I don't have anything there and my account is connected because I already got an EUIV DLC there previously. I do own CKII so it's not that.

I'll check back later when I have time. I know they had issues with everyone getting it when they did the EUIV DLC code they handed out there that same way a little while back.

Yeah, we need to wait that 72 hours I think. Tomasety got lucky and had it instantly lol (but didn't get email).

And here's free train simulator 2016 DLC:

I had to make a new account (maybe my old account was only on old forum software or something) but got my key instantly via the keys page.

Good info to know! :) (Though USB ports are rather durable and using one for a controller isn't a big deal... Unless you're clumsy, stupid, or both.)

Edit: Apparently you are on to something... Its not the USB port on the PC that has issues its the Micro USB port on the controller that's the weak link.

I suspect its good for other things (don't own one) but, yeah, the controller is no doubt a highlight. I game with a regular wired xbox 360 controller but I'm considering an upgrade as its far from new.

My only hangup on this deal is the new Elite Controller... Its really shiny, looks like a serious upgrade, and did I mention its really shiny? That said I'm not sure which is the bigger hangup... The price or what looks like a Window 10 requirement. (Who am I kidding...? The Windows 10 requirement. I got no desire to upgrade to it at this time.)

I've sort of looked around for info on seeing if one can bypass that requirement but so far no real luck on finding solid info on it being able to do. (If anyone's got links/experience otherwise I would love to see or hear it.)
Owning an elite (that I got for free from work, huzzah nice bosses) it is a nice controller. Its not 150$ nice though. It does have a nice weight to it, the rubberized grips feel great, and being able to switch to hair triggers is a nice option. Overall its a nice upgrade to the standard xbone, but it aint a 100$ premium nice

I remapped the paddles on the back to be bumpers and triggers, but really I almost never use them. They are slightly useful in Elite Dangerous for instance just because using bumpers always felt awkward to me, but having my fingers rest on them always makes me weary that Im going to accidentally trigger them. By default they are mapped to the standard a/x/b/y and I cant really imagine using those paddles for the main buttons. I guess with some practice someone could but I dont see the advantage

The replacement sticks and pads are a nice touch, but unless your a fighting game addict that needs those sorts of things you probably wont even use them

I've been playing Batman Origins and the Division beta and the D-Pad on my 360 controller is just really bugging me. aka too much fight to get the diagonal option selected.

I know the normal Xbone controller is an improvement on this, and that I want one with a 3.5 MM mic jack for the upgraded shoulder buttons, so its likely all I need... but I'm worried as soon as I buy MS is going to release Elite software for Win 7/8.1, cause you know... My luck in all.

Just to confirm: You're playing Elite: Dangerous on the Xbone or Windows 10 and not windows 7/8.1, correct?

Witcher 3 giveaway...of course there are some rules:

1) Must own witcher 1/2 and have played

2) Must have the ability to travel through alternate realities

3) Must travel to the alternate reality where witchers are real, go become a witcher, hunt down a griffon and bring back its head

really this should be easy if you are truly a fan of the witcher series
I've played 1 and 2 via GOG, and I'm actively trying to find a D&D 5e game that will let me play as a home-brew Witcher class (but so far they all want to keep it "official") :( . Is that good enough?!?

The Elite is a bit overkill for a PC gamer IMO. I picked up an Xbone controller over Xmas as the MS store had them for half price to replace my 360 controller I had for 3+ years as the sticks were getting wonky. Its an improvement over the 360 controller for sure. Not just the D-Pad, but even the sticks, they have a snappy quality to them that I didn't realize was going to be helpful. Im on Windows 10, so it was plug/play for me. Its not hard to set up for 7/8 either though. The one minor negative in respect to the Xbone is the face buttons are a bit too "squishy" for my taste, but its obviously by design so button presses register quicker.

IMO the Xbone controller is the best PC controller available. I also have a Steam Controller and while I do think that is an interesting attempt at a controller, it feels almost too experimental at this point. I LOVE the haptic feedback though, but holy crap the learning curve/getting used to time on the Steam controller is ridiculous. I do think in a few years the Steam Controller will become the go-to PC controller, but not there yet.

the improved 2nd Gen of Xbox 360 has a modified D-Pad (transforming D-Pad) and doesn't have the problem u currently have with your old, 1st gen Xbox 360 pad

Yeah, but those are all wireless and my current controller is wired so there would be no real savings after finding the discontinued wireless reciver.

Solid idea though. :)

I didn't realize someone here actually ended up buying one of these. I really wanted one but was going to wait until the hype died down and the real impressions started coming in. Are you saying it'd be better to pass on at this point? I'd love to be able to play M&KB games with a controller.

Right, xbone on win10 with ED. I usually swap between my hotas and the xbone since interdiction is 100x easier on a controller than on a joystick

I would say that would definitely be one downside on moving from a 360 to a standard xbone would be the loss of the 3.5mm if you happen to use it since then you need to buy another adapter. Of course the elite doesnt have that issue, but I havent tried using its own 3.5mm jack since the one we got came with a headset that plugged in to the entire bottom of the controller and gives vol+mute controls, even then I have another headset I normally use anyway

-edit

after looking around it looks like MS released a newer version of the standard xbone this summer that also had a 3.5mm jack. However the one I got this christmas didnt have the jack. So you may have to do some digging to make sure you get a controller that has one and not some backstock of the older version

A few of us bought one back in pre-order. I only bought one when someone posted in this thread that they were shipping immediately and I had Amazon credit to burn + I was able to sell the free games that came with it so I got it for less basically.

I can't say it's "better" to pass. If you have the money and are in the mood to try something legitimately new in the way of controllers, go for it. Its got a high learning curve though and you have to be prepared to put time into it to get used to it. Its not like a Xbone/360 controller where you just plug it in and away you go. Every game has its own control profile and sometimes multiple ones, so there's trial and error seeing what suits you best. Its also just different "feeling". IMO the Steam Controller is not yet a replacement, its more of a supplementary peripheral. They're on the right track. In a generation or two it could very well become a replacement.

Absolutely this. While nice, the Steam Controller won't replace your Xbox controller for gaming. It's mostly useful if you're really into RTS type games and you want to play them from your couch. If this doesn't describe you, you're better off waiting for the next revision or 2 once they've had some time to refine it and there are adequate and well-tested/prove controller profiles out there.

The guarantees are the Forza and the Lunar versions... Though the bundle they are saling for PC looks like they are the new 3.5/better shoulder button versions now with the old style having sold out sometime in December. Though with the current "we don't have it in stock but more are on order" I wouldn't consider it a guarantee... Just highly likely.

This is mostly going to be for Flowette but others where talking about Darkest Dungeon...

Where's my game?

Claim your free Crusader Kings II DLC!
Speaking of which, how the fuck do you play this game?

I have been trying off and on to figure out how to actually play this game since I bought it almost four years ago.

Nice.. I think this might be the first Origin on the house game I actually want and didn't own. Too bad there's so much DLC though..
The only DLC that's worth anything is the airport one and the one with the massively unbalanced Venom and those aren't really even worth buying.

This looks so good but I'm sure it's going to be like Everybody's Gone to the Rapture where all the dumb dumbs that don't like walking simulators that keep buying them rage on it.

A thrilling story and script by Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin (The Walking Dead: Season 1, Poker Night at the Inventory)

Cuz you know, Poker Night totally had an amazing script.
Looks interesting...but $20 for 6 hours of content....which will probably turn out to be a walking simulator....meh, I'll wait for it in the Poopiez Build a Bundle....

DID I JUST TOTALLY MOOBY DIS GAME R WUT?!?!?!?
