They didn't say Annex, probably because it isn't currently available in public multiplayer. The update posting yesterday said they're "currently looking at potential ways to incorporate Annex in future playlists or community events", and the update also made the Annex achievements unlockable in KOTH and Blitz.

No. No they're/you're not. MS doesn't owe you or them shit. They don't have to give us "free" games. You should feel lucky you get anything at all. You pay for Gold for the ability to play online and talk with friends. GwG, demos, and discounts are an added bonus.

Don't like it? Tough shit. Deal with it. People who cry should open a blog elsewhere or post on your Facebook.
 
It would good if ms would do a poll for which games go gwg. It would be like how they do with a poll for backwards compatible. They could use this same Info to do sales. This isn't information that they would have to market out or try very hard to get as most users wouldnt mind taking a few minutes survey.

See. That's creative thinking. Not crying about it. Problem with it is, people would just want NEW games. The reason many of these games are free is cause they're slightly older and you can make sales off the DLC if there is any. Making Walking Dead S1 free, would make people want 500 Days and S2. Or even other TellTale.

Also, anyone know if the Walking Dead Escapist comes with the base game or is this a standalone?

Would MS provide an initial list to pick from, or just submit names? Because in the latter case I forsee a lot of bitching because either we'd get different CoD games for a multi-month stretch or Activision would veto the voting results.

No, I pay for Gold mainly for discounts and Games With Gold. The fact that Microsoft has only increased their GWG offerings since its initial launch is testament to the fact that it's a big appeal for their service and subscription, so we're free to be critical of their offerings each month. All of the things you listed are a part of Xbox Live Gold, so people are rightfully allowed to be critical when any of them fall below their expectations.

Your attempts at trying to reclassify level-headed criticism as "crying" shows that you're far too invested in defending them from criticism with these attacks. You're free to put me and the other critics in this thread on ignore if you don't want to read them. This thread isn't a hippy love fest at any other point in the month, so why should the GWG part of it only be allowed to have positive thoughts posted here?

I believe I submitted this idea a while back - I suggested providing a list of eligible games and let the gamers vote but nothing. Even if it happened, I'm sure people will still be complaining.

As for having the same game for both the 360 and X1, I don't mind. At least this way, I can play it on the X1 and delete it knowing I own it and can still play it on the 360 even if my Gold expires.

 
OT but I am waiting for my Desitny:TTK trade to clear and I was looking at some past trades.  While I may feel a little bad about trying to get $34 for what is basically vanilla Destiny it does not seem much worse when Amazon was paying out $33 for Hitman: Absolution and $38.50 for Madden 13 in Dec.

 
Frisky is correct. We're at a point that the quality of free GWG is a huge sticking point for many who decide to keep Gold subscriptions. We now have the right to voice dissatisfaction with the choices because they've enabled us to be that way. Telling people to stop bitching is like telling people who go to a seafood restaurant to stop expecting shrimp and lobster on the menu.

I assume in Ground Zeroes case this is Konami offering it to them hoping it'll interest people in their new game. It actually is a valid marketing tactic other studios should use. Like with Halo 5 coming I'd hope they'd give Halo 4 away to people. I know I said I didn't like it, but it's the idea that it may draw in new audiences to a franchise with the start of that new trilogy.

Walking Dead is probably just Telltale hoping that their newer titles will get more attention and purchases.

I figure you thought of all of this, I'm just saying I can understand why these redundant titles are being offered from a business perspective.

 
IMO if you buy too many games it's your own fault for having the GWG offerings but also IMO you can complain as much as you want, scrolling pasts posts I don't care about is easy enough.

Even if I don't like the games or already have them I'm still happy because my backlog gets bigger or II have the option to play with more friends. That being said I can't get into walking dead and metal gear, but valiant hearts looks really unique and cool.
 
I pay for my Gold subscription specifically for the free games. Like, why would I pay for gold for online multiplayer? What is this, 2010?
 
On the plus side MGS Ground Zeroes on the 360 has some quick cheezmints. Plus the positive is by November, everyone will be adding to their backlog anyways if they're on this site.

 
The voting would work but it would have to be pick from this list of 5-10 games.

I stay gold mostly for the discounts. I stopped buying games because of the gwg. I love it. Even if I don't like the games at the time it does let me try games I normally wouldn't play. My selection is very limited. I haven't paid full price for a game in so long. The 35.00 a year for live is great value to me just for gwg. That's about 12 games a year that I haven't played.

I use the live discounts with Bing points for my other gaming needs.
 
The problem i would see with MS using a poll to determine GWG is the same choices would come up every month. When an option wins the voting, it comes off the list. But we would still see the others from the previous month's poll.

Or you just make deals with a few games that will be out at the beginning of the month that the winner gets GWG status and the losers get launch discounts as compensation while still benefiting from the exposure.
