Do they really need to do another Kickstarter? The first one did really well on its Kickstarter and the game was obviously a success post release. I feel like some of these companies are just doing these Kickstarters because they can.

Probably a dumb question, but I had Skyrim retail on my steam account and then bought the legendary edition from GMG during the summer sale. Is there anyway for me to gift or trade the plain skyrim?

No.

On the bright side though you'd never get the DLC by itself that cheap so even though it's sort of wasting a Skyrim base game you'd definitely pay more anyway if you just got the DLC.

Thanks, I thought that was the case. I was happy to get all the DLC for that price any way so not a big deal

But, wouldn't it be nice to get an extra copy of Skyrim base-game so you can flip it on The Cesspool for a whole quarter?

You know, there are times when I really don't have all that much to say. Do you know what I do when I encounter one of those periods of time when I don't have anything to contribute? I don't post.

Just something to consider, MysterD.

I suppose it fits a twin goal of free publicity and "We'd rather spend your money than ours". Agreed that some of these "indie" companies with very successful releases could probably bankroll their own development this time around but, hey, why do it if you don't have to?

Well the whole idea is that it helps projects that otherwise most likely wouldn't get made due to lack of funding get off the ground, hence the name Kickstarter.com and not preorderourgamewellinadvance.com

But yeah I see some companies are going to do it now as a regular thing because they can.

There's a bit of a double standard involved because the gaming community adores Larian and lets them slide on this because they're supposedly the underdog serving an underserved niche market but if EA or Ubisoft did this people would call them on their shit.

You guys are just now getting banned from bing rewards? I've had at least 6 accounts banned since last year. But I figured the end was near when they started requiring me to verify my account every single day.

Re: Bing

I've only started getting the account verify thing recently. I stopped using the bot but I imagine I'll still get Playfired anyhow.

Maybe I should start just searching Microsoft, Windows 10, and XBox One.

Kind of the same thing with CDProjekt compared to Ubisoft, when it comes to the Watch Dogs downgrade vs the Witcher 3 downgrade. Witcher 3 isn't all that well optimized, and the other thing is it's not very scalable to a range of systems, just like a lot of Ubisoft's big games.

Crysis was extremely scalable, to the point where you could turn a game with graphics far ahead of anything else in 2007, to a 2003 game. So many games nowadays look barely different whether they're running at max or minimum settings, unless inspected closely.

IMHO, W3 looks much better if you're comparing tossing everything @ 1080p w/ Lowest vs. Maximum.

Looks like a totally different game w/ much better Shadows, Lighting, Vegetation, More NPC's, and other things when cranked-up.

W3 isn't going to be PC-optimized. Numerous reasons.

It's part of the new-gen only releases club for consoles - so, spike up PC requirements automatically when it comes here (for higher + new minimums). Most multi-platformed PC + consoles games - especially on simultaneously releases - just aren't optimized. They're working on too many versions at once and/or often console-versions get the most amount of focus anyways. You get a better chance of a PC-optimized game either after a bunch of PC patches behind it or when a company like Rockstar focuses on doing just the PC version & just puts it out way later like they supposedly did w/ GTA5 PC. Me, I can't speak for GTA5 PC personally, don't own it yet...so, I'll let others speak on that, if they want.

There's a free* mystery game up on tremor.

*You need to earn 50 coins today to be able to "buy" it.

EDIT: Yuck, I got Cargo The Quest for Gravity

Any of you other old people remember "Choose your own adventure" books? Choice of Robots is pretty awesome for $3. Not on sale, will be watching for it tho.

There's a demo that covers the first 2 chapters.

*edit*
It is on sale. $5 is the regular price.
I've grabbed a few of the Choice Of games on iOS, didn't know they'd started porting to Steam. They're not bad. I liked Choice Of Broadsides.

Look, clearly you just don't appreciate how much money it takes to actually develop these games, and how evil publishers really are, nobody would ever be able to make a turn-based isometric RPG without billions of the crowdfunding dollars because boooooooooo publishers, also you clearly don't understand the dev process, also stop being so entitled, you're what's wrong with the games industry.

I don't really care if Larian does a kickstarter because I'm not going to contribute and will wait until their game is five dollars or in a bundle

I only have one Bing Rewards account and a 100% legit one that I never used bots or any shady stuff with. It got banned a couple months ago for reason of using a bot. You fuck ing bot hats are getting legit users banned.

On a related subject, how is the first one? A local Wal-Mart has had the first one for $12 on clearance for about a month (the store refuses to lower the price further, argh) and I'm thinking of buying it since it will have the Enhanced Edition added later on.
It's fantastic if you enjoy that style of gameplay.

inb4 they give the first one away for free if you back Divinity OS 2

I loved the first one. I was a Kickstater backer and really like these guys. Great interaction with the backers during development and always looked forward to their updates. I am still making my way through on Pillars of Eternity. I am having a little difficulty with PoE because I don't feel it measures up to Divinity Original Sin.

I'll be backing the second without hesitation.

Regarding Bing - both my gf and I had an issue where we had to go through the phone number thing every time we wanted to redeem a reward.  Then it started telling us both that the home land-line number we had used numerous times in the past was VoIP (it isn't).  We both had to go through a twenty-email-back-and-forth-over-two-weeks process where we were 'manually validated' (whatever the hell that means) and now we supposedly won't ever have to do that again.

Now you all have me worried about getting banned since we typically do the quick-middle-click open all in separate tabs thing HitlerCat does.  I guess I need to start spacing these things out.

Bing sure is making it more and more difficult for me to let them give me money!  :grumpy-old-man-fist-shake:

No clue. Don't have D:OS yet.

I'm gonna have to keep my eyes on Wal-Mart hoping it gets get cheaper (i.e. $10 would be 75% off the Steam-price), if that's the case.

I need a deal on this NAOW. The G.I. Joe gave me a nergasm blast from my childhood.

I do a lot of tab searching and I had bing as my default search. I also have a habit of highlighting and right click searching. I did end up getting unbanned over a month after contacting customer service.

I'm not sure what search habit of mine got me flagged but I don't use bing much now that I got reinstated. When I got reinstated they claimed that I was violating the ToS and I will get banned again if I continue violating the ToS.

"A Search is the act of an individual user manually entering text for the good faith purpose of obtaining Bing search results for such user's own research purposes and does not include any query entered by a bot, macro, or other automated or fraudulent means of any kind ("Search"). Microsoft in its sole discretion determines what constitutes a Search that qualifies for credits."
Oh well their loss, I'm now using Google again for the most part because of this BS. I was using Bing almost exclusively for the last 5+ years.

YES. REALLY.

The old retail version from Ubisoft DOES have disc-DRM - which I do have.

I would've asked if it has a Steam-activation key - but, you know this game ain't even on freakin' Steam.

It's MysterD. I'm surprised he didn't ask how much VRam that 1 cent game needed as well as the DRM.
I'd guess it's the same requirements as what the heck's on the original retail box.

It's not like this is a HD remake or anything.

EDIT:

Old game box says 64MB VRAM card, if you're talking VRAM.

Suggested cards on list: GeForce 3/4/5/FX/6/7800 GT

GF 4 MX series not supported.

Wait, you want me to install it? Wasn't buying it while I was already at Micro Center enough?

{Borderlands Online}

Uh...no.

Pass.

Probably not.

...maybe.
If you ever install Paradise (re-issue), sure - let me know if you can run the game without disc in drive.

Had a feeling you might give Borderlands Online a shot, if it hit USA. :)

So an okay game that got turned into a ridiculous DLC pyramid scheme just got turned into a F2P game that is nothing but an excuse for a DLC pyramid scheme.

How can Randy Pitchford sleep at night? Oh wait, he still defends Aliens: Colonial Marines.
