My ONLY complaint about D3 is that (and hate on me if you want) they haven't given us an option to use controller... um, controls. As a Demon Hunter and Mage, I'd like to be able to move and cast/shoot.
This is why I played it on console instead of PC (even though I started on PC)

Update 2: I started the intro, the game looks pretty awesome. Much better than I expected on my ATI card. But as soon as I moved, there was a ridiculous amount of motion blur. Everything looked like a cartoon. I usually turned that off on the older games but there's no visible option to turn it off here.

Oh and as soon as I got to a certain point, crash to black screen. At least I wasn't forced to reboot this time...

I thought you did that so you could pay for the privilege of playing online?

Since D3 is also on the consoles + supports gamepads there, I do feel the PC version should've later gotten additional gamepad support in a patch.

This also could help console gamers decide if they want to get double-dipped upon + go get the PC version.

[insert typical MysterD rants about D3 PC's online DRM right here]

I started Arkham Knight and I guess I'm in he minority because the game runs fine at 60 FPS with everything maxed (nvidia crap is turned off).

I do have a R9 290 so that helps. I got about halfway through the game and stopped and haven't touched it in about a month, still waiting for that patch before continuing.

So, I went and played and finished Mafia 2. Second time beating it (first was at launch on 360), playing that game at 60FPS made the driving so much for manageable then I remember. I may be a sucker for Italian mob type stories or something because that game totally had me into its story.

I'd like to play the first one but they don't want to sell it to me. :(

Anyways, Mafia 3 HYPE!

I know you're lying because you say you have an AMD card and AMD cards always have problems and no way an AMD card would run a game that an Nvidia card would have a problem running because aliens.

All those Steam reviewers passing on FF Type-0 because of FPS are missing out on a crazy fun game. Paid $20 for one of the most fun action RPG games I've played in a while and the story isn't too bad.

Despite lack of resolutions and framerate caps, I still need to play more FF13-1.

I'll just wait for FF Type-0 HD to be somewhere b/t 66-75% off, at least.

Imagine how much better it'll run, once the new interim patch comes out that lowers the AMD requirement back to 2GB AMD VRAM cards:

Yeah, the GameWorks stuff ain't even worth turning on here on my 4GB 960 NVidia card.

Too much of a performance hit. Not worth it.

Wait did they 30fps cap it after the community raised holy hell about that with torches and pitchforks on the FFXIII PC release?

Modder "Durante" on PC Gamer about the FF Type-0 HD PC technical port:

http://www.pcgamer.com/final-fantasy-type-0-port-analysis-snatching-defeat-from-the-jaws-of-victory/

Bad:

-> 30 FPS lock

-> 720p and 1080p resolution support only

Good:

-> Fair amount of graphic options (options for AA, AO, Shadows, Reflections, etc)

-> Super-speed option like The Last Remnant PC has

Japan just needs to give it up and only hire foreigners to do their PC ports. Like seriously, that should be a fucking UN resolution or something. Don't let a Japanese citizen anywhere near the production or conversion of a PC game.

Oddly enough, though - Durante mentions that even w/ the lack of resolution support + the 30 FPS cap...

...they added other graphics bells + whistles (AA, AO, Shadows, Reflections).

And they added super-speed mode (like The Last Remnant PC has).

Go figure. [shrug]

EDIT:

Since Square Enix often uses Nixxes do their PC ports for Deus Ex HR, Tomb Raider games + Hitman games, I don't know why they don't just let Nixxes handle PC versions of FF games. Nixxes always seems to deliver nice PC ports.

D3 wasn't anything that great by itself all alone.

Loot Patch 2.0 + ROS expansion (especially w/ Adventure Mode) are major game-changers, making D3 into something awesome.

EDIT:

Also older games like D2 + StarCraft 1 were still getting patches numerous years after its release here + there. That's better than most companies do.

Coming from a guy that plays it wrong differently.
FTFT.

Why should it have taken multiple run-throughs w/ D3 base-game for me to finally love it before Loot 2.0? It should've been great from scratch. And probably, it could've been much better if Loot 2.0 was released before I played it initially.

Though, I had an absolute blast w/ RoS content on my one playthrough (Witchdoctor) & then doing a fair bit of Adventure Mode. I do need to give it another run-through w/ a different character sometime.

I might not run multiple play-throughs and whatnot w/ most games b/c I'm usually always eventually in "onto the next game" mode, after I've had enough of said game - whether it's for me to take a short time away or forever, who knows.

What level grift have you got. You get all your legendary gems? Complete a set? Earn a banner? What's your paragon level? How's your seasonal character coming along?

No need for you to ask those questions. Just re-read carefully my words from that post.

Your answer's in there.

Yeah... but that Blizzard vanished for a good decade or so. The overhaul D3 got was fairly surprising in light of Blizzard's more recent antics post WoW era.

(looks around)  Are you kidding me?  D3 launch was terrible.  T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E...

In hindsight... let's just ignore the fact that you couldn't connect.  And then lets forget that entire auction house that failed so miserably they pulled it.

Best thing did was patch it... and with the expansion it was passable.

But GTFO out of here with the D3 praise... it was because of the crap they got, they changed it.

That's b/c just about everyone who had D3 before Loot 2.0 complained about the game. From the very weak loot-tables to the RMAH, D3 was flawed as can be in those regards. That's not even getting into the not-so-great story, which tried to do too much, when it never needed to (side note - ROS did a way better job of that stuff by being more straight-to-the-point w/ the story).

But, still - the excellent foundation was there w/ D3, namely w/ the awesome combat (the look + feel of it), which looked and felt way more visceral than anything else in the ARPG genre.

Blizz had to do something to make D3 really worthwhile, since so many were still talking about how it was vastly inferior to D2 + LOD. D3 was in the works way too long since their main core left and that old D3 version got scrapped; and they restarted the game. So Blizz had to do something, especially since D3 was a major investment by Blizzard + Activision; and they still sold ridiculous amounts of copies of this thing.

Enter Loot 2.0 and ROS expansion - which changed D3 and fixed most of my problems w/ the (online) game, IMHO.

And all that stuff Drabe mentions (Griffs, Seasons, Banners, Paragons, etc) - I'd guess that's just more stuff that is built to keep Diablo 3 players going, so they don't go running back to D2. Since I'm not one who really replays stuff - I don't know how good or great any of that stuff is or isn't. Others can speak on that stuff, if you're looking to do way more than I did w/ D3 + ROS.

This isn't 1997.

It's basically an MMO but on a smaller scale without a big overworld that everyone's thrown into running around in and where you just do raids and pick who you want to group with or solo if you want.

Hmm look at Ground Zeroes
I'm waiting for a killer sale on that - or some kind of MGS V: GZ + TPP bundle.

I'm glad to hear such a great technical job w/ porting Ground Zeroes to the PC properly. :)

So, seriously - how many players can you group with at max. now in D3?

And how many other max. players (who ain't grouped with you) can run along on the same exact map as you?

I will when it's on a dirt cheap sale or in a bundle.

And inb4 Madjoki and Spoder say you can get it for two cows and a goat from someone who bought a video card in Zimbabwe.
I mean trading two cows and a goat for a game that was on sale for five bucks last sale would be a huge rip off, but whatever

MysterD I don't know if you've played an MMO since the Ultima Online era, but modern MMOs consist of both shared maps for large amounts of players and instanced maps for a small amount of players who formed a group and just them. That's why I compared Diablo 3 to the Raid maps in MMOs, because those are instanced, not shared with everyone and for small groups, but you can still chat with people outside of the group etc.

Never played UO.

Anyways, here's some MMO's that I've played:

Tabula Rasa (not long - but I did like what I played);

WoW (ugh - didn't really care for it);

The Secret World (yep, I dug that one);

Guild Wars 1+2 (liked GW1; really dug GW2 in its Beta);

ESO (in Beta and during Free Trial Weekend not too long after Tamriel Unlimited launch);

Defiance (yeah, it's okay).

Also, you make most modern MMO's sound more like MO's.

So I'm not much when it comes to buying Steam games outside of Steam themselves but are the keys on eBay generally safe buy/redeem/get as gifts?

I just upgraded my PC and actually have some time to play some games. I want to play The Witcher (have 2 but want to play the series sequentially) and Tomb Raider and see that they can be had for about $5-8 now... just don't know if those places are trust worthy.

I am seriously tempted to Fakeybro Metal Gear Solid V.

Help.
If it ain't 50% off or better for a pre-order, why even do it?

Do you think you'll get 30-50 hours or more on one play-through?

Do you plan to replay MGS5 tons of times?

Im debating it too......but then again I've never played any MGS game.

Have GZ for PS4 but no want to play it

Figure I'll grab it on PS4 since I never seem to beat my single player PC games -.-

I hope it's not you outbidding me every single time...
Ha, no, I don't mean through eBay. Don't worry about it. If only more people bought my stuff at Amazon I'd have enough to Fakeybro it at Reddit.

Edit: I hate living in Mexico and not being able to use its store... the game is $30 here. :(
