This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

Of course, Microsoft would go that route - logical for them. Meh.

EDIT:

I hope Red Dead Redemption is ported as a Windows 10 Windows Store Exclusive so I can laugh at MysterD's misery.
If that happens, now there's at least 2 reasons (RDR + Quantum Break) to upgrade my main gaming desktop Win 7 PC over to Win 10.

My crummy laptop's already been moved to W10. I blame all of those 10 cent + 1 dollar music deals on W10 store right before last XMas or whatever for that.

Oh, the required ISP speedtest... I wish Google would hurry up and get into my neighborhood.

lol, faster than 95% of us isnt good enough? Gas mileage on your maserati sucks too

Those are some ridiculous requirements. It's got to be a poorly optimized mess. Why release a game with requirements that put it outside the reach of 80% of the market?
We'll just wait for hopefully some kind of dirt-cheap 75% off sale or better and play it years down the road when PC's have hardware that won't break a sweat with it.

EDIT:

While I'm fine w/ the min. requirements power-wise....

LMAO @ the 980 Ti recommendation.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Verdun? I know a lot of CAGs got it on a price glitch awhile back, curious if anyone has actually played it and thinks its decent?

EDIT - Since no one has mentioned bros for the day, would anyone show up for a BRONIGHT if I scheduled it for this?
I'm scheduling a bro night for this anyways. Are there 3 people here that want to go in on the 4 pack with me before the end of the sale? Price would be $7.50 each

The Alan Wake hype train was pretty gay but it was still a very good game. Remedy is still aces in my book.

Except for that awful ending. Are Stephen King books supposed to end terribly or what?

Last night I got a good trade deal on the Rise of the Tomb Raider season pass (equivalent to abt $12) so I took it. Went ahead and played through some of it. A lot of superfluous crap, but obviously the draw is the single player stuff.

- Baba Yaga - This is the story DLC. Its not very long. Maybe 2 more hours of playtime and that might be generous. Silly little side story that felt very Scooby Doo-ish by the end as well as being really predictable. The girl that voices Chloe from Life is Strange is a character in this DLC, so theres that I guess (meaningless).

Endurance mode - This is a whole secondary game mode. Its basically missions with the goal of locating artifacts, but you have to stay warm and fed throughout. Kind of a low rent survival type of game. I only played the prologue to it and it may be interesting, so Ill save judgment on it.

I don't think this season pass is worth more than $10. Baba Yaga certainly is not must play and Endurance mode is a YMMV situation. There's apparently at least 1 more major DLC release that sounds like a horde mode, so w/e.

Too bad the Baba Yaga DLC isnt referring to 'him'....

The ending to Alan Wake was bad. It also kind of wore out its welcome by mid-game and ceased to be unnerving after the first hour.

As a reader of many a King book, I can say that the journey is almost always far superior to the eventual outcome. It seems like he gets to a place where he's explored all of the creepiness in an idea and then -- boom -- out comes the predictable ending. There are exceptions, of course, and most of his short stories end well before he hits that plateau. So yeah.

I don't have GCU either, Motoki.

Regardless, PC version's on sale w/ GCU or w/out it - in case anyone got Bing-made $ for Amazon, BB Gift Cards, or whatever to blow.

So anyhow, deals.

Well sorta. Shitty ones but that's all we get lately unless it's a 3 second glitch in Azerbaijan.

Square store is having a sale. Mostly of interest to the console people because "up to 50% off!"

Just about everything PC is at or less than the lowest discount those games have already been at, but Lightning Returns is 50% off at $10.

Not an amazing sale but it's the first time it's gotten anything beyond a token discount so far.

It ceased to be unnerving because nobody else could do the shadow voice half as good as Stuckey.

I enjoyed the gameplay through to the end though myself. A decent dodge, great graphics, and somehow making light feel more powerful than a Doom rocket launcher is certainly enough to keep me playing.

I guess if they're making a King homage then of course they need a weak-ass ending.

That video with the Remedy guy made me lol though. How hard it is to get Alan Wake out of the darkness. Please, you wrote NO rules for the darkness. He ain't NEVER getting out. You didn't even write a half good reason why he had to stay! It'd be like killing Alma. You can't even write anything that can kill her at that point, same as the darkness now!

Which I guess they did whack her in FEAR 3 but it wasn't anything mankind did to stop her.

Well, one man took one for the team on that, I guess... It was a special case, is what I'm saying.

I really liked Alan Wake. One of my favorite last gen console games along with Red Dead Redemption which vastly overshadowed it and was released on the same day.

Alan Wake was great the first go around.

But just like Bioshock, once the story payoff unfolds (or in AW's case, fizzles) all you're left with is the middling gameplay. It's soooo pfffffttttttt.

King comes up with cool ideas that make a great 300-400 page book.....then he takes that idea and makes a 1200 page book....

Dude seriously needs an editor to slash n burn his loggerhea....and some of his endings are meh....but the journey is often interesting albeit looooooooooooooooong.

I saw COD: Ghosts on clearance at Target today for $13.  I sat and looked at it for awhile and realized I don't know if Ghosts is old or new or good or bad or what the hell is a good price for it anyway.  I am not very good at this clearance shopping thing.

Everybody go post some pics or talk about hardware in the Show Your Build thread so I don't have all the post and oh updated pics of build: https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/343278-show-your-build/?p=13200085
I actually installed my last part for now on Sunday night so I should have pics once I finish rearranging my office.

It's old and that's probably not the best price depending on the platform. You can get like the deluxe edition for $10 at some places. I think I got one at Target for PS3 with the Season Pass. Also came with one of those survival bracelets if that's your thing.
