Star Wars. fucking Star Wars man.

Overall kinda just meh, huge set up movie, but i suppose it has to be. Killing of Han was a nice touch. Douche who played Kylo Ren sucked, looked like he was going to cry half the time when the mask was off, much better with it on. Not really a ton of story, lot of allusion and tons of action. What was there was all good though. Great use of CG and real life settings and props, felt way more alive and real than the shit prequels. WAY better movie than any of those.

Ending was pretty awesome, loved seeing mark hamil as luke again. Cant wait to see the next one, hopefully they flesh out the story more.

When han said kylo ren name he said Ben right? Really had hoped they would go with Anakin or Jacen like in the now non cannon books, but oh well. Pretty sure in the books it was jacen that went all dark side and did some shit.

Wonder who the parents of Ray will wind up being.

Thanks Vig, was gonna wait for a $10 standard copy but the extra $5 is well worth it here. This was a surprisingly good movie when I saw it over the summer.
No prob. My local store has some in stock, so I placed a store pickup order that will hopefully be ready for me to get at the same time as my Trails of Cold Steel CE.

Luke and Leia before they realized they were brother and sister. They had to get rid of the evidence, so they mind wiped her and left her in the middle of nowhere.

How do you know the cheap torch lamp you got is really really cheap?  You have to use teflon tape to get one 2 of the sections to actually tighten together properly.

What are the actual names of the now non canon books? The ones I'm assuming that were the original 7,8, and 9 or what may have been? I remember trying to find them a few years ago but there are just so many damn Star Wars books nowadays that I never did.

You mean The Escapists? Stotch played it. I think the X1 version has some extra content that PS4 hasn't gotten yet, like a Walking Dead pack.

http://invertedaccess.com/2015/06/12/the-escapists-review/ - 3/5 diamonds
Yeah that's the one. There are a few DLC packs out but they're $5/pack and TWD is a standalone title at $20 like the original. Too expensive. After reading the review I'll pass even at half off.

Harmonix revealed all the Amplitude trophies. It does have a plat and definitely sounds like a challenge. Here's the full list:
  • Pathway Restored: Complete a song in any mode.
  • Emergency Care: Restore a broken streak using Cleanse or Flow.
  • Accelerated Response: Clear two consecutive sequences on opposite sides.
  • Aggressive Tendencies: Clear two consecutive sequences and use Eject, Disrupt, or Cleanse against an opponent in between.
  • Group Therapy: Score 4000+ on a song as a team.
  • Overachiever: Get 100% sequences cleared on a song.
  • Imperturbable: Keep your streak and earn 100+ points through Disrupt.
  • Golden Child: Get a triple gold bar rating on three different songs.
  • Synesthete: Complete Dalatecht on any difficulty in Campaign mode.
  • Comprehensive Treatment: Complete a full 15-song Campaign on Intermediate difficulty or above.
  • Total Awareness: Unlock all songs.
  • Aggregate Results: Get more than 45000 points on the overall leaderboard.
  • Super FreQ Out: Complete a song in FreQ mode on Super difficulty.
  • Luminary: Get a triple bar rating on all songs.
  • Fluid Intelligence: Complete a 15-song campaign on Expert difficulty or above without failing, retrying, or quitting.
  • Closure: Complete all songs on Super difficulty.
  • Superhuman: Collect all other trophies.
The hardest trophies will probably be completing campaign on expert in a single session without failing/retrying/quitting and completing all songs on super difficulty. You unlock that by completing the 15 song campaign on expert.

Didn't realize the Star Wars movies were going to have different directors...hope that doesn't ruin the new awesomeness.
9th movie is going to be directed by the guy who did Jurassic World and Safety Not Guaranteed, but I guess it's going to be written by the same person who is writing and directing the 8th movie.

That's a pretty bland trophy card for Lost Dimension.

That's a pretty happy raccoon.

Magicka 2 seems like it has some good ideas, but it's kinda just blah in its execution. If the first one is like this one, I definitely don't understand what all the hype was about.

Also shitty ass trophies. 9 bronze on the first runthrough, and that was with some guide peaking that Pharm and I were doing.

The ones that MOST people say were like a 789 was the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn. They are really good.

new movied related stuff

the ones where jacen becomes a dark sider is in this big long Yuuzan Vong plot line they did I think. It was like 20 something books by multiple writers that dealt with this alien race from outside the solar system coming in and trying to take over, they were immune to the force so was interesting to start with but got bogged down in later stories.

I know some of you guys seemed to have liked it but is Mad Max worth being on my buy list if I have a plethora of other open-world games in my backlog?

Mad Max was a huge surprise for me, but I can see it showing up at Gamefly for $15-$20 within a few months. As others have said (and will say), though, its fun factor is dependent on how much you tolerate repetition because you'll be doing pretty much the same things for hours. Work on those other games first if you're still interested.

After last night I think I may be done with Gems of War. Only two trophies left are the level 50 and level 100 ones and that's a crazy grind. I may still fire it up when I only have a few minutes to play something but we'll see. It's a really good game, especially for free. I encourage any of you guys who like puzzle games to give it a shot sometime, especially since it won't cost you a dime.

Mad Max was alright but at this point I wouldn't recommend it for any more than $20. It definitely is not a game you'll enjoy going for 100% on.
I beg to differ, as I loved every minute of the 80 hours I put into it.

...Then again, I'm Vig and tend to enjoy games some people dislike or hate, so yeah.

This. So much this. I could have gotten the plat but after playing it so much I hit a wall and just didnt want to play it any more. I might go back to it one day, but it got very old and tedious after a while.

Nah, you, bestkeeper, gator, and mike all got the plat, I think it was just me that quit with almost the plat cause I got severely burned out on it.

Yeah I wasn't planning on buying it right now, I was just going over my wish list on Amazon and I noticed Mad Max didn't review as well as I was thinking it did. Just wondering if it was worthy of staying on my wish list. I may grab it at $10.

I loved Mad Max and every minute of it like Vig.  Mad Max collectables were more bearable than most other games because each settlement looked completely different in design and layout.  No other game does that.  Just Cause doesnt do it...neither does Far Cry.  Mad Max turned out to be a better game than Just Cause.  BLASPHEMY!

AC IV, AC Unity, AC Rogue, Sleeping Dogs Definitive, Arkham Knight, Mordor GOTY, Far Cry 4 Complete.
No one cares but I would play Mad Max before all of those except maybe Arkham Knight. Then Sleeping Dogs. Then the AC games. Far Cry is the "least fun" of the bunch. Still good though. And many nerds here will tell you how awesome Mordor is. I thought it was more meh than the others on that list.

I havent played Rogue but the guys here that like AC like it.

The big holdup for me with the plat was that it seemed like a LOT of the car challenges required a separate grind and didn't come during natural gameplay at all. Only other trophies I ended up missing were related to looting all areas which I might have done if I could have worked on car challenges too.

I'm sure I'd enjoy it. There's just something about roaming across a huge map and checking collectibles off a list that appeals to me. I never used to try and get 100% on shit like that but once I started it I found I just enjoy doing it.

Were you just looking at critic reviews? For some reason, I felt like nearly all of those completely missed the point with Mad Max, as most user reviews usually praise it.

Sleeping Dogs and Mad Max collectables are the most fun to collect. By far. You will get some burnout eventually but fuck it. Its still fun if you just play another game for a few minutes here or there. Or do something else for a day. These guys in here can get burned out because they keep playing games all day err day.

Yeah, just looked at the gamerankings page for it. But you guys are usually spot on with recommendations so I like to check here as well.

I thought finishing up the car challenges would have taken a while, but oddly enough, I think I only needed to spend an additional 2-3 hours on the remaining ones. As long as you're aware of particularly difficult or harder-to-finish challenges (e.g., shaking off 10 boarders without using the shotgun, killing 10 boarders with boarding spikes) while traversing the map, you shouldn't have much grinding to do at the end.

Yeah my play time is so limited that I look forward to any chance to play a game, burnout hardly ever affects me.

Quite a few of the critic reviews I read complained about how empty the world in Mad Max was, and my first thought was "...But isn't that the whole point?". It felt amazing to drive across the Wasteland in a fast car, and it looked far prettier than I expected.

Prolly that last sentence, bought it pre order and was trying to get done with it quick before the TIV fell. Played it a ton for a week or two straight.

I read these. They were very good. I read a handful of the other Star Wars licenced fanfics and nothing really measured up to the Thrawn trilogy. I'd recommend reading just those three, possibly the Han Solo trilogy or something like that if you're really interested in specific characters rather than just reading more about the world.

Destructoid thought The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel was OK: http://www.destructoid.com/review-the-legend-of-heroes-trails-of-cold-steel-328087.phtml

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel follows a lot of classic JRPG conventions, and as a result, it doesn't do a whole lot of things that haven't been done before, and better elsewhere. But the combat system still holds up, and the characters are charming enough to see the story through until the end.
Which means I'll probably love it.
