We're having that White Elephant gifting thing in my department and the limit is $20-30. Since I'm new I have no clue what anyone would be into. They're also doing Secret Santa but I'm not participating in that one. Is the purpose to get a gag gift or a cool gift? Any ideas? I might just buy a gift card unless I can think of something unique.
Usually there's one or two gifts everyone wants and they try to swap for. I think I hated that game because you usually end up with something you regift or throw out.

With that said, you could get a practical gift no one would really want. Like a car emergency kit. http://www.amazon.com/AAA-Piece-Emergency-Road-Assistance/dp/B0006MQJ0M

A good gift would be a nice bottle of wine or liquor.

Microsoft started their holiday sales early.

I see Minecraft Story Mode season pass for $18.74. I'm not huge into Minecraft, but like TellTale's games and am interested to see what story they built. What do you think? Good price?

King's Quest collection is $30. Seems steep.

EDIT: Nevermind. Seeing the other TellTale passes for much cheaper convinced me to wait for it to be about $10. I still need to work through Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones.

Someone posted this in the Japanese Niche Games thread:

Sure, most of those are obscure Japanese stuff, but #longlivevita anyway.
hyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyype

i really need to learn japanese

Baldur's Gate and semi-spiritual sequels Champions of Norrath were the bomb. I miss Black Isle Studios.
Best couch co op games ever. I loved CoN a bit more simply due to playing the real EQ for years. I just found out there was a Fallout game on PS2 in the same style and engine as these and ordered it a couple days ago. Not sure how I wasn't aware of it before with my ridiculous collection but I'm glad that its rectified. Can't wait to play it.

Well'p didn't think I'd get bored of battlefront this quickly... but I'm bored with battlefront. Hopefully the value holds till saturday. The gunplay in destiny is just way more satisfying. Sucks that this game was multiplayer only, a solid campaign would have gone a long way towards longevity on this one.

How many times would you really play a 5 hour campaign?

Spent some more time with Battlefront tonight and I am definitely trading my copy this weekend as well...just not that fun.  A real shame too since I LOVED playing Battlefront 2...something is missing here for sure.

How common in JRPGs is there this thing where you go through some dialogue and then afterward it repeats what you just saw? This happens in P4G and it's pretty dumb. But I don't hate the game (yet?)

After reading everyone's opinions here I think I might just return battlefront. Not sure it's even worth opening to try out at this point as I know I'm no where near as big a star wars fan as others. Was really hoping for something to keep me away from Destiny.

Yeah I wasn't expecting the game to be a shittier Battlefield with a Star Wars skin.  At least I can use the money to pick up Just Cause 3 since everyone is so hyped up about it.

...and Lost Song since I forgot that released a couple of days ago.

And now a new trophy list for Teslagrad just showed up for PS4.

Not sure how to get one's hands on these new trophy versions, but there's sure a lot of pretty simple trophies to be had there.

Ok, I think part of my problem is the Fighter is so aerial focused (jump into the air, and rapidly click attack to slowly descent while slashing) that it's easy to lose track of him. Did the Wizard next and he mostly stays on the ground and isn't right in the thick of the action so I've only lost sight of him a few times if he gets knocked backward. I'm liking the Wizard a lot more.

One feature I appreciate is the option when starting a new character after beating the game is skipping the early grind of the A routes on all 9 stages and being able to start at lvl 15 and only have the B routes to do. Also any side quests you've completed with another character you can skip and still get the skill-point reward (not the gold or Exp reward) on all other characters.

I had to be at the airport at 4 a.m. this morning, and it was crazy crowded. Took close to an hour to get through security. What the fuck, people? I didn't think other people were crazy enough to travel this early.

And Zimm, fuck your winter storm warning and the 6+ inches of snow that are going to dump on me tomorrow at Camp Randall.

First play through of Fallout done, working on brotherhood of steel playthrough now! Should have plat by Thansgiving!!! :)

Wasn't that the worst of the series? I got for like $6 or something at BB for 360. Watched my nephew play it for an hour and never got around to playing it personally.
I thought it was really a fun action game with some outstanding set pieces and some really, really obnoxious segments. The mercenaries mode in re6 is probably the best in the series and is much more akin to a proper horde mode. I sunk hours in to it and kept playing even after I wrapped up the trophies.

Obviously there is not an ounce of 'survival horror' to be found in the game.

RE6 really is the worst Resident Evil in the series from a theme perspective, but I thought it was a pretty well-made action game otherwise.

You might be the only person I have ever seen say that. I thought it was pretty awful. I really couldn't care less if it is survival horror or not. I would have been happy with a good action game.

Oh shit this is co-op right? Might be just the game I'm looking for.
It is couch co-op, but the screens get really small when playing co-op that way. Also, I am not sure if that is a great gamer for someone who is not much of a gamer. Worth giving it a try though.

Damn, I'm pretty sure I left off at the very beginning of New Game +. Looks like I need to get through defeating Vicar Amelia before I'm able to check out the DLC. New Game + is balls hard, right?
Damn... I want to bite on this DLC, but my current trio of games demand my attention and that double XP on BO doesn't help.

A co worker got a PS4 the other day with a second controller. His oldest son is 8 or so. Other then Lego games (I assume they are still split screen co-op) any recommendations for local co-op play?

As a person of science, I admit there is no medical study that says there is any tie with vaccinations and Autism. I do not endorse the anti-vaccination movement that many parents of autistic children do endorse.

However, as a parent of not one but two autistic children, I have empirical evidence that it can play a part. My oldest son who has Asperger's Syndrome did not have any averse reaction to immunizations. I knew form the time he was born something was off. My youngest son nobody including the doctors thought there was anything wrong with him until his shots at 1.5. The very next day his vocabulary was not the same. His interaction and eye contact was not the same. So if you saw that and were in my shoes, what would you think or do? If you had another child would you vaccinate them? I do not think it was cause and effect. However, I do believe they play a part in kids that are predisposed or are on the spectrum but have not exhibited more classic symptoms.

My own pediatrician who is not a believer of the anti-vaccination movement has told us to never get flu shots for the kids and to delay immunizations as long as possible due to the history of my children that he has witnessed. Would you ignore that as a parent?

I still count us as the lucky ones. My wife has a friend from Tampa who had a child where they have video of him singing and playing at his first birthday party. He was well ahead of every single developmental milestone. He was actually even potty trained before getting his shots. Immediately after, he started going backwards. He ended up back in diapers. He lost the ability to talk, gradually became violent likely due to his inability to communicate, and sadly ended up having to be removed from the home and is under the care of the state now. Would you call his mother a dumb bitch for not immunizing the next kid they had just because there is no scientific study that shows there is in fact a tie?

Before you vilify any parent due to their beliefs that go against what the scientific community says is the case, just take a step back and think if they would really be carrying that banner if there was no reason for them to believe in it. I wish that no other parent had to ever go through what I have. However, I bet there have been more than a few people who think all the anti-vaccination parents are idiots that ended up wishing they had believed them. I know I am one.
Sorry to hear that and I feel terribly for you, your family and others to have to handle something like that. Something is going on but I have to beleive there is something else happening as well otherwise we all would have these same issus with our kids. Obviously someone a lot smarter than me has to figure that out. I just wouldnt want to see someone whose kid isnt vaccinated passing on some disease that is 100% preventable and killing another person's kid.

To be fair, it has been a while since I played it, so maybe I wouldn't like it as much now. Then again, I'm no stranger to liking things hated by most people.

Minecraft is an obvious choice. Kids love Minecraft and it's more fun coop. Up to 4 player split-screen.

Terraria might be a good choice too.

Peggle 2 has a competitive mode that could be fun for a kid.

Those of you MGS V players who S-ranked or otherwise completed the "last" mission (A Quiet Exit) and had trouble doing so, did you try using the Parasite (Armor) item? Based on videos, that seems to make things much, much more manageable if you're able to run directly to new tanks/vehicles as they appear and extract them ASAP.
