Some links to the bundles, as well as the standalone game, are below. Note that the Band-in-a-Box bundle has an MSRP of $249.99, whereas the Guitar Bundle has one of $129.99. The X1 standalone comes with a legacy adapter for your 360 guitars and drumsets, but costs $79.99; the PS4 can use PS3 instruments out of the gate and is only $59.99. You can also buy a legacy adapter separately, with the MSRP for that being $24.99.

* If you buy GCU online, you'll have to take it to a local store to activate it. However, you'll still get 20% off of the bundle during checkout.  If you're buying at least the guitar bundle, you're basically getting GCU for free ($30).

The Triple Cymbal Expansion Kit is also available for preorder on Mad Catz's website for $49.99, with a release date of "Holiday 2015" (big thanks to BonedChaos for the information).

Most of the past DLC from the previous games will be compatible with this one (and is the main reason I bought an X1), but at least 150 songs will not be compatible. Furthermore, a list of exactly which legacy instruments are compatible with Rock Band 4 can be found here.

Anyone know if the original Destroyer Pedal works with the new drums? Don't see why it wouldn't since it's just a plug-in but asking anyway.

not sure, my cuz got the new set but I don't think he tried a different pedal, but like you said prob.

it should def work with an older rb set with the lagacy adapter.

Probably not the best place for this, but I'm poking around and can't find anything so figured I'd ask here. I was playing on the Xbox One tonight after not playing for a few days. The game has been fine since launch, but tonight I was playing and the game would skip. Like the song would keep playing, but the instrument track (the buttons on screen you are supposed hit) would jump to a completely different section causing me to miss them because they literally were not on screen. Like when a CD skips, but the music didn't stop, just the note path would skip. Anyone else have this problem? Do I just have to uninstall/reinstall the game and hope for the best?

All that DLC redownloaded over again...

That happened to me a couple of times. Probably need to do a full reboot on your XB1. I did this yesterday because a bunch of DLC was stuck on "Installing...99%" even though it was showing up in the game just fine.

I hope they get the exports for rock band 1 2 Lego ect soon. I hoped it would all appear but even with most of my dlc i miss those songs and am waiting on the story mode to have more variety. Some dlc i own still says 1.99 im sure they will get it worked out eventually. I cant imagine the nightmare they went through licensing this.

Is there going to a be a thread for guitar hero live like this one? Just curious if there will be a master thread that will post dlc sales

From my understanding, there isn't going to be dlc for Guitar Hero. You'll be able to buy credits to play songs you enjoy from the live channels, but they only last for 3 plays or so. The only songs you can play unlimited times are the disc based songs.

Huh lol. Now I don't know if I should even bother opening my copy next week. I got it half off during that Best Buy glitch but was hoping there would be dlc and all that good stuff like the old ones. Guess I better do some research and see what is new or might just jump on the rock band wagon.

Question that I haven't been able to find an answer for so far: did the game + adapter bundle include any DLC when pre-ordered from Amazon? I've had the game sitting here for a while (don't have an XBO yet), and I realized I never saw anything about the DLC. Was it included in this bundle, or just the ones with instruments?

I'd like to say you'd get the pre oder bonus, amazon should of sent you an email. I had the game pre ordered at BB and pretty sure I was gonna get the bonus (ended up canceling) but not 100%

Not sure about Amazon, but Best Buy Legacy bundle didn't include any DLC with pre-order.

Thanks. Doesn't sound too bad but still undecided. For those who have rock band, how do you like it?
Hold off for now. The drums are screwy even after two firmware updates, vocals have lag issues (yes, that's actually a thing somehow), none of the exports except for Blitz work yet, redownloading DLC is a pain in the ass right now (and some songs are glitched), and it's missing a slew of standard Rock Band features (online mode, custom character stand-ins, Quickplay setlists, practice mode, leaderboards, etc). It's an empty shell of a game with a crappy on-disc song list and faulty instruments. The instrument firmware is upgradable for future fixes, but still, it shouldn't have shipped this way. I don't know how anyone didn't test the drums on expert and notice the faulty kick pedal and inability to do basic drumrolls.

Apparently more features are coming with the December patch. As of now, there's really no point in owning this game if you have RB3 already, unless you plan on getting rid of your last gen console. In this case, don't. The freestyle solos lose their touch after one song and Tour mode is boring. There's absolutely nothing new here that's worth the upgrade. Nothing. Not even the new DLC being released, because the instruments are too buggy to play them properly unless you're playing on Hard or lower.

For casual gamers who have never played a Rock Band game before, this seems like a great game. If you're an expert player with a history with the series, then this game will feel like one of the sloppiest launches this side of Halo MCC, only with a $250 price tag this time.

your drums are still acting up? you did the get the one for the pedal right?

idk my cousin said he was having trouble, did the first firmware update and said pads were more responsive but still had pedal problems, after second update he said it was flawless. And he is pretty good at the drums and his brother plays the drums for real, they'd def know if it was still screwy.

And talking to him about the new set he said it has two inputs for the pedals to have a double foot pedal!!! did not know that. You could use a standard 3.5 splitter and hook up two pedals on the older rock band sets but it doesn't work right, if you rest your foot down on either pedal it won't recognize the other pedal since there is only one input. And now that there is two inputs that problem should be eliminated. Def gonna try and grab a whole band set for cheap in the future.

Some people are still having issues with the kick pedal. Mine seems to be alright, but I can't do drumrolls of any kind. I'm not sure if it's double hitting or missing hits, but it's impossible. I can't pass "Excuse Me Mr." at all and that was a gold star song for me on RB3. I've recalibrated several times, and calibration seems to be alright on guitar. It's a common problem stated on the Harmonix forums from players, but Harmonix haven't mentioned anything about addressing the problem yet.

could always be DOA, just a possibility, might wanna try swaping it out if you can find anther set instead of just waiting for an update.

and would suck if you wait and turns out it is DOA and past the return period and have to go threw harmonix, does take awhile.

I pre ordered a legacy pack at Best Buy and ended up buying a Band in a box set the day of release because of the last minute delay. I didn't get any email about the DLC bonus and the lady at the store didn't know anything about it either. After a day or two I checked the BB boards and many others had the same problem. Within an hour of emailing BB customer service  codes for both my pre-ordered legacy copy and for the BiB I bought day of release were in my email. Do a quick search in the BB forums or just email them with your order number and explain you pre-ordered RB4 and didn't get your DLC and I imagine they can sort it out quickly for you too. The songs themselves are really fun and some of them like The Main Drag and Bang Camaro are great to have for long time fans, well worth shooting em an email.

I'm a little aggravated at this release. No export from previous games (really Green Day for the wife), the legacy adapter only works on a single profile, the mic and adapter have to use the same USB port on the One, no standalone instruments on sale at launch, no GHL guitar support (as an alternative to owning 2 copies of RB4), noticeable vocal lag (TV or stereo*), and (just because this really is my wife's game so her number 2 complaint) no avatar import from RB3. To quote her: "They didn't get the rights to their RB3 avatars, either"? Well played woman who is only rivaled by toddlers as "least interested party in gaming".

*stereo can be falsified by adjusting your speaker distances.

Rock band 3 export coming this December.

http://www.harmonixmusic.com/blog/everything-you-need-to-know-about-previous-game-soundtracks-in-rock-band-4/

Edit: was gonna pick up a ps3 copy, but can't find any new copies. Amazon has it listed for $100+. And apparently it has to be a new copy? If there isn't an export code in the case and you have to pay $15 on PSN, why does it have to be new?
Well, that's good news (though my launch copy of RB3 better suffice). Maybe the legacy adapter bundles will actually be available by then, haha. That's really something I wanted to use my GCU discount for, but it's been listed as "Coming Soon" since before the damn game came out.

It would also be nice if Harmonix could figure out ekits by then too.

Did rock band 3 have an export code? I sold mine along with all my gh RB games but took pictures of all the export codes just in case and blacked them out but if it expires it's prob dead, I got it at launch.

And they mention buying it digitally will pretty much be able to export right away with no problems and that's only 19.99 on the marketplace, so 35 to get the rb 3 songs isn't horrible(would get a hell of alot more songs than buying other DLC at 1.99 a pop).

Definitely sucks for those needing RB3 for PS3.  It's been something of a rarity for a while now and can go for up to 100 bucks.  The Xbox version has been sub-20 for a long time, so not sure why that is.

I'm pretty sure the export code gives you the ability to pay $15 more to export the songs.  I think i read somewhere that if you have any achievements unlocked for RB3, you will be able to export for $15.

That's what I was wondering. There is an used copy of Rock Band 3 (PS3) at my nearby GS and I was going to go pick it up, load it up on a PS3 to register that I played the game on PS3, then return the game back to GS. I'd love to pay $15 to play the RB3 soundtrack again.

Hell, if they offered it as like a $50 export option for PS4 users for the absurd rarity of the game, I'd bite on it. It's a steal for exporting 83 songs for $15 bucks, $50 wouldn't be absurd at all considering it would be $165 if they were available as singles on the store.

I actually read through the export guide and the FAQs but I'm still confused...so if we already exported all of these games once, do we need to do so again or no? It sounds like we don't but I'm not sure with how they worded a few answers. I kinda hope so as the only one that I no longer have a disc of (but exported) was Lego Rock Band.

It sounds like no more exporting is needed if you have already done it before. Once they add the tracks and link the exports to everyone's account you will be able to just download all the songs. They have some way of telling if you have played RB3 before which will make that export show up in the store for $15 when available.

I'm not really contributing much here.  I do want to say that I've been reading all these comments.  I'm so bummed that Harmonix has seemingly messed this one up.  I LOVE Rock Band, and Guitar Hero.  I play drums in real life.  I love these rhythm games.  My buddy picked this up.  I have held off.  I am so glad I did.  Harmonix is a company who cared SO MUCH about quality and the experience.  How could they release this with so many things "not ready".  HOW IS THERE NO ONLINE MULTIPLAYER????  I am seriously baffled by this.  I LOVED going online to play random songs with random people.  It was great jamming and trying to not screw the song up.  I'm surprised by these guys.  It's not like them.  Also, I'm not picking this game up until my ION kit from my 360 is compatible with Xbox One.

The game feels like it has a fraction of the budget of the prior games, which makes sense, since prior games had more substantial publisher backing from EA and MTV. So I don't necessarily fault Harmonix for not having some of these features available at launch, but at the same time, this is normally a $60 game (and much more with the instrument bundles), so it's certainly not unreasonable for consumers to expect a product that has at minimum feature parity with its predecessors. As it stands, Rock Band 3 feels like a much more complete game and perhaps remains the best Rock Band experience. The issue of course is people are moving on to current gen consoles and don't have a last gen system (or don't want to get it out of storage) to play old Rock Band games, and this is essentially the justification for Rock Band 4's existence.

I'd say to Harmonix's credit, they definitely did try to get as much support for old instruments as they could, and support for previously bought DLC (granted the process of finding all your old DLC on the platform is almost more trouble than its worth). Unfortunately, Rock Band 4's offerings feel fairly barebones right now, but I am hopeful they will continue to work on this for the December update and beyond. And barebones or not, it still feels like good old Rock Band when I'm actually jamming out to my favorite songs, and I am grateful there's a current gen way to do so now.

I got burned with my release day band in a box bundle for XB1. I have all my old instruments but they are old and dusty, I wanted the new sets because of the supposedly better build quality, etc.

Right out of the box my blue drum pad didn't work at all, and the guitar started messing up after just two songs. I returned it and I'm not sure when I'll bite on this again. The launch was a complete disaster in my opinion, they should have just delayed until everything was ready.

They did say, it was going to be more of a platform this time, and they will keep adding features. As someone that only played RB 1-2, I've had a lot of fun with it so far. Wish I could figure out a way to export the songs from 1-3 to 4. Since a new disc for RB3(ps3) is $100 I guess I'll just have to buy the dlc songs instead. After they have the RB3 export working, will those songs be available as dlc to purchase?

Not having online right now is OK because I usually play with others locally anyway. I only played rock band 1 so this is an upgrade to me at least. Planning on buying a sealed rock band 2 off ebay for the export code as well.

No they won't get added. If you are lucky enough to find a used copy at GS, you can boot it up on a PS3 which will register you played the game which should qualify you for the export. Have a feeling you'll need to have it exported into RB3 on the PS3 which then it will show up in your downloads for RB4.

Was the game never released digitally on PS3? They said you only have till 10/30 to buy it on XBL as they are losing the rights to keep selling the game past that date.

Could be wrong but don't think it was ever offered on PSN. Think that has a lot to do with PS3 copies being so high in price now as physical was only option for the game on PlayStation.

The RB3 export date is a plesant surprise but I'm kind of worried that they are announcing it, yet still have not said anything about the various other exports.

The announcement made it seem like it needed to be a new copy. Is this not the case?

My launch copy of RB 3 has a code on the back of the instruction manual. Must have thought we may need it someday
