I dont think they do charge the same amounts. At least not all places. I have called a Radiology place with insurance and they quoted one rate and then another person who didnt have insurance called the same place asking for the same MRI and she was quoted a lesser amount. I am told this is how it works at a lot of places.
Nope same here, went to an urgent care, it was cheaper not giving my insurance info, rather then giving it because the uninsured amount was less... I don't get our healthcare at all.

fuck extravagant out of control medical costs for out of your control things with a rusty mayo-encrusted ear probe. Just fuck them. fuck. Them.

We just went through this. My new job has pretty crappy insurance with a $4k deductible per person. As with all insurance you play the risk game - we generally quite healthy and going to the next tier of insurance would cost over $4k/year in deductions so we figured we'd roll with it. Well derp of course something came up and we tore through that $4k pretty quick. Through the course of it though we asked the emergency room and the procedure place about using the insurance vs not and two weird things came up:

1. the office/billing people balked at the idea of choosing not to use the insurance that we had even after we explained it. one claimed it was illegal.

2. with all of the sub-departmental billing in these places everyone ended up having a different policy - the procedure was cheaper by 10% without insurance, the anesthesiologist was twice as much. the lab work was more expensive, the ER stay wasn't. totally fucking bonkers. and of course spending 4-6 hours in the ER with an MRI + bloodwork with no benefit to us (i.e. no problem found and sent on our way) was about $50k on paper.

I have seen that on some drugs at the pharmacy. We haven't gone to an urgent care center (we do have a few near by) perhaps on smaller procedure / bills. Medical billing is all over the place. What they do at one hospital can be totally different to what they do at another.

This is the shit I'm talking about. fuck it all.

Mild I think we have similar insurance... as my provider explained when I complained about a bill, it is more of a discount plan than actual insurance. One trip to the ER and an ultrasound on my leg and it cost me $2000 out of pocket! Insurance is only good for major issues were you hit the deductible quickly. I pay $400 a month for me to have to still pay $4000 a year out of pocket.

As a VoIP guy, fax machines need to die already. Scan and email for fuck's sake. I guess that doesn't work for financial documents, but I sure as hell wish it would.
At hospitals - everything is still faxed. Orders, reports, etc. Probably has to do with HIPAA/security concerns.

I work in a bank too and we fax everything, we are just now being able to sign documents via email, but thats it, we aren't supposed to do anything via email. I also work with Automotive loans, and those docs are all fax as well.

YES VIRGINIA, INSURANCE IS A SCAM!

And we know its a scam because the bills dont just tell you what each charge is for, they use special codes that have to be deciphered by Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics!

Maybe this dude's history of erratic and disturbing behavior at previous jobs can help jumpstart a conversation to get better mental health for all the people. Maybe along with getting fired for this behavior, you go see a professional so you don't go shooting people. Or maybe if you're feeling off you can go see a professional to help you feel better without it costing an entire paycheck plus more. We need to remove the stigma of mental health and make it cheeper and easier to access. It may not have prevented this incident, but it couldn't have hurt.

#soapbox
Which is hard when so many state legislatures have been slashing money for mental health facilities. It's gotten pretty bad in my state to the point where a lot of them are severely understaffed because they don't have enough money in the budget to fill the positions.

We all have issues in our lives and have times when we are sad or depressed.  The vast majority of us snap out of it.  Shit happens.  Get over it and find help by talking to your family and friends.  As a friend you should hang out with someone you think may be feeling down.  Get them back up to feeling better.  It isnt that hard to go see someone and go out for drinks or something.  At the end of the day you gotta help yourself too though.  You cant go around moping everywhere or people will just start staying away from you and make your life even worse.

Volume review:

http://invertedaccess.com/2015/08/26/volume-review/

It actually reminds me of the developer's (Mike Bithell) other game, Thomas Was Alone. It has 100 levels, some witty characters (though thankfully they're a bit less pretentious this time) and a surprisingly mellow difficulty curve.

Being a platforming pro, I was disappointed by Thomas Was Alone. Being only a novice at stealth, I ended up really enjoying Volume. The game has a lot of checkpoints so its not terribly punishing. Also the story is way better than whatever the semblance of a story was in Thomas Was Alone. And the characters are better (Danny Wallace and Andy Serkis both do voices in the game). Oh and more new mechanics as you play than TWA had.

Volume is perfect who don't like all the frustrations that come with stealth. I definitely got spotted a ton in Volume, but the punishment isn't nearly as bad as in other games.

Were those against the CPU or head to head drafts?

My first head to head I had an amazing team, the other guy had Sanchez as his QB, I had luck. Luck threw two balls way over a receiver that the safety picked off... Sanchez didn't miss a single pass. They said they were making it so QB's would miss more, but in a game were luck had two bad throws and Sanchez had none, that made me mad.
cpu, cause i suck. funny, cause sanchez was my qb for the first team. i also had a legendary wr who caught absolutely everything.

my lastest draft, 14 elites. matt schaub for qb, but shouldn't matter.

Great review. You might not consider this an "error", but you have a sentence fragment in one of your opening paragraphs: "A military conglomerate run by a man named Gisborne who has unprecedented political influence and control of England".

Not everything. They are slowly crawling to the 21st century. Last few imaging procedures I have had done at the hospital my doctor was able to log into the hospitals system (he was a few miles from the hospital) and bring up my images and reports. Another doc I see is able to do that (be brought up the same images as well) as well as send prescriptions to CVS pharmacy.

Slowly they are moving forward but yeah faxes are still used a LOT.

My cat died though. Maybe a free game will help?

Thanks. Changed "who" to "now", which I"m pretty sure fixes the issue.

I wish the systems I work with would crawl a little faster. I'm tired as fuck of borked faxes with missing info or pages.

i find sex to be the most effective "pick-me-up"(yes, that means two things). otherwise, i'll just play some mind numbing silly ass game, or buy a game i think is cool that i might play one day before i die. ok, ok, i do those last two things regardless.

different people need different things though. i don't need people, i don't need to talk about it, and i don't need any assistance from drugs or alcohol. my wife needs her friends, she needs to talk(a lot), and she needs alcohol.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I finally got my Amazon Marketplace-bought copy of IA/VT in the mail. I might start it after platting Shinovi Versus.

So you are a loner that's closed off and doesn't need drugs or alcohol. I hope you didn't kill small animals as a child otherwise you might fit a serial killer profile.

man u guys are tough, I don't think anything has a perfect score yet
Haha I'm mostly a 6/7/8/9 guy.

Going back over my reviews, I've given:

5's - Two (Farming Simulator and Submerged)

6's - Five

7's - Nine

8's - Eight

9's - One (Geo Wars 3)

Honestly Geo Wars 3 could possibly be a 10, that game is so awesome. Nothing else I've played has been close to an absolutely exceptional game. QUBE and Ziggurat are two I did have a whole lot of fun with though.

That being said, I'm not the biggest fan of numerical scores, but it's dumb not to have them because its the first step towards getting on sites like gamerankings and metacritic. I would prefer more just a couple world classifications like "Highly Recommended", "Recommended", "Cautiously Recommended", and "Skip". I kind of score that way, with 9's and some 8's being "Highly Recommend", 7's being Recommend, 6's being Cautious, and 5's being skip.

Everyone scores and interprets scores differently too. It's all weird.

unrelated, did you add your location to the map yet?

i know you're not serious, but i find stuff like these two comments funny. i get crap a lot for being a "square". it's not acceptable to society anymore.

I'm generally good at ignoring the news that's none of my business (involving other peoples personal business) but I'm fascinated by that Ashley Madison thing. This is a real site? Where people could coordinate with other willing people to step out?

Yep, I remember radio advertising years ago for it and just thinking, boy, that's pretty fucked up and you're just begging to be caught doing this.
