Confession time:

I don't mind the pre-quels and will watch them happily again.  They're not up to snuff with the original obviously and there are lots of annoying parts (JarJar, young Anakin, teenage Anakin, barely any Darth Maul, all the CGI).  But I don't shun them and refuse to watch them like some other people.  If they're on I'll watch because Star Wars.   May even look into doing the marathon of all the movies in the theater beforehand.

I find it funny you nerds hate the guy that actually created the whole Star Wars universe.

I get the hatred for the CG inserted into the original movies. And the hatred for Jar Jar but my god the man created one of the all time stories. He can do whatever the fuck he wants and we are all jealous of that power.
The writing in the second trilogy was atrocious.

I AM SO MAD.

You're acting like a baby, Anakin.
Whatever, let's make out.

Oh. Anakin you're the coolest.

GRRR I AM MAD AGAIN.

You, emperor, you're the Sith Master. I shall destroy you!

Well, you could do that Anakin orrrrrrrrrrrrr you could let me live. We have cake on the Dark Side.

Cake? Well shit, why didn't you say so? Where do I sign up?

Good thing R2 had his memory wiped at the end of 3 so he could forget that shit.

Yeah, just like that OscarTM worthy writing from the originals.

Anyone gonna do the 7-movie marathon where they play chronologically starting at 1am Thursday and finish with a 7pm showing of episode 7?

I would if not for dum work and $64.26 a ticket.

I don't hate them either. There are a lot of annoying parts, but there's still Ewan McGregor ObiWan, Darth Maul, Liam Neeson, General Grevious, that PodRacing Sequence, and mother fucking Samuel L. Jackson with a purple lightsaber. I won't go out of my way to own them, but yeah, I'll watch them if they're on.

That sounds fun. I wonder if it'll be the Disneyfied version of the original three or if it'll be the George Lucas treatment. I don't think there was a release date in the announcement of the rerelease.

Shaped by producers, other directors, studio execs, and other outside constraints. Ep. 1-3 is what we get when he is 100% in control. It is fair to posit that had he had 100% control for 4-6, they too may have turned out to be not that great.

Meh, all the movies have been produced by Lucasfilm. He was heavily involved in all. Maybe he is a shittier director, but even the best directors and producers dont make great movies every time. Also things change a lot in 20 years between the original and the second trilogy. 1-3 was never going to be as good as 4-6.

I think people wouldn't care as much about the dubious quality of the 2nd trilogy if he wasn't also being a dick about holding the original cuts of the OT hostage and pretending for the longest time they don't exist in his eyes. The best legally available copy for home video was relegated to the level of bonus feature on the second DVD of special edition LEs, seemingly ripped straight from the 13-year-old (now 22-year-old) laserdisc master (non-anamorphic) with the least amount of effort possible.

Me and my buddy marathon all 6 on Black Friday while my wife shops. We just get hammered and make fun of the prequel movies (even though we do enjoy them still). The marathon's going to be harder and harder to get through as they make this new trilogy.

The newer trilogy had some good action but the real problem was with the dialogue. No witty banter or anything close to having any real presence. It just felt so lifeless and dull, cold. Hayden was awful as Anakin. There are good things to take away from them (as seen in cut up versions of the movies) but as a whole they just didn't measure up.

Thats Unity right?

I am really pumped for Syndicate after watching the commercials (which look badass) and the historical characters trailer yesterday.

The game is going to suck and I will hate it like Ass Creed 3. Too much HHHYYPPPPPPEEE!
Yeah I think so. We'll know if it's good or not based on the day one patch size. If it's huge, then it has to be good.

What is that, like 12 hours? How do you do that??? I can barely stay awake through one movie of any kind these days, let alone with booze and 6 of them in a row.

I still think Attack of the Clones was worse than Phantom Menace. Yes it had Jar Jar who sucked but the Pod Race scene and ending light saber fight was excellent.

in case you were still wondering if no man's sky thinks it's better than you, they had an exclusive demo with The New Yorker:

It's kind of like silent movie actors not being good talky movie actors. Lucas got hold of CGI and he didn't know how to use it.
This might be true. I still like the old animitronics and people dressed up in costumes over the CGI stuff for Star Wars. Its goofy looking but fits. I would love to see them try to make a new Star Wars like that with no CGI except for the space stuff and big ships.

Isn't that what J.J. Abrams is trying to do with The Force Awakens? He said he prefers the practical-effect stuff, too.
I really am looking forward to the new movies. But unlike a lot of nerds I dont really want to hear much about it. So I havent looked up anything. I saw last nights trailer and the other trailers they put out but I dont read up about it at all.

I hate reading.

Picked up Organ Trail and Jake and Finn(since I got a free redbox code).  Streaming them in just a second if anyone wants to watch.

EDIT: And Primal Carnage.  $20 for a dinosaur multiplayer?  I'm in.

it's always weird when you look at a sale page and something shows purchased that you don't remember buying.  when and why did I buy dead rising 2 off the record?

The wallet is safe again.  You know it has been bad when a cheap SOB like me wishes there was something worth spending some money on.

If I ignore RL DLC, the last purchase was 8/05 for Tiny Brains.  Prior to that was Motorstorm RC on 5/20.  Before that LBP Vita on 5/18.  So none of the stuff I have even bought has been that good.

not a terrible week one of halloween sales, but nothing for me.  I really need dmc4 to be less than $10 to justify playing it again.  organ trail is an easy pass for me having no particular fondness for the source material, but the day one discount is pretty bitchin.
