A friend of my has the Oculus Rift 1 and 2. I've used 1 and it was pretty cool but the resolution was way too low and the comfort level was terrible. It made my eyes water and that just ended up with drops scattered on the screen. Didn't work well. Despite that it was still really cool even with the tech demos at the time. He says 2 is a lot better and I imagine VR is a huge improvement over that as well.

I've no idea what price point they're going for, but if they target ~$200 I think it'll do okay. Higher than that will be problematic unless critical/fan reception is amazing. Does anybody know at this point if the unit runs off PS4 or if it does its own thing somehow?
Nope PS4 is required, that has been confirmed. And $200 makes sense. Like I said though, they need to get it into our hands to try. Because yea, it's hard to say I'm going to buy this without experiencing it first, because most of us have not used any VR.

I'm not going to shit on VR until I get to try it. I can see some cool uses. Like VR would be really nice for Pinball Arcade. One problem I have with PA is that some side shots are hard to make because I can't get a good view of it - it tries to get around this by offering different fixed views, but that only kind of works. If it had VR support and I could adjust my viewpoint quickly and naturally while playing, that would be awesome.

The only way this doesn't go the way of the Vita is through the games.  Sony needs to take a chance and develop some big exsisting IP's to VR to get people hyped.  No Man's Sky, Gran Turismo, Kill zone even...

And there it is.. Gran turismo with VR

The GT crowd pays out the ass for steering wheels, the ability to add VR will get people to buy.  I mean what $500 if VR is $200 for a full driving simulator?

You could do $1000 for a PS4, steering wheel, VR, and GT Sport? Fans would pay that in droves...

VR can "work" and be fun even.  But if I had a million to bet against it selling well I would do it.   Someone in a group of friends will buy one and everyone will try it and then be done with it.  Putting something over your eyes so you dont know whats actually happening around you is not something the vast majority want to do often enough to make VR successful.  It cant be comfortable long enough.  My headphones bother me after a while even.  Something over your head and eyes will be hundreds of times worse.

Unless you can make it have sex with you.  Id buy that!

I meant what in SMB is the random element you're talking about.
Sometimes when I do the exact same thing in a level, I die even though I've finished the level that way before, such as from a missile that was launched early for whatever reason or one of the teeth-demon-things crashed at a slightly different angle, sending unavoidable shrapnel directly towards me.

When are game companies gonna realize that the vast majority of us are not creative and that we're paying to do the creative for us. Don't make me work, just let me play.

But I'd totally buy Dreams if you could get all Freddy Kruger on their asses.
I think this depends. If the creativity of others can be utilized by downloading their creations (and with some way to rate tracks so you can find the good stuff), that's a big plus. Like the Trials games editors. That's awesome even though I don't make any tracks myself.

It is a Quantic Dream game. If you liked Heavy Rain or Beyond: Two Souls QTE and point and click style interactive movie experiences, you will probably like it.
Ooooohhhhh. Interest dropped exponentially. But all I have to base this on is the demo of Beyond: Two Souls. I didn't like it. Then again, android story. Maybe anyway?

It isnt 5 star worthy but its worth $1.50 if you like that kind of game. I had a lot of fun with it.
Watched some of this video and it looks like it could be fun, but that camera is making me motion sick. :(

Don't know if anyone saw this... but another shelved Star Wars game may be making a comeback.  Guess a developer was making a Darth Maul video game that was canceled when Disney bought out Star Wars.  The developer believed so much in it, they are building a new demo from the ground up based on the idea to present to EA and try and have it made... sounds interesting

Darth Maul Origin Game

Definitely happy I chose to go to lunch at noon instead of watch the rest of the conference. Couldn't care less about Gran Turismo and Quantic Dream.

Even as someone who loved Heavy Rain I think Beyond Two Souls was mediocre. Heavy Rain has lots of different endings but BTS was completely stuck on rails and the slow-down to try to give you a hint about what command to input sucked compared to just putting button prompts on the screen.

There was a lot of different ending options for BTS as well. They were just all stupid. I still stand by Heavy Rain being the best of the genre which includes Until Dawn.
