Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.

I would highly recommend Rayman Origins if you don't have it already.
Already got it. And why they put Legends for 360 on sale for $19.99 when it was free on Xbox One with Games With Gold a few months ago was completely asinine. But thanks for the recommendation and to everyone else about Rabbids.

Press Play, the team behind Max: Curse of the Brotherhood, wants us to vote on what game they make next.
There are three choices. Voting closes 9/1. You can vote here: http://microsoftstudios.com/press-play/

Vote for Project: Knoxville, you a-holes!
I voted for Project Knoxville. It seemed like the most interesting to me. I love survival type games.

Forza 6 Demo has three cars and five races - two of the cars you can't pick (the flagship car and an indy racer) and the third you can pick from about 5-6 choices.  It lets you check out the mod system (so far, meh) & the level-up/prize system.  The game is stunning, particularly the rain effects & puddles - and the nighttime race in Yas Marina was terrific, re: lighting/fireworks.

This is why I wish Xbone had more cross-buy options like PSN.

Anyways, yeah, there's a freebie for Battlefield 4 on 360 and Xbone called Night Operations (and on Origin and on PSN).

In other news, I FINALLY got my preview invite. Can't wait to see if it works tonight. We'll see about paying it forward soon. ;)

Also, I tried playing The Deer God today and it was just awful. I got up to the todd boss, beat it and quit. No real sense of direction or explanation of what's going on (like the lives system or why you get turned into a rabbit or the difference between normal and hardcore), just keep going right? I can understand why the reviews on Steam are mixed.

Achievements are also apparently glitched? It's just a mess. It has potential though, they just need to stop make you wondering where the fuck you're going. Hopefully achievement guides can fill in some of the blanks.

Achievements have been glitches since PC version. Finished the game tonight. It is really short. If you miss that first quest then the rest of the game is endless runner, so make sure you do the monocle quest from the man in the cabin right away. After that you can pass up objective places and they'll come back. You never have to travel left other than a feel puzzles where you have to push boxes left a bit.

Not a bad game, but it is very short with not much replay value unless you want the other ending or want to just explore repeated landscapes. I think without Gold it costs $15. Should be $5. Over half the abilities you unlock are completely useless. The game overall feels very unfinished and could have been way better. Outside of a bunch of broken achievements, the game works fine.

You need to collect lives or raise your son if you want to respawn as an adult deer again. Really should be no need to respawn as a baby. They give you lives like candy and the only real risk of death is from bosses. As soon as you get double jump, go left and use it to get an extra life right at the start of the game. Frog boss is optional. Check your journal for what you have to do next. I think the only story bosses are snake, turtle, and eagle. All super easy. Although by the time I got to the eagle, I had a ton of invincibility items, so maybe it is harder than I think.

Voting for this closes in a few hours, FYI.
I voted for Knoxville, seemed the most interesting to me of the 3. Karoo seemed to Minecraft and Project Spark like. I don't want to have to do work in my games to have fun. Dwarka seemed to much like Diablo 3 and I'm not ready for another one of those, especially since it wouldn't be up to Blizzard quality.

I believe the first game only came out for the PC, so you would have to play it that way if you are interested. I never played the first one (only played 2 & 3) but I remember the 2nd game doing a fairly decent job of reminding you about things and explaining terminology and such.

You've got to read the original novels in their native Polish or you might as well not even bother.

You can play any of them first and be just fine.
I started with Witcher 2. Total blind buy and it became one of my all time faves. The game fills in the blanks for you as you progress in the story so don't worry about feeling left out. Spend those $5.
Lmfao I'll get right on reading the novels in Polish. In all seriousness thank you guys for the replies I'll buy it in a few.

Just started chapter 1 of MGSV and have seen Kojima's name probably at least 10-15 times already. Removing his name from the box art was a dick move, but at least anybody playing will know he is a huge part of it.

But did you make sure to grab the COG tag hidden in the fight?
Never played the PC chapters before, so I didn't know there was one there, and didn't see a Crimson Omen. Though the omens are sometimes better hidden than the tags. I found a tag earlier in Act 5, but couldn't find an omen anywhere nearby. I've made it to Raam and missed 2 tags, the other one somewhere in Act 4. Can sweep back later on Casual to find the tags I missed.

The Raam fight seems cheaper than the 360 version. It feels like his turret rips you apart more quickly, he can hit you from certain angles when on opposite sides of low cover, the Kryll seem to be able to hit you when you're ducked behind lighted cover and I've been killed much more frequently by the Reavers that come up on the side. And there are certainly no improvements to the co-op AI, it's as dumb as ever. "Regroup!" "Oh, get right in his face? Roger that!"

Though there was definitely some cheapness to the Brumak fight as well. A number of times I was on the opposite side of cover, it went for its melee attack and killed me by clipping through the cover.

Also got messaged while I was playing by someone I never met before. "TRANSFER SOME 360 GAMES WITH ME" 10 minutes later: "SO WANT TO LICENSE TRANSFER".

wasnt sure how to beat the toad boss, respawned as baby deer not bigger one and never got a single achievement, deleted
You complain quite a bit in this thread. And you never use proper punctuation - which makes my OCD flare up.

Didn't you also have trouble with the very first boss in Witcher 3 - and then quit that game, too? Seems like games frustrate you easily.

Try this one, pretty easy. No dying. https://store.xbox.com/en-US/Xbox-One/Games/Threes/3201c2f3-2726-4c73-91b3-a405ef9753d5

Evolve will be FREE this weekend only starting 9/4 at 3am EST through Sunday 9/6.

Every piece of content (maps, classes, etc) in the game will be free over the course of the weekend, starting first with Season 1 content. Season 2 content goes free on Saturday morning at 3am EST.
All progress and achivements that you earn during this weekend's trial will carry over if you decide to purchase the full game. (Which is on sale for $20 this week at BB, FYI). Also this trial goes until Monday night 9/7 - not Sunday as I originally posted.

The game will be part of next week's deals - 50% off at date night.

This is why I wish Xbone had more cross-buy options like PSN.
To be fair, PSN doesn't allow cross buy on pretty much any retail title(as Origins is). If backwards compatibility pans out you will get that but the 360 GWG seldom gives out any Arcade/DLC/Indy games(I wish they gave out more Arcade games on 360) and X1 has mostly given out games that are X1 only(except Max and Guacamelee). Devs are moving away from PS360 development and most cross buy games on PS4 are PS4/Vita. Maybe games for Windows 10 will really take off and we will get W10 games to counteract the Vita games.

Yeah, but there's a decent amount of PS3/PS4 crossbuy, even if the newer releases aren't taking advantage of that as much as they once were. I look at the indie stuff released on 360 after the Xbone's release and it's just disappointing, as I can't imagine many people are going to want to buy the same game twice. I know the Pinball FX2 devs had to fight tooth and nail to get MS to do crossbuy for their tables, and that system turned out pretty well. But based on the fight they had to put up, I think they'll be the only one (besides Minecraft for whatever reason).

However, you make a good point with W10 crossbuy, I can't tell you how thrilled I am that Killer Instinct is crossbuy between Xbone/W10. Would be a nice touch to see more games do that.

Leo's Fortune releases next week on :xb1:. Trailer here. It appears to be a platformer about a fuzzy ball with a mustache.
It's a port from mobile. Fantastic game that had incredible graphics even on mobile. Wonder if there's any additional content for the console version?

With this Evolve free weekend coming up, it makes me think about and miss Left 4 Dead & L4D2.

I really hope we get those BC sometime soon.

I felt the same with what you said (except being harassed by Transfer people). I can't help but wonder if they adjusted values for the game, even though I know they claim they didn't do much, but if that then transferred over to the full game. Like how the Longshot no longer active downs online, but I wonder if that damage reduction affects the Longshot in the Campaign. I found it ineffective during the campaign, and just stuck with using the Torque Bow through most of it. But also the Gnasher shift of fire makes it variate in movement shooting.

The COG for the Brumak is in the back by the rubble, more to the right side directly ahead of where you're facing during the battle, near what looks like a Washing Machine and thin barriers. It's one of the better hidden COG Tags.

I also had my entire AI team stop moving during Act 3, so I had to do the Theron fight at the end by myself. Through the whole underground portion Dom just locked in place, and when Cole and Baird joined they did the same. It's also weird that in the Act 5 PC chapters the game still has some of the stutter. It's not as bad as it can be on PC, but I'm surprised they didn't do more to eliminate that. I can understand the lower ratings review sites are giving it.

It's still fun, but because it's not made 'better' or even corrected to address issues that later games worked around, I can understand not praising it. It just feels like a much prettier port of the game, with very minor additions. While that may appease purists, it seems like a waste because Gears of War came to backwards compatibility, so it's already something people could play or eventually play on Xbox One.

I do look forward to going back as Dom and blasting though the campaign on Casual though, mercilessly laughing as I take out the Locust.

I'll chime in on the BLOPS 3 beta, felt really slow to me. I really like Advanced Warfare, Modern Warfare 2 was the last Call of Duty I really got into.

My motto in Forza is: No braking = lots of winning

After the Gears dlc going on eBay talk, I successfully sold my golden hunter code for $17. May not be high as some but with gcu my game is fairly paid for.

Cheap ass!

And it's the only 100% fully snappable game too, apparently.

Got enrolled into the preview update today, seeing all those 360 games on my download list makes me smile. Doesn't hurt that I own all of them (including stuff through my Rare Replay) except for Kingdom for Keflings, Geometry Wars, Mass Effect and N+.

Question though. I have the PvZ disk with Zuma on it, will I be able to play Zuma on my Xbone through the disk?

Does the disk have a "portal" where you play the disk and after that you choose which game to play? If so, probably not. If not, probably so.

I know for most :xb1: owners (and all :ps4: owners ;)) BC is an afterthought, but it makes me all silly inside to play all these games on my :xb1:.

Yup, see that little check on his post? just click that and you'll be all set
I use that all the time on blinknot's post. Awesome suggestion to give anyone, but you could've been proactive but weren't. I think I am going click on the check button for your post.

Here's how you win Forza online:

1) Get the fastest car
2) Tape down right trigger
3) Bash everyone until they spin
4) ???
5) Profit
I'm pretty sure Eldritch is being funny here so please for the love of whatever god you find holy, don't do this.

And as far as him being funny, it's racing like that is why I finally decided to pass on FM6. Not even playing the demo for the car in FH2.

BC is nice, but to get a new version of those games with improved visuals and sometimes more content and other improvements and have it be free for supporting the original version(s) of the game is an awesome thing. A quick and dirty count from the Cross Buy page on the PSN webstore shows 126 Cross Buy games on PS4 that might be inflated with some duplicates, but anywhere close to that is still a lot and means that when you get a new system, you potentially have plenty of games available to you right away at no extra cost before factoring in PS+ stuff. It was a big missed opportunity for Microsoft to be so staunchly against this stuff with very few examples of Cross Buy between Xbox 360 and Xbox One for so long, as I'd love to have some of the indie stuff ported over to play again without having to wait for a BC solution. For achievement people, that would mean you'd potentially get a crack at another 1,000 points out of those games to give you a good reason to revisit those games.

Nintendo might even have more Cross Buy titles right now than Microsoft, which is crazy. I'm still skeptical about Microsoft's Cross Buy stuff getting anywhere near the acceptance and support that it has on PSN, so they'll have to put up or shut up for me. I wouldn't be surprised that they just offer some of the lower tier Xbox One games for Cross Buy and that's mostly it.

^^^ I wouldn't even call it cross-buy, because all the content I know about is only one-directional.  I.E., by the :360: version and get the option to download on :xb1: for free and not vice-versa.

Sure, but I'd give them credit for the baby steps if it meant they were going to do it right at some point.

Not sure it was funny as much as describing that really awful percentage of online players that seem to win a lot of races playing that way.

Really? The only crossbuy titles for Nintendo I'm aware of are Olli-Olli (which has caveats) and Mario & DK Tipping Stars.

Xbone has Pinball tables, Destiny, CoD: AW and a bunch of DLC. So it's close, but I think MS wins by a hair.

If you count BC for Xbone, you'd have to count VC for Wii U as well (in Wii mode, but still). It's a shame VC porting to Wii U isn't free, but that's a whole other issue.

Anyways, I completely agree. Lack of crossbuy on 360/Xbone indies is a missed opportunity, regardless of BC.

Yeah, I'm hoping Killer Instinct will work for both platforms regardless of whether or not you buy it on Xbone or PC, and any other Xbone/Win 10 crossbuy games will be similar.
