Honestly, That redbox deal is tempting for sure but it just sounds like a big pain in the ass. Selection will probably be limited. I wouldn't want to drive to a few and find none of them actually had the game or games I was looking for in the first place.

EDIT: Just looked on Redbox.com (hold for pickup) for either RE2 or Bloodborne. Bloodborne showed none in my area and RE2 had (1) 16.7 miles away from where I live. Screw that.

I'd get bloodborne at that price point. Do all these discs get marked as redbox though? That'd mean you couldn't trade them in when done, right? Sucks cheapy didn't have more info, I'd like to know when the sales start at least.
My local Best Buy hasn't cared when I traded in Redbox discs of How To Train Your Dragon 2 (Gamestop seems to only carry Redbox discs of this game for some reason).

I finally finished the first stupid level in zat on sniper elite with my european buddy this morning.  I don't know how we'll deal with later levels without more people, this shit's pretty tough.

I also learned about some trick you can do where if you run up stairs just right you fly a little bit and it lets you get in places where zombies can't reach you (on top of a table for example).  it jacks up the AI and they usually just walk up to where you are and freeze.  it's a neat trick and it was a little funny seeing a dude get up to a 6 or 7 digit score in one horde mode map but otherwise it seems to be useless.

So I ask (again) the very soon to be ex wife if she is still moving out Saturday but instead of answering she asks if I cant wait to get rid of her. And anotehr snarky comment. Which she did the other day when I asked. And when I tell her this is one of the many reasons why I wanted a divorce she says "please, whatever".

JUST ANSWER THE GOD DAMN QUESTION. Even if its "no, I canmove out yet" thats fine, I JUST WANT TO KNOW BECAUSE THIS IS A BIG DEAL. AGAIN WHY CANT YOU ANSWER THE fuckING QUESTION!!?

Prep yourself, rant incoming. I just have to get through these 100 or so posts I'm behind on to see if anyone else addressed it yet.

I'm pretty excited about getting a laptop for the new job. I guess having a new toy is nice. UHG has a partnership with HP so it's one of those plus a bag to carry it.

Our manager goes "You can use it for personal stuff as long as the sites aren't inappropriate. Don't watch porn on it. I had one guy do that and it was awkward for both of us. If you do it then I'll be telling your story forever unless someone else does it."

The dumb guy was watching porn at work in the lunch room. Someone reported him of course. When she asked him why he did that he said he thought it was okay because he was on break. Dumb indeed.
Was he also rubbing one out while he was there in the middle of the lunch room?

Bloodborne and Final Fantasy are both at one of the redboxes right by my place... might have to go check tonight just to see.

Say it enough times and Velo will show up. I'm sure he will "answer the fucking question".

The developer of the universally panned Afro Samurai 2, Vol. 1 is pulling the game from PSN, XBL, and Steam, and issuing refunds to everyone who bought it: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/afro-samurai-2-removed-from-stores-games-canceled-/1100-6432449/?utm_source=gamefaqs&utm_medium=partner&utm_content=news_module&utm_campaign=homepage

They also canceled Vol. 2 & 3.
Rant is going to be super disappointing for most of you, so apologies in advance.

But people really need to learn the difference between a developer and publisher. Both Eurogamer and Gamespot mislabel Versus Evil as the developer, but a quick click-through to their site shows that they're clearly an indie publishing house and that they published Afro Samauri 2, not develop it. Eurogamer goes so far to even insinuate that they developed Banner Saga as well, which is wrong of course.

To me, there's a big difference between a developer pulling a game from the marketplace and saying "we fucked up. we're sorry, what we made isn't good" and a publisher pulling a game, where the message is clearly more "we made a bad decision being associated with this product and it's better to cut our loses and issue refunds than let this product deteriorate our brand." The publisher, Versus Evil, has published some moderately decent games and the decision to pull Afro Samauri is about maintaining their reputation.

If the average joe gamer doesn't know the difference between a developer and a publisher, that's understandable. But writers for major gaming sites need to know the difference between the two and how to correctly distinguish between them (which usually takes as little effort as googling the name of the game) and realize "developer" and "publisher" are not interchangeable terms.

Amazon lightning deal.

$99 bluetooth headseats for $25.

Worth it?

Thought about picking them up, and just saving them as a Christmas present for myself.

You might be the only person I have ever seen say that. I thought it was pretty awful. I really couldn't care less if it is survival horror or not. I would have been happy with a good action game.
I'm with you on this one. People will say RE6 is a good "action" game even though it's not a good "Resident Evil" game. I thought it was a pretty dull action game, with plodding pacing and mediocre cover mechanics as two aspects in particular that frustrated me throughout.

I thought the first Resident Evil was pretty good. Had a nice tension rather than just being about gore and stupid action sequences.

This was my favorite part, though:

It's not directed at Vig, in fact that's a good example. Even well-informed gamers like Vig are going to take articles at their word instead of doing their own research, so the article writers need to be more responsible when it comes to the terms "developers" and "publishers".
I'm already bored of this rant, can you tell another story? Perhaps revolving around a fridge?

Yeah, I've done it a few times in here by sharing stuff linked on reddit or whatever and (I think) always owned up to it, often before anybody else even noticed. Unfortunately it's usually the times when you assume a site is a reliable source that it turns out otherwise.

Great rant/post, Tyler, but I think you meant to put "publisher" in one of these phrases.

I apologize anyway for taking the article at its word--I've noticed a drop in article quality at both Gamespot and IGN, so I probably should have known better.

Redbox commented in that Cheapy thread. Apparently deal starts today and runs through thanksgiving. Gonna try it out after work today.

publishcation

that would've been so much worse of a word than publication.  now that I've thought of it I can't stop saying it in my head over and over again.

Might try the Redbox by my house for RE Rev 2. I'll probably wait on the rest since I have plenty to play and need to save money.

Letter Quest (coming to Vita on Tuesday, thanks mpaullin) looks like it could be decent fun. Like a Boggle/RPG kinda.
