Spelunker World is kinda cool, and I like how the online is implemented. F2P seems pretty generous so far, you need 30 moon gems to continue and you start with 300. I got another 100 when I beat a level after the tutorial. So not sure if it'll get way chintzy later or what, but the early stuff feels pretty friendly.

About halfway through BLOPS 3 and I have to say I am not really enjoying it. It has all the typical story junk and set pieces you would expect but even playing on Hardened is not that fun. Lots of bullet sponge enemies who can magically shoot through cover. Already looking forward to trading it in once I knock out the story this weekend.

Paper Jam Bros looks like a win. Too bad I don't have my own 3DS
Not that it matters in the least, but it's apparently only called Paper Jam Bros (which seems kind of redundant because of the "Mario & Luigi" already in the title) in Europe while our version will be just Paper Jam.

So, dilemma:

I haven't really played my ps3 in 2 or 3 months now. I've been strictly Vita.

I've been debating upgrading to the Playstation 4, but I don't see myself having much more free evening time to play that either.

I also regret leaving behind all those PS3  games I haven't got to, both of the free Plus variety, and those that I have paid for.

There is a ray of hope, perhaps.

How is the remote play on the Vita? Can it really serve as a substitute screen for the  PS4 and give me a way to play my PS4 titles while the TV is being occupied? Or is it just hype and the "big" titles (Your Uncharteds, MGS, Infamous) suffer from too much lag and graphical issues when you try to play?

Follow-up on the upcoming 50% promo at Gamestop:

So following up with what Deader posted, from 11/22-11/23, it should be an auto-promo. No coupon required. For the test locations that are taking in retro products, the 50% promo also applies to them.

On 11/24, the promo will require some sort of "bounce back" coupon, kind of similar to the Summer Sale 50% coupons.

At least 75% of my ps4 time is via remote play. It works great. There's a little bit of an art to having it work well and dealing with the control mapping can sometimes be a pain but if you can accommodate it's a good fit for your situation.

Dokuro down. Considering the game is one long escort mission of herding the princess through obstacles it was still pretty enjoyable. Most of the time there were barriers in the stage that prevented her from moving forward on her own so you have plenty of time to plan your next move.

If the ground is level, she will constantly move forward. She can't drop down on her own from a ledge, but if you pick her up, you can fall over the ledge. You don't take fall damage (being an undead skeleton), but if she falls too far she will get damaged and lose her crown. Then all it takes is one more hit to kill her. She also can't climb and you can't jump while carrying her. So the gameplay is moving blocks, elevators, and pulling switches to clear the way for her. Along the way you pick up extra powers such as the ability to spawn water to make items float, create a trail of fire from a flame to a flammable object, and inverting gravity.

To deal with the enemies in your path eventually you gain the ability to temporarily transform back into human (hero) form at will. While in hero form you can kill enemies and pick up the princess, but you lose the ability to double jump and are twice as tall making it easier to be hit by obstacles.

The game is broken into 15 stages (+ a final boss battle) and within each stage are 10 levels (one is 6 levels) with a similar theme and puzzle mechanic. Levels can take anywhere from 20 seconds to 4 minutes and when one is done, rather than kick you back to the menu it automatically starts the next level with little loading time. It's around a total of 145 levels. I only got stuck and had to look up the solution 4 or 5 times.

Every 2 stages or so you'll fight a boss which mostly involves dodging attacks and striking at the right time to stun them, but a few of them make use of puzzle mechanics.

The story is pretty simple fairy tale stuff. You are kinda tossed in the middle of things at the start and it isn't until you get to the end of the game that you learn your character's back story. But basically you are a minion in the Dark Lord's army. The Dark Lord kidnaps a princess to wed (as villains often do), but that doesn't sit well with Lady Dark (whose character design is the bizarre mix of the xenomorph from Alien in a skimpy leather outfit) who has her eyes on the Dark Lord and doesn't want the princess messing things up. She "encourages" you to keep the princess away from him.

About the only thing that really annoyed me about the game is there is an enemy called the Chalk wizard which spews out a cloud of chalk that briefly, completely obscures your vision, and then after a few seconds it only partially blocks your view. The only way to get rid of it is to either kill the wizard or wipe several circles on the screen to clear all the chalk off the screen with your finger. Thankfully it appears in the game very infrequently.

I never ran into any kind of save corruption or other bugs.

Still not sure FO4 is for me.  I think I have played 5 hours.  Got the cryopistol (no ammo though) and am actually working on a mission.  Will give it a few more days but might trade this in and start up either UCC and/or COD BO3.  Really hadn't died much till this mission.  No ammo for most of my guns I guess will do that.  Also no bobby pins to pick locks/safes is annoying.  Not sure what I should be picking up but that isn't a whole lot of fun so far either.  Especially when the crosshair isn't just perfect the option to take goes away.

Might dial it down to easy or whatever just to see if I can progress some and get the hang of it.

Going to trade my physical copy of UCC to BB today for a couple bucks more then I paid for it.  That will almost cover JC3 next month.

EVERYTHING

It's been a while since we had a $1 flash sale, so we're due. Either way I'm expecting it to hit in 2 weeks on Black Friday.

Also I just used my $20 Visa Checkout thing at BB with no issues. Just in case anybody was wondering if it was working.

I'm not seeing any lag. That aspect of it is great. The only problem is the lack of L2/L3/R2/R3. Instead it uses the touchscreen or touchpad to emulate those. That pretty much sucks, though some games make it more tolerable than others. Games that don't use those controls at all (or at least not for anything fast paced) are awesome. Like Rocket League (it uses them, but only in customization if I recall correctly and definitely not during gameplay) and The Talos Principal (set it to control option "V" which of course stands for Vita). But listen more to Mild. He's the expert.

Oh, one other thing is games that use small fonts are problematic on the Vita's small screen. Like I had issues playing Blood Bowl 2 because the tutorial text was too small on the Vita screen.

Does it really matter? It will be a bunch of junk that is not on sale for a low enough price for anyone to be interested. I have forgotten what it feels like to get excited about a flash sale.
It's Friday. Work is boring. So no, I guess it really doesn't matter.

Mother 3 is coming to Wii U in Japan. Since Mother 1's localization was announced earlier this year, maybe we'll see 3 localized now as well.
Awesome game. I'm the weirdo that has played Mother 3, but not Earthbound (or Mother 1). The fan translation was excellent. I will buy the official translation if it actually happens.

I've only tried Mother 2 (Earthbound.) I couldn't really get into it, but I know it's super popular so as long as they do a decent job with marketing I'm sure 1 and 3 should do well.

Mild and Crunch, for remote play, is your PS4 connected wired or wireless?

Mine is wireless. I've tried remote play using wireless via my router and also the direct link option. It didn't perform well either way. Constant disconnects. Only tried with Until Dawn, but I don't think it could be game related because it would disconnect while just being on the main PS4 screen.

My PS4 is wired and for Remote Play I am *not* using direct connect, rather going through my wireless router.

How was it? You should genocide_0wl/therm/bookify it since I don't think anybody has posted much about it yet.
I cant write books like you guys besides I have to try Dead Nation Vita on my PSTV now. I almost forgot I had this thing. It might be perfect to work on my third Dead Nation plat.

And yeah I took another day off work. Cause fuck work.

Blops 3 people, anyone beat the campaign yet? How long did it take? Gonna attempt to marathon it with a friend tonight.

As I said before, my FPS skills are probably rusty, but it's taken me maybe 5-7 hours to get to the final stage on Hardened (which I haven't beaten yet). I presume it would take less time if you played on an easier difficulty and/or with more people.

"genocide"? Spellcheck fail?
Whoops. I'm on another forum with somebody named Genocide0wl. He changes his steam ID to variants with 0wl all the time. I actually thought guardian_owl was the same guy for the longest time and didn't realize he wasn't until not long ago when I sent him a message on Steam about something discussed in here. Due to that I sometimes type the wrong name.

Finished off the second part of the Saints Row 3 campaign last night.  That game is bananas.  Love how over the top and not serious and weird it is.  Gonna go back and try to complete as many of the challenges and other things as I can for the plat, though some of those challenges seem pretty daunting.  Also all those car thefts and assassinations.

Anyway I'm glad I got back into it after a couple years break.
