Unsurprisingly I dont really care for Pink Floyd either.  There songs just drone on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on...............................................................and on.  I would need to be heavily medicated, drunk and stoned to sit through the wall.

I'm not that big on music as most people know, I've only listened to three Pink Floyd Albums. The Wall is probably my least favorite of the three, it's kinda weird. Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here are the other two I've listened to, FWIW.

This is probably a prime example of long droning songs like you say, but damn if I'm not completely enthralled the entire time by the best rendition of the best guitar solo of all the times.

And the part at around 8:01.....goosebumps every damn time.

Listen to Animals. And Meddle.

Those are the two closet in era to the ones you have heard.

Just add Animals to your listening, and you've covered that era of Floyd

I was never a huge Beatles fan myself. My wife is though. Saw him twice at Citifield in 09 (I think). He put on an amazing show both times. I think he needs to consider taking a few of his songs down an octive or two though. He just can't hit some of those highs anymore. Which is understandable at his age. Probably best concert I didn't care about going to.

While I think The Wall has sold more overall, Dark Side has had more staying power long term. I think it only recently fell out of the Billboard top 200 which is insane.

I can understand Dark Side and Wish You Were Here being the albums that most people would gravitate towards. In fact, those albums probably have my favorite songs from Floyd. At the same time, The Wall is an overall masterpiece to me.

Vig and I bought it. But just to flip it. I got the $69 version on sale at BB. Guy at work is playing the base version so I gave him the code.

I did have a "big daddy" 32 ounce Blue Moon at Winghouse for lunch.  I was closing my eyes back at my desk so I had to pop a hydro.  So I am 2/3rds of the way there already!

My buddies that smoke are out of town this weekend though...sad face.

Tyler really does hate music. One time he told me "the next time those stupid music loving fuck faces start talking about the stupid dickbag bands they love, I'm banning them all from the thread."

And then he realized he had no authority or power to do that.

Got my parents a framed vinyl of the wall for their anniversary this month. They met at a the wall party back in the day. More than vaguely tempted to go kidnap the vinyls themselves and just leave the art in the frame.... In the mean time tho, I've got it running on spotify till I can escape work.

If Tyler (or anyone) want's some lesser known Floyd to listen to besides the big guns, I would recommend:

  • Obscured by Clouds
Actually recorded as a soundtrack to some weird french film.  Got instrumentals with the highlights being "Free Four" and "Wot's...Uh the Deal".

[*]Atom Heart Mother
  • Opens with their longest studio song, has three cool regular songs in the middle, then goes into a trippy soundscape song.  The CD I bought even came with a recipe for some weird wedding dish that included about 5 different animals stuffed inside each other!

I think we have a winner for the coolest parents award right here.

Totally was expecting a shout out to "Careful with That Axe, Eugene" when I started reading that.
In college once my girlfriend and her cousins we over and we all fell asleep watching TV in the living room. My roommate came home at like 2am and saw us all asleep, so the put Careful with That Axe, Eugene on his giant loud stereo and cranked that shit. We all about hit the ceiling jumping out of our chairs. Then we all called him an asshole.

The only floyd albums I don't have are:
More
Ummagumma
The Final Cut

So, crazily I know nothing about these albums, so I would like to know if they are worth finding

metal gear rising is $9

resonance of fate is $5

bulletstorm is $4

Wish Borderlands was a bit cheaper but it is two games and I love BL2. Probably kick off the download now.

More was another soundtrack to obscure movie album. A few good songs like Cymbaline and Nile Song, which is actually a really heavy song, comparable to Helter Skelter coming out of the Beatles. I'm surprised so one has covered it nowadays.

Ummagumma is a double album. One CD is live shit, the other CD is a four part thing where every band member did their own thing for a few songs. Lots of weird shit in the Nick Mason and Richard Wright sections. Some decent stuff there, but nothing memorable besides Waters' "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict." (best song title ever).

Final Cut is known as a kinda/sorta sequel/followup to The Wall. It's basically a Waters solo album though, as I don't think anyone else contributed to it. Roger's last album with the band. Some good ones on there too, with Not Now John being my favorite.

Scary isnt it?

Dont care about the rest. What went on while you all were "sleeping"? Cousins were girls too right?
Nothing went on, but they were girls. Twin girls. But not identical twins. I did smack their asses a lot though. And played strip poker with all of them together a different night. Always fun to bring that up again at family functions.

just a friendly reminder that there is an elusive and mostly unobtainable trophy in lumines vita.  eu got the 1.03 patch which makes it kind of work but na did not.

Probably a holdover from last gen Bethesda games being so buggy on PS3.

resonance of fate is $5
Guess I'll finally get this since I already have enough in my PSN wallet. Probably shouldn't since I need to go back and finish some other last gen RPGs but oh well, nothing new to play until MGS in September.

vig any good gamestop to best buy movers?
Did you trade in any of the few that are part of the 4-for-$20 promo? Specifically:

:ps3: Dynasty Warriors 7

:ps3: / :360: Falling Skies

:ps3: Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution

:360: Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2

Those all fetch $7 base, so you'll make a slight profit.

So Vig, when are you going to actually spend your hoard?   How much will be enough to where you will think "I have enough to last the rest of my life"?
