PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

Not really worst game of the year material, but The Order was mediocre in just about every respect. I'd certainly call it one of the most disappointing games of the year.

Someone called out some people in the psn code trade thread for being dumb with pricing. One guy was selling last of us remastered code for 35 then dropped to 30, another guy wanted 45 bucks for a freaking mortal combat x skin.

Good stuff.

Best Buy has a deal where you can preorder Far Cry Primal and get FC4 Complete Edition for $20 (additional $10 off its current $30 sale price) in the same order: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/offer/158919/pcmcat748301842993.c?id=pcmcat748301842993&ref=199&loc=FKSJxY2VJAk&acampID=1&siteID=FKSJxY2VJAk-xKMjSYv8PYw0BTLIl.xSCw
Wow, you didn't get very far at all back in 2013. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to help without spoiling anything too much.

I'm curious as to how the TT values for Dark Souls 1 and 2 are so low if they're supposed to be such hard games. Maybe most of the people playing them know what they are getting into and are up to the challenge? idk. I would think at least the plat would be worth a good bit from people starting the game and rage-quitting.

Probably because they rage quit before they got one trophy. That's me with Demon Souls, though it wasn't a rage quit. Booted it, played a little, no trophies came, forgot about it and never started it again.

There's a trophy for dying though. In Dark Souls 2 at least. I'm willing to bet everyone that has played it even a little has that trophy.

Thats fair and makes sense. I wish people would temper expectations though with new games. It always looked like a basic shooter with great graphics to me. And I thought the story was good.

Thanks. I think life stuff got in the way back then, so I didn't have much of an urge to continue Dark Souls, but with the third game releasing in a little under 2 months, I want to plat the first two.

As for advice, I'm doing OK, at least for now--the trophy guide on PSNP is pretty helpful.

Demon's Souls is low because there is self-duping so you can do it in fewer playthroughs than the originally required 3.5 and duping between players in multiplayer to more easily hand over items needed for trophies. Though I am surprised it isn't a little higher since it is a PS+ game. It's probably partly because of what Zimm said, you need to beat the first boss to get the first trophy and the opening bit of the game in which you have to acclimate to no button mashing and no leveling (until you beat the boss) is one of the hardest parts of the game. So that weeds out a lot of players before they get a trophy.

I should really trade/sell Bloodborne. I don't think I'm going to go back to it. It's got a cool atmosphere, but frustrating gameplay.

Yeah I guess I'm mainly having difficulty understanding Dark Souls 2's value. Since it has a trophy for dying one time.

The stats on TT are about 10% higher than PSNP. There's probably just more people willing do deal with that type of game on TT. I feel like there'd be less people just trying the game out without knowing what they're getting into on TT. When you look at the stats on Demon's Souls, they're definitely lower in general, so since it was the first one, more people probably had no idea what they were getting into.

The original Dark Souls' relatively low TT score also doesn't make a lot of sense considering the first trophy earned (Light a bonfire) occurs minutes after starting the game.

People also probably stay away and don't even try for it due to their reputation for being really hard (though they aren't really THAT hard). Vanquish challenge 6 was harder than anything I faced in Dark Souls. So only a lot of those who would see it through even try it. Dark Souls 1 not being digitally available might also hurt it's proliferation among those who try a game a little, and then give up.

I opened my Groupon app to see a deal for a brewery followed by a deal for a vaginal rejuvenation.  Only $299 now!  Also what the fuck.

I knew about the motion sickness issues in The Witness, but there was supposedly going to be a patch to address that (did that ever happen)? I didn't know about Firewatch. Hopefully they address it too.
No way they can patch it out. The very nature of its design (lack of control over the camera in a lot of movement sections that are really video) is what caused the problems.

I played the Heroes Reborn game right after, and they have cut scene type things where you couldn't control the camera at the very beginning. Those got to me a bit, but the rest of the game you were in control and I did not have any issues.

So glad I dont have this problem, sounds awful.

Sucks for you though.

Ugh. Dude has wasted a year of his life porting a game to Vita, when I'd bet at least 50% of Vita owners also own a PS4 and could have just played the game there while he started work on his next game.

That doesn't exactly help to make Dark Souls sound easier, lol.
Demon's Souls is basically the story of how a seeker of glory entered a doomed land and brought it back from the brink of destruction. It starts off hard since you can't grind to become more powerful by leveling up and you can't visit any different areas to get more powerful gear. But once you have conquered the first boss and established that beachhead in Boletaria, the path forward gets steadily easier as you get access to stronger weapons, spells, and upgrade materials to make the weapons even stronger.

Dark Souls starts off much the same way, you are underpowered in the beginning, but then once you push through the opening things get easier, until you hit the wall that is Laurel and Hardy about half-way through the game.

One other aspect which may also he holding down the TT score of the Souls game is the ability to summon 2 allies to help as many bosses and other tough obstacles become fairly trivial with the help of even 1 other summoning partner as they can take the heat off the host long enough to heal. Pikachu and Snorlax are a bitch and a half when soloing, but are much, much easier with 2 players helping out.

Well I haven't bought it yet and there may well be a sale when they release the Vita version.

Only thing that worries me is the need to map some controls to the touchscreen because of Vita lacking enough controls. Hopefully it's not too problematic.

Got the Protective Father trophy in Teslagrad last night.  It wasn't AS bad as I'd thought it'd be, but man, what a PITA.  The first time I made it to the top, I was waiting for the scroll to come up, only to realize I hadn't stepped on the button to start it moving upwards. It then took me probably another 45 mins or so to make it back to the top.  If I hadn't played Velocity ultra/2x, it probably would've taken me much longer.

I didn't watch the whole thing, but It sounded like the port was contracted out so not sure he really wasted a year working on it. I think he may be bug testing, though.
