restart a checkpoint and one of the winch pieces got stuck behind a wall until I had to shake it free, which took a little while. Neither of these are going to make me say the game sucks, but they are unfortunate.
Once I was chasing a car down and went off the road and landed on a deck or something of a building. Just above/next to the road. I couldn't get out of there and just had to wait till the guy I was chasing got far enough away to fail the mission. You would think with all his gadgets he could find a way off a porch back to the road. I am I guess a bit short of half way through the main story and really enjoy the combat/detective/exploring that is like the previous games. I get through the driving stuff but really can't wait till those parts are over to get back to the staples of the game. Overall I am really enjoying the game though.

Basically a sum of my thoughts too.

The battle mode aint terrible, but the driving is horrible. I only use the car if I have to, like when going to GCPD, otherwise I glide around everywhere.

That grapple glide boost deal is pretty fun to use.

wren,

you'll be happy to know that the retail driveclub save I have works perfectly fine on the ps+ version.  it retained progress in all of the courses I'd done that are locked behind the full version (but of course I can't play them without plunking down cash monies) and the 'purchased' dlc I have all seems to have unlocked and is usable on the free version.

your pal,

whiny mccrypants

batman arkham knight update:

everyone is playing arkham knight and therefore don't give a shit about my updates.  unlike other games like omega quintet where I get a constant barrage of PMs from people asking 'hey buddy when's that next oq update coming?'

Yeah I am certainly doing as little as possible before I leave for lunch around 1130.  And I am not going back to work today so I will probably drink too much.  Just need to stay awake so I can drive to the kids summer dance class and watch her dance.  That will probably put me to sleep though.

Other then Zimm who is really working on Friday?
Unfortunately, I am. Even more unfortunately, the stuff I am working on is for this same customer with the stupid request that I am sure they won't listen to me about.

It is employee appreciation week though, so I am sure the lunch they are providing will be from the shittiest pizza spot nearby. I guess that is supposed to be able to make me forget all the stupid shit that gets done here.

How is OQ?
it continues to be simultaneously terrible and great. the battle system can be incredibly satisfying and it's fairly deep (but it's not overwhelming and they give you some shortcuts so you don't have to spend 20 minutes planning out a turn). the upgrade/equipment system is decent too with its gigantic upgrade map for each character and weapon affinity. the story, graphics and characters are all things that make me want to start a fire and burn everything good in my life. there's also an unfortunate and surprising lack of jp idol pop genre music in the game. I always secretly liked those goofy songs whenever they popped up in dance dance revolution or whatever.

I'll be. One guy I backup is on vacation so I've been handling his stuff while another company I support had some turnover and I get requests from 10 people there instead of the 1 I was dealing with before.

um, yeah but isnt that what he says about all the dumb games he plays and pharms for trophies?

#Mildhatesgames
you'll be seeing less trophy stupidity from me in the future. I'm not giving it up entirely, but I'm going to start valuing my time a bit more than I have been. I've even picked a handful of low hanging fruit trophies to get from the ps3 fighting games I have and then I'm deleting them all. MADNESS

So worked on some more AR challenges this morning.  Tried a predator one that was straight forward, take down 10 guys in 1:15.  What sucks is the key is the fear multi take downs.  I got it once and was only one away from getting another person and I died.  Since then I can never get the multi fear take downs to go, it should be straight forward in the sense that when I do a take down, near by enemies should qualify for it, but they never do, am I missing something?  Even when I sneak behind a group, it doesn't always register and only gives me the single take down button.  I love the multi take downs, but I wish they worked the way you wanted.

Also been getting a lot of messages on how I got the brutality trophy.  Honestly I just played through and tried using different take downs and it popped.

Do you have to "build up" the ability to use the Multi-Fear Takedowns? I noticed a glowing "FEAR" in the upper-left corner but didn't pay attention to whether that was always there when starting a Predator scenario.

You know, I wondered what that was for... Maybe that's the key. I have a 5 person ability, if I can get it to activate the 1:15 wouldn't be so bad. There are 4 easy take downs at the beginning, key is just figuring out how to increase fear

So am I the only one not stalking PST.org for Batman trophy tips? Just gonna play through and see what I get, then I'll deal with clean up stuff after the fact.

Nope, I'll likely do the same. Since you can replay specific AR challenges whenever you want, none of the trophies should be missable.

there really is no need except for maybe 4 trophies that require something very specific (combat trophies) It's crazy how many trophies pop just from a few minutes of playing. I'm getting nearly 5 a day playing an hour to two hours.

Yeah I am just playing through it for fun. I might mop up some of the easier trophies when done. Have almost a month to trade it to GS for $40. Probably not going to spend too much effort on any trophies that require driving though.

I didn't realize it was even on PS3. The port being done by Gameloft makes me a bit leery. Trophy list looks challenging. Post how you like it.
I don't remember playing the original, but it seems to run fine. Near as I can figure the only thing they fuck ed up pretty badly so far is the Evil the Cat, phase 2 boss fight. He lunges at you and I was having so much trouble with it because if he came from up above I could never seem him before it was too late. In the original the cave had a reddish rock wall background (i looked up the boss fight for tips on youtube) so you can more easily see his black shape and white eyes when he lunges at you. In the HD remake, its just a black background so the only thing you can see coming is his eyes, which doesn't always indicate from which direction he is jumping. Finally I passed it by waiting a few seconds and then wildly fired into the air up-left diagonal, up, and up-right diagonal. When he jumps from the side there is plenty of time to see him for some reason.

Then there are other things which are probably just a legacy of the original design like when you enter "Heck" and it isn't always clear what walls will damage you since the spikes are pretty subtle or how finicky the whip is to grapple and swing.

One feature I do like that I don't know if it was in the original is chapter select so if you run out of continues and get game over you don't have to play the early part of the game over again, you can just jump back in at the start of the current level. Original difficulty (the highest difficulty) is legit hard so I am thankful for that feature.

The trophy list is indeed weird for an HD remake. Collecting X orbs and atoms without turning the game off, I don't know why they couldn't just keep a cumulative total and save it. 2 online multiplayer trophies (there were zero people playing yesterday evening) that require you beating each of the 12 coop levels and coming in first in every level. No trophy for just beating the game, only trophies for beating it on the hardest difficulty in one sitting with one life or under 50 minutes. So unless I decide to boost the multiplayer challenges with my other PS3 I'm probably done with collecting trophies for the game and will move on once I beat it.

the combat challenges are way easier if you did some of them in the other games.  Same strategy of jumping, hit, jumping, hit, combo to build the multiplier and then ground take downs at the end.   wish there were more of them, I'm not loving the batmobile challenges.  The racing ones are simple, the combat ones are proving too hard.

Finally made some decent progress into AK last night. And then I got scared shitless while hunting down one of the serial killer cases.

Was grappling over a ledge to get closer to the "someone got serial killed here" music, when out of nowhere a giant manbat? (I'm assuming its this games take on manbats) pops up out of nowhere and screams at you from over the ledge.
I actually yelped, dropped my controller, and unceremoniously almost knocked over my chair. Definitely had my golds on too, so no one knows why I was screaming, only that it was hilarious. Now I remember why I never finished RE4

That reminds me of this:

I was playing Outlast the other night via remote play from my bed. Had the headphones plugged in and was totally immersed when the GF woke up and started shaking me with a look of pure terror. She said that someone was in the house and they were screaming downstairs. Guess I forgot to turn off the stereo downstairs so the game sounds were playing through the system. Whoopsy.

Please join us at 12:00PM today for a pizza luncheon in celebration of Employee Appreciation Week.
Looked up the place on yelp, 3 star. Hoping my friend doesn't have plans for lunch yet.
