The game is 8 years old and I was still careful not to spoil anything important. The most anybody could walk away with was "Oh, some dude named Fontaine is the bad guy" which means nothing to someone who hasn't played the game anyway.

I mean, I get spoilers, and Arkham Knight is a good example of a game that should still be spoilered, but right now we're talking about something so old that it exceeds the statute of limitations for most felonies.

Am I supposed to spoil that
Vader is Luke's father,
too?
But now if someone plays Bioshock and first hears the name Fontaine after reading your spoilers, they'll know he's the main villain and expect his reveal rather than think "Huh, that guy sounds important" and thinking little of it until his unexpected reveal later on.

Or you could just wait a few months and they'll all eventually go Plus. Hasn't that been the case 100% of the time with past "buy X new releases and get Y" promotions?

Do you remember random character name drops for very long? People mention names from games all the time in here; if I haven't played the game I forget them in no time simply from lacking a frame of reference to make the name significant enough to remember. Even if somebody does remember the name, the name reveals nothing of how the character comes in or how they become the villain.
How Fontaine comes in is far, far more important anyway, I think you'll agree.

Anyway...I think it's ridiculous for people to get upset about the name of a villain from an 8-year-old game when we're having unspoilered posts revealing secret identities from a game 3 weeks old. :shame:

Jesus.

What I walked away with was that Fontaine is the main bad guy and that you kill him in the end. I did start the game twice and kept getting distracted away from it, but aren't there 2 dudes talking to you through a radio? Atlas and Ryan? And isn't the whole thing a mystery that you don't know who to trust and what is going on and what their agendas are? So I guess Fontaine is Atlas and now I'll know that he is bad and he's just trying to control me over the radio to further whatever his evil plan is.

Halfway home through mediation. Not getting 50/50 time share but close at 44%. Now comes the hard part. Money.

I seriously wonder why alternate costumes have been pushed so much for the last two Arkhams--do they really think we'll be switching between them that frequently? You look at Batman's backside most of the time anyway, so unless you have story missions left, you won't really get a good look at the outfits in-game.

It's probably because it doesn't cost as much time or money to make those compared to actual gameplay content, but still. fuck .

Is there old Batman/Robin TV show skins for AK? That's the only ones I'd be interested in if I had the game. Plus some Bat Shark Repellent.

Probably nothing for me. Only thing on that list is maybe a Fire Stick. But I have 3 Chromecasts and a Roku 3 already.
If the Kindle with $30 off is the Paperwhite 3 I'll probably get one. Right now I'm using a Kindle 3 (the last one with a keyboard) and it's much slower and uglier than the newer iterations, plus does not have the backlit screen. According to the link that stuff is going to be given in Lightning Deals, though. :headache:

The point is that you just sprang a big part of a story driven game out of the blue. People will remember that in a game like that. Batman has been talked about non-stop since it came out, so for people like me that aren't playing it, I know that if I see Batman mentioned to tread lightly. But no one is talking about Bioshock and you bust out the final boss's name and some ending details. Just have some consideration. When in doubt spoil that shit. Not that hard there Sparkles.

Looks like you have to go back to 2012 to break the streak

2012

Expendables 2

Sound Shapes

Counter Strike GO

Papo Y Yo - March 2015

2011

Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online

The Baconing

Bloodrayne Betrayal - Aug 2012

Renegade Ops  July 2012

Payday - Oct 2012

My wife has the kindle before the paper white and said it is fine. Otherwise I would consider it.

I dunno, I kinda take Therm's side on this one. Unless someone in the thread really mentions they're playing through an older game like Bioshock I think it's fair game to mention spoilers here. I haven't played through games like God of War or anything but I wouldn't get bothered if someone here mentions spoilers for it because it's been out so long.

Rather than more bullshit in the same universe it would have been fun if one of the Arkham Knight DLC was a standalone side-scrolling brawler starring Adam West batman. Old-style graphics, lots of wacky visual sound effects and comedy, etc..

I brought this up months ago and Tyler was one of the few who responded and basically said just because it is an older game doesn't mean everyone has played it. I think several people liked his post (as did I).

I played some of Bioshock 1 but didn't get too far. I have no idea what you guys are talking about with that game.

I don't think God of War is a good comparison here. That game is all about the action. I've played all of them except Ascension and I still have no idea what the hell was going on with the story. Kratos was mad. Kill all the gods. That's all I got. Bioshock is branded as a story first game with a huge mystery and a huge twist.

Maybe not, but I was trying to think of major PS3 titles I haven't played yet. My point is that when a game, movie, TV show, etc has been out this long I think it's kinda silly to have to spoiler it because someone in a thread may not have seen it yet. It's courteous of course, but not required.

rule of thumb for me is one year, if someone spoils something for me a year after release, I'm the only one to blame

I just feel its common curtesy to not spoil the name of a final boss, regardless how old the game is. Other shit you can maybe discuss, but its really not that hard to spoiler tag one name.

They'll probably have 10 available.

I expect the righteous indignation of CAG and the internet in general to be off the charts tomorrow.
You're right. And the Vig's of the world will find out they can somehow sell them somewhere else for 40 cents profit so they'll all snatch them up instead of letting people who actually want them get them.

You fucking douche. I had no idea there were gods in God of War. Might as well put that one in the never play pile.
