anyone actually enjoy traveling? i mean i like getting to the destination, but the actual act of traveling makes me anxious.
it doesn't make me super anxious, but I do loathe it (specifically airline travel). it sucks because I love going different places - if I had the money I'd pack up my clan and wander the earth until we ran out. but god damn the act of getting on an airplane in order to arrive at a remote destination is literally cancer. it's astounding how little they've done to make it better but I suppose they're the only game in town so why bother.

driving/road trips are marginally better, but I have trouble staying awake and of course it takes a trillion times longer.

Got an email about a big Amazon sale on 7/15. Prime Day, they're calling it. And they're saying it's bigger than Black Friday. You need to be a Prime member to get in on the deals.
I wonder if Amazon is going to start offering decent discounts on new game preorders for Prime members. I think it was posted here but if not elsewhere on CAG that Madden 16 was $15 off for XBox One (and I think PS4) but you didn't see the price till you went to check out.

Wonder if I should buy some Amazon GCs with my Game Stop credit?

I like traveling when it involves driving with friends. You can make a few pit stops and check out some awesome local food places along the way.

Other than that not really.

Its about the journey guys, not the destination.

Isn't the barcode the same week in and week out. Couldn't someone just print up the QR code and leave it in their wallet or maybe even make a sticker of it and stick it the back of the Redcard? I wonder if cashiers would have an issue with it?
Yes you can do that. Our desktop website even has a print barcode option for peeps with no smartphone.

But it's not a QR code

Yeah not a big fan of traveling any more either.  Dealing with the airlines and airports just isn't a whole lot of fun.  Getting to the airport several hours early just so you can be sure to get through security in time.  Fighting for overhead space so you don't have to check your carry on bag and hope they don't lose it.  Delays potentially causing you to miss a connecting flight etc.

I had two trips to Florida for work (with little time to site see) earlier this year and probably one to Chicago later this summer / early fall.  Not looking forward to it at all.  I am not afraid to fly just find it not a whole lot of fun.

unfortunately, until Amazon brings back the preorder credits I'm still getting 95% of my games through BB. Outside of some backup CE orders the only New releases I have through Amazon this year were Mario Party 10 and Kingdom Hearts 3.

Ha. I actually had put bar code originally but then thought it was a QR code and changed it. Guess I could have looked to see.

I think it's a little funny that the ps+ version of driveclub finally dropped and I haven't seen anyone in this thread play it yet.  I thought there was supposed to be an atomic bomb sized explosion of online activity when it was released!

Why does it matter, I preordered Madden from Best Buy for $48.99 and I am getting a $10 certificate. No one else is even coming close.

Stopping by to say hello, I have to work at work again this week so not sure how much I'll be able to post. I'm sure things will carry on well enough without me. Lunch talk, Women's soccer, and Roof pricing. You know the important stuff.

Anyway, got in a bit more Infamous Second Son. I guess I don't have much more to say other than that I really really like the game. Might be my 2nd platinum. :)

Is it Friday yet?

I know exactly what you mean. Since I am likely going to Philadelphia tomorrow to hang out with Comcast, I am already getting anxious about making sure I have all the shit I need and dealing with flying.

I love road trips with friends. Traveling for work usually sucks. Going to Athens Greece at my old job was kind of cool, but I was still anxious during all the preparation for it.

I'm seriously starting to wonder about the well being of Nintendo executives in regards to their mental health.

If this is true I guess they really just don't give 2 shits about 3rd parties. The only thing that really bothers me about that is won't this just lead to another Wii U? I guess the system could be some sort of hybrid console\handheld like has been rumored but even the 3DS isn't drawing in the 3rd parties like the DS did so it just seems like a slippery slope.

All people want at the end of the day is games, not old games, not watered down ports, just games games games. Sure we'll get Nintendo games, but what about you know other games?

Hope everyone had an awesome weekend!

Spent mine hanging out on a boat/beach with a well stocked cooler. Watching the fireworks along the shoreline from about a mile out was badass 10/10 would recommend. Too hazy/misty to see Chicago tho. There were some dudes in the smaller planes just making circles over the lake/shoreline to see all the fireworks too, was kinda cool.

Biking to/from the pier was a mixed bag tho, great because no traffic/parking worries. Stupid as fuck because afterwards everyone else is drunk and in a car and you're half drunk and on a bike. Almost got run over passing the liquor store lot by some dumbass and then almost blown up by more dumbasses with fireworks in the middle of the street.

Come home with a car full of cheap beer too, stuff was way cheaper up north so we stocked up. Got a growler and a bunch of other stuff from Shoreline brewery. I think the growler is the Exponential american ipa? Not bad, but not my favorite. Its pretty hoppy from start to finish tho so idk how many people here would like it anyway lol.

I think for many who weren't into driving games were curious to see what was about 2 years ago when there wasn't a whole lot on PS4. Now almost 2 years in there is plenty to play.

Not everyone uses BB. Does BB offer game day delivery if you aren't Elite or Elite Plus? Might factor in for some. I had Elite last two years but might not have it next. I usually pick games up in store but not everyone does. I did have Batman delivered and it was nice not having to run to BB at lunch.

Not all games get $10 pre order cert.

BB might be out of business soon (not really).

I have a $100+ bucks in Game Stop credit. Buying $100 in Amazon GCs and being able to get new games for $45 that BB isn't offering $10 back on (like probably Uncharted 4) might be worth it to me. Even losing out on the points.

Guess we will have to wait and see what Amazon does if anything.

Unless you only have the option to play Oddworld: New N tasty on the PS3, I wouldn't recommend it. In the 2 playthroughs I've done so far, I've had at least 20 game freezes that required restarting the system via holding down the power button. That "perfect chapter 2" trophy also glitched out on me. I did 2 different perfect runs on a fresh save slot and it wouldn't pop. Finally I loaded up another save slot that I had already collected 100% of the Mudokons in the level (which isn't listed as a trophy requirement), beat it again, and that finally caused it to pop. So I'm not sure whether the save slot was bad or if it won't pop with 0% of Mudokons saved.

Which is a shame, because once you get past the initial difficulty spike and length of the first two levels, it gets much more enjoyable, but all the technical glitches detract from the experience.

I've just gotten in a position at work in which I'll be doing more traveling. So far, it's been road trips with the farthest being to Orlando. We could have flown, but we stopped to visit some customers on the way.

In October, I'll fly to Dallas for a convention; I've only flown a handful of times, and only once since 9/11. I grew up going on road trips. That used to be a long as 1000 mile trek from SC to Wisconsin a few times a year.

Work road trips have been fun so far. Especially when we visit customers and get to tour their facilities. Back in February, we went to Savannah and toured the Gulstream facilities. I got to see their R&D lab and then we toured the hanger where they assemble the G650s; damn those are some nice jets.

Wow. Nx isn't due out for what, another 1-2 years? At that point the PS4 will be 3-4 years old. To put it out halfway through the current gen cycle and still not be competitive with that gen's hardware...they're crazy.

How's New Little King Story?
Pretty fun. A lot different than what I expected. But I may have had another game in mind forming my expectations.

I can definitely see the Pikmin comparisons that I've seen people make. I don't know if I'm playing the game right but I've had fun going out and killing monsters. Map could be a little better in helping you know where to go next. Also, equipping all your peeps is kinda confusing and tedious and I'm not quite sure if I completely know how to do that yet.

But I want to keep playing to see what else I can find and do, so that's a good sign.

I'm surprised any of you are surprised that it will once again be under-powered.  Nintendo consoles are for a niche market now (this coming from someone who owns a WiiU).  Even when they had the fad stage of the Wii, third party games did not sell very well.  Having a more powerful console to try and compete with the big two would be foolish.  Like always, they will come out with a device that is profitable from the start because it uses older technology.  Why would they risk losing money on a console that will likely not sell all that well unless they happen to catch lightning in a bottle like they did with the Wii?

Sony and MS compete to see who can be on top.  Nintendo execs just want to continue to make money.

Exactly. And just like previous Nintendo consoles I will wait for a decent price drop before picking one up. Although I guess I can't count the Wii U for that since I got it as a birthday gift.

For those with half price books in the area, I got an email saying it's coupon week this week. Wed-sun, building up to 50% off on Sunday!

I don't mind travelling by myself (it only happens maybe once every 5 years). The chance to have peace and quiet, read a book on a plane, listen to music, explore things at my leisure is wonderfull.

The last time with all three kids wasn't the total nightmare I imagined it to be, and maybe when they're a little bit older it won't be quite so hair-pulling.

With the technology that we have now it is much easier. Most planes have movies or stuff for kids, not to mention Ipads etc. It makes it much easier.

It just doesn't make sense. Wii U was a failure, maybe they made some money but any company would be foolish if all they wanted was to sell Wii U numbers (niche market). I'm sure any right thinking executive wants to see Wii numbers again. They always say they have "learned" things from their mistakes but it's a can of bullshit. 3rd party games bring more sales to your console, PS4 is a great indication of that.

The talk of a possible hybrid\home console might not make a whole lot of sense either. I mean shit it's cool for sure and would give Nintendo a strong focus if it's one platform but at $300 or up you might be knocking out that 3DS kid crowd (buy it since it's cheap).

They talk revolution but the Wii fell flat on it's face after Wii Sports and the "new cool" factor wore off. You were left with an underpowered non-HD system that got a ton of shovelware.

The Wii U is HD but again under-powered and the Gamepad is an underpowered tablet that no one really gives a shit about because they did little to prove it was needed. Then you have Miyamoto sticking up for Starfox's controls when most people who tried it said it's shit. They talked simplification and the Wii U as a console and a controller and all the different options is a cluster fuck. Wii remote plus, nunchuck, pro controller, do dad, gamepad, la la fuck all this shit.

Why not just make a powerful home console (even at the level of a PS4) so you start on even ground? Then let the 1st party games speak for themselves.

Nintendo hasn't "learned" anything. I bought a Wii U on the cheap so it doesn't bother me as I knew what I was getting but how long until there is a serious clearing of the old guard at Nintendo? The repeating scenario for them is getting old.

Of course they dont want to sell a small number of products, but their primary focus is to keep the business healthy by making a profit.  That is the main goal of most businesses.  Sony (at least was) and MS are different beasts.  They could have a loss leader for name recognition.  Nintendo has the name recognition but only has their gaming business to make a profit.  They can not afford to have an expensive device that they ship money out with every sale like those guys.

Even with the pitiful Wii U sales, I bet they have made more in profit from the console business this time around than Sony or MS so far.  Will they in the long run? No.  If they tried to compete with those guys, they wouldn't make anything but would in fact lose a ton.

The quickest way for Nintendo to die is to try and compete with Sony and MS unless they have another idea that could become a fad like the Wii.

lol.... what are you talking about??? I don't know anything bout no pedophile grin in Deadly Premonition... maybe you're playing it wrong lol

I just watched the opening again and I don't see any grin or laugh from gramps at all... just an innocent stroll through the woods with his grandchildren. He kind of turns and looks over his shoulder after he tells them to be careful because it's dangerous... not sure how you're reading anything from that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_05U975Ft5U
Ah Topside. I knew you were just fuck ing with me and now I know its a fact. I watched it again and that old man defiantly follows the kids into the woods just after turning to look over his should and as he turns towards the kids he chuckles very sinisterly. Is that a word? lol And it fades to black/credits as the chuckle fades. That is definiantly foreshadowing of sinister happenings. The fact the game aesthetics and mechanics would have been terrible for a Sega CD game doesnt help it.

But I am getting ahead of myself of course. I will finish the story unless I get a game breaking bug or something and give my final analysis then. With a link/hoops.

Traveling is exciting if you focus on the destination.  Shit will happen but you should plan enough time in between expected and actual arrival and you will be fine.  Of course I am refering to traveling for vacation or fun.  If your traveling for a funeral or work it sucks.  Although I am excited to go to NYC for the first time so sometimes work travel can be alright.

Also drinking heavily as long as you arent driving always helps.

I agree with the drinking, but in moderation :0

We had to go on a boat this weekend for our trip

I get really, really sea sick and it was recommended to me that I should drink before hand like a beer or something and it would help.

So on our return trip I did just that and barely got seasick :D

Now if only the alcohol would have helped my sunburn #everylottlefuckingthinghurtsmenow

Nintendo has plenty of money in the bank to play with. I get that they want to make a profit. But I'm guessing a PS4 level system in another year or two (even leaving manufacturing time) when the NX launches the parts will be cheaper and they could still make a profit selling at $350. The only thing that makes sense is if they are trying to hit some magic price point of $199 out of the gate so they can make sure it's the every man, woman, and child console or something like we've seen happen with cheap laptops and tablets.

I don't even see making a PS4 level system as competing, I just see it as a way to get a lot more software on the console which at the end of the day, is what it's all about....GAMES. The Wii as well as it sold, the attach rate was shit.

Another part of a healthy business is understanding your consumer base but Nintendo is really good at ignoring just about everything anyone asks for.

They can chase the fad all they want but unless they truly deliver it's leading them on a path to nowhere.

Not saying they need to win in a specs war with MS or Sony. However wouldn't it have made sense to have a more or less on par system without a seemingly gimmicky controller? I will admit I have never used the Game pad but it doesn't look like it would be fun to use. Most gamers didn't want the Kinect and it's $100 premium.

I was at my friends house for the 4th and saw a PS3 knock off controller (I think). One his kids dropped it and the batteries came out. I ask my friend what system they had and said a PS2. I assume it was a PS3 though. 2 years ago the same house for the forth of July I was helping another kid that was there was playing some Looney Toons game on the Wii. He couldn't get past some part so I helped him get past it. The graphics were horrible but the kid was having a blast. They had a couple dozen Wii games in a bin.

So in 2 years they bought a new console and it wasn't a Wii U. His kids are 8 and 6 or so. Perfect age for Nintendo games IMO.

I thought it was 'sad' when I was at Target a few weeks after the PS4 release in 2013 trying find 3 games I wanted (buy 2 get 1 free promo) and someone was restocking the Nintendo case. I got the impression they worked for Nintendo (they weren't dressed in Red). She was like you don't want a PS4. You want a Wii U. No I don't not for $350 (price at the time).

If they are losing kids to Sony and MS who is going to buy their products when they get older? Sure die hard Nintendo fans who have to play their IP will buy the next Nintendo console but they need to create new fans when the are young.

Does the "Harley Quinn's Revenge" add-on for Arkham City GotY Edition require you to finish the main game, or can you access it from the main menu? I forgot to look into that myself before AK's release.

I personally think they'll be okay.

Hear me out.

I honestly can't think of a system that has games that are age appropriate and enjoyable by both kids and adults other than a Nintendo console because of their platformers. Don't get me wrong, I love my Sony, but I don't think I would let my kid play any of the games I have for that system until she was close to 12/13. I don't think they're appropriate for a younger generation (with the exception of a few I can think of). I think Nintendo does a good job of getting kids into gaming and that nostalgia and memory stays with them and they pass it on to their children. I still love my Nintendo, and that's the only console I will buy their games at full price. I think there is a lot of people out there like me too.

I wouldn't say I'm fanboy/girl status, but I will support a company that I like what they're doing and all that

I bought Harley Quinn's stand alone DLC for $2 or whatever was on sale for a few months back. I downloaded and installed Batman Arkham City (free with PS+) and just played the DLC. I don't recall which menu it was off of but I didn't play the main game at all. I had played it on 360 and wasn't interested in playing it again.

Thanks. Looks like I'm doing some trophy cleanup after AK.
