Finished the normal run of Yakuza: Dead Souls in 12h03m at 19% completion. Wish they'd played Kiryu up a bit more since you don't play him until part 4. Everybody was in awe of him but he didn't do much all that amazing in the game itself. It felt like he didn't live up to his legend. The end story villain was lame, though finishing it on the hardest difficulty has a different ending that I don't know anything about.

A number of the boss fights were more tedious than challenging, though since I was rushing through the story my weapons weren't very upgraded. It may be that spending more time with that stuff makes the bosses feel more balanced.

Very end scene before the credits with the one character was great. I wondered how that would turn out. The after-credits scene was a perfect finish even though I figured out what was happening as soon as it started.

Good game despite the somewhat poor camera controls (which the head aim skill helps a lot with once you get it leveled up.) When I do the next run I'll be doing a lot more of the side stuff and I think that'll make it a lot more interesting. Playing Dead Souls has gotten me really interested in the main series titles. I'll probably play Yakuza 3 here within the next couple of months because of that.

You are right that south of I-4 definitely isn't except for a few pockets. Those people don't even consider where I grew up part of the state because it is the real south.

If you are calling that jiffy mix sweet tasting baked cornbread then you are doing it wrong to start with even without the milk. Fried cornmeal cornbread or GTFO.
I'm talking granny's cornbread in a cast-iron skillet; flour, cornmeal, buttermilk and just a little sugar. Give me that, some bacon and milk, and I'm in heaven.

Definitely not that Jiffy Mix crap that tastes like it's got a cup of sugar in it.

Well I'm still awake, thanks to a long Flame Over run. Was able to beat the game at least. One mission got glitched on me or something but I completed all the other ones.

My axe broke in the very last level with only one door left to break down. There were no axes in the level but mercifully there wasn't any fire behind the door. Thank god!

Pancakes, how did you get the Beat in less than an hour and Beat with no items trophies? Any tips?

did u try dousing the fire really fast?

The first few levels are such a drag in New N' Tasty, so many secret rooms to jump into to solve and save the mukodons that it just grinds the pacing down so slow for progression. The first two (of 15) levels have 6 secret rooms each (over half of all the secret rooms in the game) and contain nearly 40% of the mukodons of the entire game. After the first two levels there are several levels light on rescuing and these have been much more enjoyable.

Also the trophy for entering all the secret rooms is glitchy, so if you don't find them all in your initial playthrough, it doesn't work to find the rest via chapter select. Then I don't know if it is just a problem with the PS3 port, or if it was in the PS4 version too, but it keeps freezing on loading screens (3 times so far) to the point that I have to hold down the power button and reset the system to get out of it.
I found the secret rooms via chapter select.

found all the riddle trophies

You "found" them? No, you used a guide to tell you exactly where they all were and how to solve the puzzles on each one. At least be honest about it.

Just play the last area. You don't have to play all four area for it to count.

I think I am done with Batman.  There might be another easy trophy or two I will look up tonight but I looked up most last night and there is just too much work to do.

Can someone tell me if the green riddler guys disappear once you have all the clues?
They seemed to disappear for me. I had everything revealed on one of the islands and never ran into another green guy on that island again.
I've run into a few informants who just break out of Batman's grasp when I try to interrogate them, though I haven't revealed everything on any island yet; maybe that means there aren't any things to reveal in that specific area of the island?

No, that means you have to counter them to get them to talk.

I guess I can figure out what to play in July today and possibly tomorrow.  I will be especially bored tomorrow as the stock market is closed but the bank is open. So I am working but we wont have shit to do.  Its so stupid to have the Federal Reserve and banks open but the stock market is closed.  D U M B.

Really? They say something like "Screw you" and appear to break out of Batman's grasp without any counter indicators, but maybe I just never noticed because the camera tends to be really close-up in those instances. I should have realized it was weird that they could so easily shrug it off.

Yep, they have counter icons over their heads when they're saying screw you. Just hit triangle and you'll smack them and then they'll give up the info.

that batman fatigue is real. all of the side missions could've been cut in half or more.

I didn't need to find and scan 6 victims at the skin/muscle/bone layer.

I didn't need to blow up 15 bombs + 15 checkpoints + 15 towers (or whatever) just to participate in a ctrlcthenctrlv of another boss fight

I didn't need to do the same penguin arms cache thing over and over and over

I didn't mind the bank robberies, but 3 would've been ample.

I didn't need to find so many freaking firefighters - it's not enhancing the story overall or just their arc by getting tiny little pieces like that

I don't need to find/solve almost 300 riddler trophies/puzzles in addition to the 10 trials needed to free catwoman. it seems like at least half of that 300 is puzzle oriented too.

The firefly and manbat ones could've also been decreased. I can't even remember the others at this point.

I had to stay up and work last night so I played side missions and AR challenges off and on in between things and have everything done but the firemen, 22 stars, a bajillion riddler trophies, and of course I need to finish the goddamn story which I keep forgetting to do.

Mechanics-wise and visually, this is my favorite batman game hands down. I even like the stupid batmobile (although it is WAY overused). But jesus they just crammed too much crap in to this game. I'm actually looking forward to ng+ now where I won't have any reason to do anything but the story.

I agree that this is probably the best Batman game as far as scope and detail but AA will always be the best to me since it was the first and there hasnt been anything else like it before or since.  Except for the other Arkham games.

yeah, as a point of reference I've played through AA I think 4 times - played the original once and the goty release twice on 360 and then just platted the ps3 version a couple months back (plus all of the challenges and riddles of course!). that should be the very definition of batman fatigue but I enjoyed every play through all the way to the delightfully goofy ending. it's so good! arkham knight is just yet another example of a developer not understanding that quantity/size != better.

Yeah, they could easily have reduced some of the side missions by half and give us some better boss fights instead.

Last night I drank a beer that had lemongrass in it.  Then I drank a beer that had hibiscus in it.  While at a brewery taproom.

Did I go full hipster?

I saw that this morning on Untappd. Then I saw Ft Myers chick had a St Bernardus ABT 12 at 6 am. Or she checked in then. Either way, I liked it.

I don't know what it is about me, but I just don't get fatigue when playing games like these. I didn't get bored walking around to random discovery points in Witcher 3 or searching for Riddler stuff / doing side missions last night in AK.

you probably had a lobotomy when you were younger

Does anyone have thoughts/impressions/reviews on Terraria? I noticed that Best Buy carries the Vita version (which is confirmed to be a physical cart, not a code), and it looks like the kind of game that would work better or be more fun on-the-go.
