I do want Elite, but I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger with that new expansion out.
The expansion isn't too much worth it at the moment (imo), and you still get the 25% off Horizons if you have the base game (so if it appeals later etc. can pick it up and not get totally screwed).

If you/anyone reading wants to save money on Elite: Horizons, the 25% off discount for owners of Elite appears to extend to purchasing gift copies. So it ends up being $45 instead of $60 if you can find someone who owns Elite and willing to buy gift copies.

I was in the same boat, but I ended up biting on it. I bit initially at fall sale but refunded, but since then Ive read a lot more about it and the amount of content in the base to me is enough to justify its current price + owning the base gives you a permanent discount on the expansion and they're still adding content to the base. Having a friend who was nagging me to get in on it helped too. When he gets back from the holidays I'll be playing it more regularly. The expansion can wait. You may not even like the game enough to want the expansion.

I've installed it and played for less than an hour thus far. Its really pretty, runs awesomely, but the learning curve is high. Most of what Ive read says that it takes a bit to get used to the controls but once you have em down they're intuitive and make it a lot more fun. Crashing into walls while trying to dock my little ass ship in training was getting frustrating and I didnt want to get into the nuts and bolts of it that night.

On another note, I've been playing the absolute hell out of Rainbow Six Siege. Ubi did a really good job with it in many respects.

This has by far been the weakest holiday sale for me ever. Not just on Steam, but throughout all sales. There's still time and theres a few things Im looking at picking up, but Elite Dangerous is the only new game Ive gotten since the sales rush began. Oh and I picked up the Ass Creed Syndicate Season Pass when it had a nice enough discount on Direct2Drive a few days ago.

The lack of flashes etc have killed any impulse buying/enthusiasm for each day. Its literally an Amazon sale now, you see the list on day one, and then move on. Dumbass Valve.

Dangit. I can't find anything to spend my Amazon gift card balance on and the $5 android credit doesn't work on downloads. :(

Anyone wanna trade stuff from the Steam store? :p

*sigh*

How much was the syndicate season pass?

So Elite Dangerous: Horizons is Elite Dangerous with the expansion? If you just buy Horizons you aren't missing anything?

No. It is a standalone and you don't need the base to play Horizons, but it doesn't include the content from the other game. The "base" in this case is the "season one" content. Horizons is season two.

$16.19

So I don't know if this was a price mistake or what, but no one else has it close to this cheap, not even the shady sites. And I've been looking. :p

Direct2Drive has the Assassin's Creed Syndicate Season pass 40% off + that old ass 10newsletter coupon still works and takes another 10% off. Yes, it's a Uplay key for the Uplay version, obligatory EWWW COOTIES and all that. It's not 75%, but given how chintzy Ubi is with sales and that this is a new release and some of the DLC isn't even out yet seems decent to me.

Final Price comes out to $16.19. And I didn't get charged tax even in Washington state, which for buying from a US based store is something of a Christmas miracle for me.

For reference, ITAD

Sale is good for just under 15 hours, so it should end at 10AM PST or 1PM EST aka Valve Standard Time tomorrow.
It's gone on sale a couple of other places 40% off since then, Steam right now and Uplay a few of days ago, but AFAIK D2D was the only one who had an additional discount beyond the 40% so far.

It's only another $1.80 off but from the Steam/Uplay sales but it's something.

You're not missing anything... until next year when the next season's content comes out.

I saw a breakdown on the Steam forums from someone who has the game and was answering this same question..

Well, Basicly there is 3 options.

1. Get Elite Dangerous
You will get the original game, and minor parts of 2016's content, at a way lower price (during sales)

2. Get Horizons
You pay more, but get 2016's content, including the already released planet landings

3. Get Horizons next year, when it is on sale itself
Probably a similar price to Elite Dangerous now, but then there will be the 2017 season that you're not getting at that time yet.

If you don't want the fancy new content getting the elite seasons 1 year delayed will safe a lot of money.
If you want all content as soon as it is finished, you'll have to pay a bit more for it.

Also having ED itself gives you permanent 25% off on Horizons.
Horizons will likely give 25% off on 2017's season, etc.
The discount on other content is really what made me bite now. If I decide I like the thing enough, I can always jump on Horizons sooner with a discount and not "lose" any money considering the original cost $14.99. I get in the door cheaply and make my decision as I play more. Horizon's content is not even nearly all there yet. You're basically pre-ordering that content paying the price it is now. If I get hardcore enough into it too justify it, maybe by next year or even summer I'll be more interested.

There is no harm (maybe) in just grabbing the base for 15$. However on frontiers site they made it sound as if the discount for current owners would be going away a few weeks after horizons release. So whether or not they still plan to remove the discount may/maynot factor in to your decision

IMHO the current content in horizons isnt really worth it. A few of us grabbed the base when it was 15 a month or so ago, then pre-ordered horizons after loving the hell out of the base game. At this point none of us have really dug into the planet stuff as there isnt much there yet and alot of kinks still need to be worked out. So even owning horizons we are still mostly skipping it.

Either way within 6mo there will probably be a discount on horizons anyway, so you can hold out till then, at which point some of the more interesting content should be out as well

Putingate doesn't sell assassin's creed Rogue, right? I'm not seeing it.
Russian-audio only version.
Actually they don't sell it in the Russian region. Only the DLC. If you try in the Russian region to go to

http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-ACRO/assassins-creed-rogue

You get a page without a buy button and if you go to

http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-ACRORU/assassins-creed-rogue

You get a message that this product is not available

Now Unity is Russian language only. As is Syndicate. Black Flag seems to be multi language and ditto for the older stuff, though they have other issues like crap DRM and not full Uplay integration.

Considering that there is a page for a Russian version of Rogue with a not available message, even if they sold it, most likely it would be Russian only.

TL;DR - No you can't buy AC Rogue from Putingate.

It's fine, I just launched the game now to make sure. I want to say it's just MysterD being MysterD (OMG WUT IF THE WORLD ENDS TOMOROW AND I CANT PLAY MA GAEMS?!?!!) but I will say that since Atari went out of business (over a year ago) people were scared the servers would no longer be active. However I haven't really noticed anything unusual. Sometimes the servers go offline but they're always back within 24 hours, plus that used to happen before they went bankrupt and I'll just play one of the 1000+ other games I have anyway.

Honestly though, at this point, just get The Crew. It's basically an updated, better version of TDU2. Not as many cars AFAIK, but the graphics and new missions/objectives make up for it.

SO whats the deal on posts a few days back with this STEAM breach thing? Was that just on Xmas day or did it last longer? I need to know if i should be concerned. I didn't even log on on Xmas i dont belive. I was with my family most of the day.

I'm told it's excellent but I haven't had the urge to touch it. Just haven't had that 4X urge sadly. But I did play some on a free weekend and it was really, really fun. Much better than the disappointment of the new Civ for example.

Emperor edition gives an extra faction and unit or two I think. Not essential. I bought it as it gives content for another of their games (Dungeon of the Endless - which I LOVE).

Two of the DLC aren't necessary (Echoes is just extra music, takes is just extra quests but there's already plenty in-game). The other two add Espionage and erm, Guardians? I don't have any but I won't be buying until I've plays plenty of the base game.

It's a really refreshing take on fantasy 4X with plenty of "why didn't they think of this sooner?" upgrades. It also looks brilliant. I just keep putting it off as playtime is limited at present so I'd rather Fulton some more sheep in MGS:V.

Recommendation - buy the base game. Sleep on the DLC. There's plenty of content in the base game (it was Rock, Paper, Shotgun's GOTY of 2014).

And buy Dungeon of the Endless because it's ace.

:grouphug:

Endless Legend is definitely worth the $10 if you enjoy 4X games. Not only does it look nice, EL has a surprising amount of variety in the differences between the individual races you can choose. You're not going to get 27 different ones like in a Civ game, but each one is absolutely distinct from the others. There is a noticeable emphasis on eXploitation and eXpansion and the game populates your world with a wide variety of cute and horrifying neighbors you can assimilate into your society.

There is an all-in-one DLC pack you can buy for about $8 right now, but you probably don't need it yet. The base game is surprisingly deep and I never felt like I was being limited by not owning the two gameplay expansions (Guardians which adds huge elemental units, and Shadows which adds espionage). Pretty decent chance there will be more DLC coming later anyway.

I absolutely love it. The world it plops you into is stunning, yet unique enough to differentiate itself from the other 4Xses. As a bonus, EL fleshes out some of the Endless lore you probably ignored while playing idling Endless Space.

Caveat: It is a 4X. You'll want to spend 20+ hours on a match, and then feel horribly guilty when you don't (source: I have only played 15 hours and hate the scroll of shame every time I see it in my library).

Thanks for the info on Endless Legend. So i guess all the extra things are indeed DLC. I just hate nickle and diming DLC later on so i was wondering if they were going to release a 'complete' edition or anything any time soon. I can hold off on buying it if need be. Its sounding like you guys are saying just the base game by itself is kinda plenty though

I actually have never played a 4X game so im not sure if this is a good jumping off point for one. I actually was thinking of trying Rebel Galaxy because i heard it was a pretty light 4x style game and it looked fun but i just keep hearing great things about Endless Legend

How often does the Jackbox pary pack go on sale? Its only like half off right now but i wanted to pick it up for my sister since she got a new TV and laptop for xmas. I figured it would be fun to play on the big screen with her friends. Should i snag it at this price or just wait and see for something closer to 75% off or so?

Some cache error where pages that should not have been saved were being shown to others. It lasted a bit over an hour before they yanked the store down and it only affected people who visited the store so if you didn't use it at all you should have nothing to be concerned about. So far it seems like the worst part was random people being able to see your email address/phone and wallet balance. It was certainly weird though and something that should have never happened.

I dunno about DeathSmiles, I'm watching the HD youtube video and it doesn't look much better than the MAME videos I watched on youtube. It's as if Cave purposefully locked the original game at a certain resolution. It's only $5 at Gamestop if you can find it. Fun and confusing though.

Yeah I doubt it will be greatly improved over the Xbox 360 version but I'm OK with that if it is a good port in the first place.  I'll day one buy anything Cave puts up on Steam just to support the idea of more of these games coming to Steam.

For the last several days, I can list three cards and then it just locks up and won't submit any more cards (just the spinning wheel).  I guess the programmers are too hard at work plugging in lfash deals to make the community store work :oldman:
