Me right now trying to take my turn:

Ok, let's see what we have here!

Ok, lots of words and letters!

...

Worry that my post is longer than a MysterD game review

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Huh. I think I need to get in on these games.

So, anyone ever connect their PC to their HDTV? Or send their signal from their PC to their HDTV?

What do you use to do so?
My secondary PC is an HDTV connected to the TV with an HDMI cable.

I've got one set up for my kids (all under 13), but it's a little different than setting one up for someone's else's kid. You probably want to get the parent(s) involved there.

Some tips: turn everything to private or they'll potentially be contacted by unwanted persons. Set the View to Small Mode, which eliminates the probability that they'll stumble across inappropriate images or discussions. It turns Steam into basically a Library list, in case you haven't used it before.
I've never used Small Mode, but my son doesn't have his own account. He plays on mine or my wife's, depending on what he's playing. He'll need his own account eventually.

Wow... Just wow. LMAO
Yep, I epic-failed.

[facepalm.jpg]

Only thing is - my tower's huge and I really don't want to move it physically, so I'd be looking at running some cables across the width of the room, maybe around some 15-20 ft.

I'd have to measure.

Some of the puzzles aren't all that great, aka make no sense for what's going on, but the story is really, really, well done. (I read/watch allot on Jack so I was expecting to find a lot of faults with it.)

Impressed the shit out of me.
But I already own that. I can't donkeybro it. Unless I remove it from my account and rebuy it.

Run the cables along the wall (and tuck them in between the carpet and the wall or use those things to screw the cables in place a long the wall. You could also run an HDMI from a wall outlet box to another one and do it that way, but that would require more work and possibly holes in the wall.

Steam leaked the sequel(?) we all have been waiting for:

It leaked something that was announced a year ago. Shocking!

I just looked myself.

Vertical Sync (AKA V-Sync) is under the VIDEO Menu.
Can't miss it.
Right up front; 5th option from the top.

It's set to Adaptive by default. I switched that to just ON (for 60FPS cap).
Looks like I MysterDed it and was looking for it in the advanced settings instead of the main menu. Found it now and fixed all the issues.

There are two levels of "sprint" while riding the horse, I think on the 360 controller you have to double tap A and hold for full speed (horse stamina bar should show up and start draining at the fastest speed).

Although I have been using KB/M so it is shift to sprint, and I don't ride the horse much since it gets scared easily and it interferes with my stopping to pick flowers and loot enemies/containers every 5 seconds.
Moving at all interferes with that.

That said I could finish a lot of better games in the time it takes Geralt to get off his damn horse. Heaven forbid he gets spooked and draws his sword while I'm trying to disembark. Then it'll be another ten minutes before he gets his fat pale ass off the horse.

13 without parent or guardian stuff. And if her parents aren't into it abort hard!

Source: Uncle with a list of 500 extra steam games.

edit: there ARE more experienced uncles and parents in this thread.
My sister has an account technically under her name that really is mostly just used by her 11 year old son and 7 year old daughter. She knows what the kids are playing on it and any purchases are made by her. I don't think it's unreasonable to do something like that since she monitors the account and any financial decisions are made by her.

I'm not aware of any official parent/child sort of account with Steam, no.

If having an adult be the name on the account it would probably be best if one of her actual parents made the account though, I would say. At least someone residing in the same household, but that's just me.

If there's no way for her to go nuts with the buying anyway then it should probably be fine if you make the account I suppose. Just be aware that thanks to the floodgate of anime and pseudo anime stuff coming in lately there's some, ahem, interesting pictures on some of the community sites that kids might run into.

Thanks for the info guys. Well, i'll check with my sister but im sure she wont care. If the min age is 13 and there is no parent account/child account thing like PSN... then how do i set it up for her directly? Just flat out lie about her age? Also. Should i set it up under HER email account and let her be or use my email account? Can you change the main email later?

Having one of the parents make the account isn't an option. They're pretty computer incompetent and wouldn't monitor anything anyway. If that was going to be the thing id have to monitor it

Particularly @ hal since you say you set them up for kids under 13... can you tell me HOW? Did you lie about the age, or what? Use your email or theirs? Thanks for the small mode suggestion. I've never used it

You guys really suck at fantasy football. I've lost like 3 or 4 of my top players and rarely check the league or put in waiver wire requests and I'm in third place and one of three teams with a winning record.

Also, Words with Friends with Flow would suck with him trying to use colour and flavour and wanker and other British crap.
is there a CAG fantasy league? put me on the list for next year.

I think when I set up my nephews Steam account, I just lied about his age.  It doesn't use it for age verification checks or anything so it doesn't matter.  I guess if his account was stolen and he needed to retrieve it, it'd help to know what fake birthday you used.

Way back when, my son wanted an iPod Touch more than anything for his birthday. So he convince enough relatives to give him gift cards that he can afford one from Toys R Us. Setting aside the story where I drive him for an hour to the one TRU with it in stock and he forgot his gift cards, we get back to the house (FOUR HOURS LATER but I'm not bitter) and get him started. Enter his birth date and... Nope.  He was 12 and you needed to be 13+.  So put in a new date, right?  Haha... We ain't stupid kid, getcher ass out of here with your fake birthday, we have your real birthday tied forever to your device.  I had to spend two hours on the phone with Apple to get them to wipe it and let me make an account under my name/date.

Yeah, I lied. fuck Valve and their nosy ways.

Also, you can easily change the email address. Which to use is a tossup, but sometimes it's a real hassle if Steam starts asking for an email confirmation. The flip side of that is you certainly don't want to lose access to the email account for verification purposes, and you'll need to figure out if you can trust the kid not to screw it up.

Haha yeah they made it such a pain in the ass to fool with that stuff. More recently, however, they've made family accounts that are tied to a parent account -- games and apps are shared and kid accounts can automatically ask for payment approval. You can also find the device on a map.

I guess Apple figured out that pre-teens want those devices too and that making it difficult to manage them was not in their best financial interest.

No it doesn't. Holding the button does a canter, double tapping then holding it does a gallop that uses stamina. You can move around during either but on roads you can hold the gallop without moving to have it auto follow the road and not use any stamina.

I never really had an issue with the horse spooking at all when I played it, what even happens if the bar empties? Does it run off for a while?

I think it just rears up and knocks you off. I believe you can cast the axii sign on the horse to calm it down as well.

Geralt runs so damn fast I don't use the horse unless I have to go really far into an area where I haven't unlocked any signposts.

Do you guys family share with kids/nieces/nephews etc?

I do with my niece and nephew (and my sister the once in a blue moon she actually uses that account). I did warn my sister that it's got some crazy crap in there like Hunie Pop and stuff, but she says they are pretty good about knowing what they shouldn't be messing around with and I've honestly only ever seen them in a few games anyway (the ones all those popular youtubers are on about ).

Anyway, my 11 year old nephew was originally using family share to play ARK (hey at least someone was getting use out of that purchase :p) but he got fed up with my shit because I was forever idling for cards which left my library unavailable so he just went and bought ARK himself. At full price no less.  :hot:

I don't have nephews or nieces, so I get to keep all of my money.

GIVE SOMEONE THE GIFT OF MEMORIES, THEY'RE MORE MEANINGFUL THAN MATERIAL ITEMS

(so show up to your holiday party with a hooker and smoke some meth at the dinner table)

Read the he again. I'm referring to Geralt. if Geralt is spooked by a monster, he will draw his sword, interrupting your attempt to get off the horse to fight the monster because Geralt is a retard. Geralt's horse disembarking is glitchy enough normally. You could lose a fight almost in the time it takes him to realize he should get off the horse to do his gay dance fighting.

My nephew is some odd duck who only wanted a laptop so he could play Napoleon: Total War. I bought him the Total War franchise pack plus a couple related titles in style: Mount & Blade Warband and Civ V. To the best of my knowledge he has only ever played the Napoleon game which I think puts him in a class of about nine people.

On the plus side, I bought all of the games from Nuuvem so I'm sure it was like four dollars and a banana for everything.

Sounds like YOU like picking on little kids.  Why do you like picking on little kids so much?  Lie down on the couch and talk to the nice lady with the clipboard...

because i hate kids

they are annoying snot spewing germ buckets and i don't understand why anybody ever is like "yo you know would make my life better having a kid"

Kid and wife, yes. For games my wife might play a lot I try to get a copy for her account so neither of us is stopping the other from playing. That might be a good idea for my son, too. My wife would rather play on my main rig than on the HTPC, though, which means I still might be locked out if she's playing a game.

Cheap as fuck with PC games but he'll thrown down $150 or so for some Muff Luv.
I've already bought a lot of those on Vita (Steins Gate, all 3 Danganronpas). I did hold out on FFX/X-2 though, so I'll be looking forward to those, but likely won't be paying full price for them.

I'll probably rebuy Danganronpa again just to have it on Steam even though I have it on Vita. I did hold out for Steins Gate because that always had a native PC version so it's really dumb not to release it on Steam at some point. I got Dragon's Dogma a long ass time ago for PS3 but will probably it too on Steam.

It's getting so that I really don't even want to buy weeaboo stuff on Vita or PS3 anymore since most of it ends up coming to Steam these days now.

Sony is getting like GOG for me where I go why the fuck did I buy games there again once mostly everything there pretty much ended up on Steam.

Does that mean you'll buy FF7 Remake episodically for Sony platforms and then later buy it on Steam?

The Danganronpa games are day 1 purchases for me because I play them immediately, I'll probably buy Danganronpa 3 on Vita unless it has a simultaneous release on Steam. VNs are great on the vita's OLED screen, but if you only have a PSTV then yeah, probably best to play them on Steam.
