Same here. I'm halfway tempted on Watch Dogs and maybe Last of Us for $6 each. But at this rate I'd never get around to finishing my ps3 library before the ps5 comes out.

Sticking to the main game it seemed like most open world games like it. Having played GTA V and Sleeping Dogs after it I will say those games are better but I enjoyed Watchdogs enough. I thought about stopping in Walmart near where I was but well Walmart.

Watch Dogs was my least favorite platinum that I went for... too much boring grindy that I had no fun what so ever with.  Drinking game sucked...  the online portion was bad too.

I was really thinking about it the other day since some peeps in here get upset when I rag on Ninty but a question I'll pose to all of you as well. What was the last Nintendo game where you could really say to yourself this is amazing, something new, and something that had you genuinely excited?

If I'm being honest Super Mario Galaxy is probably the last game that felt super inspired to me. That game launched in 2007. This obviously isn't to say Nintendo hasn't had great or amazing games since then but it was one of the last games I could point to that gave me that Nintendo high.

I was really excited about Fire Emblem Awakening. I can't say it was especially new, but it was definitely my highlight of whatever year that was. And again when I finally finished it up earlier this year.

Splatoon was also a lot of fun imo, not something I kept playing for an extended time, but definitely worth the purchase for me. I don't know that I can say I felt super inspired about it or any of the mechanics, but it definitely did something a little different that was fun and new.

But when I look at gaming overall this past year, of the things I've played. I'd have to say I've personally been far more excited about and interested in random little indies than AAA big studio games as a whole. Highlights for me have been Axiom verge, Rocket League, and Foul Play. I can't say that I've played a AAA game this year that I've enjoyed more than I enjoyed those three.

For me at least, I can't say that its just Nintendo failing as a whole. The big production game series as a whole are loosing my interest. Not just nintendo games.

 
Ordered a Talos for in store pick up.  I'm kind of wary since the closest walmart that had it available for today is also probably the jankiest near me.

I'm getting closer and closer to the AC:S plat, but I still have the last bit of story and all of the grindy stuff left ugh.  I tried to do the WWI thing all in one go during lunch just now but couldn't quite finish it.

Are all you cool cats going to try to trade it back to best buy on Saturday or are you going to wait for target's double value on fri/sat of next week?

The cool cats (aka the ultra uncool me) are going to trade it in to BB before end of day Saturday. Especially if I get a new PS4.

Laptop type device that plugs into the TV via HDMI?

DS type controller that goes with you?

Dreamcast VMU?

blood bowl is hard to not pay attention to since there's no pause between turns and they're relatively short. if you're anything like chewy and me you'll need most of your 3 minutes and you kind of have to act based on what the other team does. that said I usually watch tv between turns and it's only hurt me a few times.

Speaking of grindy trophies in Syndicate.  You had to kick 50 enemies off a train, and shoot 50 enemies before they shot you. 

But you only had to shoot 5 horses to make their carriages flip over?  I dont know if there is anything funnier than seeing people go flying out of those carriages as they go flying over your head!  They should have reduced the others to 5 and made this one 100!

 
So Toy Soldiers: War Chest -

It was fun, I absolutely adored the first Toy Soldiers and enjoyed the 2nd one. I'd say War Chest is better than the 2nd one but still nowhere near the original. It was much more challenging than Toy Soldiers 2 which is a good thing. War Chest required some decent strategy and a bit of practice.

The drawback, and this is going to sound eerily similar to my Transformers critique, is all the different factions available. There are four in the base game then four more in the Hall of Fame edition. Which is all fine and dandy EXCEPT that the game incentivizes you to pick one faction and stick with it. Each faction can be leveled up, and each level you unlock more powerful upgrades. The levels progress in difficulty to align with these upgrades, which means you can't just switch between factions whenever you want. If you decided you wanted to use a new level 1 faction in stage 10 you would get your ass kicked.

So unless you're looking to play through the game many many many times, the 8 different factions really don't matter at all. I just stuck with the Kaiser faction from the original game and only dabbled with a couple of the other ones. It was a massive waste of development time to create each unique faction, unique weapons for all of them, etc without giving the players unique and reasonable ways to swap between the factions and get to know all of them.

That Halo 5 Engadget review seems to be one of the outliers. Most people have really enjoyed the single player campaign, the biggest issue I've heard about it is that the story is kinda stupid and there's too much focus on the new guy and not enough on Master Chief.

I've heard a lot of positives about the MP but the community still needs a while to really put it through its paces. Every big game's MP is lauded at first, the test of time is a lot bigger to see if it can keep people interested for the months to come. I'm sure Halo 4's MP was pretty lauded upon release but now everybody hates it. Everyone loved Titanfall until they realized it was a bit short on content to really hook people for all that long.

Don't know what to tell you. The California roll made me gag a little. I couldn't finish it. I do like crab and rice and avocado. I guess I just don't like those things together. At all. The soy sauce made it somewhat tolerable, but when I got to the last one I just couldn't do it.

Laptop sounds kind of interesting, but more likely a wii-u kinda deal with a DS controller that can function alone instead of the tablet. Probably can steam games to it ala wii-u but it also functions as a separate unit. Gonna end up a little bulkier than the current 3DS models, but hopefully it'll be set up a little better than the current wii-u gamepad controls.

Maybe they end up convincing devs to have split versions of the same game ala the new dragon quest thing where they have the full console PS4 version, and the pixel art style 3DS game.

Consider me hyped as fuck if it ends up looking like a vita without the dumb back touch and expensive proprietary memory.

I'm probably wrong as hell and it'll end up being a GBA SP with 10 link cables and a gamecube player.

MD crab is awesome. Crab cakes and steamed crabs FTW.

But crab cakes aren't always delicious. I had one in Maine and it was god awful. They don't know how to do crab in Maine.

I'd think they would want to get away from an expensive to replace controller like they have with the Wii U though. That's why I'm thinking a laptop-ish design with some sort of home dock might make more sense with a wireless controller. Plus you'd get the power of the whole console when out of the house. Just a thought.

Power and cost is always a concern though and it would definitely have to be smaller than a PS4\XBONE. I wonder how far you could trim down a PS4 currently. I'm sure Sony's working on PS4 Slim already. Wonder if the NX will be as powerful.

Yeah, but that seems awfully bulky for travel use. While I'd be interested in the idea, I don't think I'd actually take another large device out and about with me on top of my regular laptop, ipad, and phone.

Then you add in the people who've completely switched to tablet only or chromebook sized laptops/convertables and I really don't think it'd leave the house. Especially as a dedicated gaming machine.

As is, I know I carry around a lot of crap during the week just having a laptop/tablet/phone/vita (and occasionally 3DS) I don't know if I could be convinced that I need a home console sized thing to just take around with me instead of just playing the occasional steam game on my existing laptop or a mobile game while I'm out. It'd be good for extended trips, but I think they'd loose a lot as far as smaller sessions and/or commute time gaming where they see a lot of sales from ala Japan.

Got to get back to work on Syndicate after spending a day trying to get a diamond cup in Rayman Legends because fuck you trophy makers how am I supposed to be in the top 1% when only 150 people do the daily challenges.

And loaded up the Battleborn technical test only to hit the queue. Closed it a few minutes later.

I got Best Buy to price match an order for store pick up. Must've got it just under the wire. It was, of course, a 20 minute phone call.
