It was a big mistake with how they devalued their brand with the Steins; gate sales.  I learned my lesson the hard way last time and won't be buying Gal*Gun or other Rice Digital "exclusives" before they're on sale/clearance.

Thanks! Actually, I thought it was an RPG for some reason, hence my translation question. This will be fine to play.

Same here. Shit's way too expensive for what they are offering.

Devalued their brand? What the heck happened exactly?

Many of us bought collectors editions of Stein's gate from ricedigital.co.uk for close ~$90 (I can't remember exact cost) around this time last year. They were also advertised as store exclusives. For a time, this storefront was the only way to purchase Steins Gate.

Fast forward a few months and then Rice digital released a North American version of the El Psy Kongroo collectors edition for the Vita, and for the PS3 in addition to the first release PAL region versions many of us already purchased. A few months later and the standard edition came to our Amazon. A couple months after that the game was $20 in the late fall for the standard edition. Then in addition to that, Ricedigital had a couple of deep price slashing clearances on their remaining El Psy Kongroo collector's editions in stock. I think they were like $35 ish. They also had a bundle at one point that included the base game + a calander that came out later in order to try to get people to buy the SE at full price. When that failed they shipped all those calendars to amazon.com and amazon again RE-BUNDLED the game as a new "Limited Edition" and raised the price on the SE from what was then $20 back up to $40. It was just the calendar thrown into the shipping box.

Long story short, if you backlogged this you got screwed. It ended up costing WAY less if you had just patiently waited on buying this "limited collector's edition Rice Digital UK store exclusive". I don't know about others but it left a really bad taste in my mouth. I felt misled and probably won't be buying from them again in the future. Not to mention all the subsequent re-releases including things we didn't get in our overpriced day one CE.

Perhaps one day, companies will stop shitting on their day1 supporters. There's a reason why a ton of us mainly buy games at Best Buy and Amazon right now.

I will wait till I can buy the game for about $25...it looks a bit shallow....talking about GalGun. I bought Aegis and it was cheap, but pretty shallow as well so I wont pay $50 for it.

I don't know man, I guess I can't quite get on board with the logic that I should feel screwed for having bought the US CE from them because it ended up being cheaper later. I wouldn't expect they'd sit on inventory and do nothing to try and move it.

Maybe I'm not quite following your story there correctly though, but that's what it seems to boil down to.

I agree. I would also take issue with his claim that people didn't know the US version was coming. While it wasn't super clear that the US version of the CE would be released, the developer made it pretty clear that the game was getting a US release. It's not Rice's fault that he was impatient. The calendar thing after the price drop was weird, but it's not like they tricked anyone into buying the game for $40 with the calendar. If you didn't like the price, you didn't have to buy it.

Rice had so many different things going on with Steins Gate, I couldn't keep track of it all. It went in and out of stock, they offered several different variations over time, and personally, I couldn't tell what was going on in the end.

At the end of the day, they offered a game and extra's that wouldn't have seen the light of day otherwise, and I was happy to buy it at the time, and I actually made a few bucks along the way.

If they had sold out completely within a few months, and prices stayed over the moon, we would be seeing complaints on that side of the coin. It is what it is. Like any LE offered by anyone, it may sale out quick, then you miss out, or you roll the dice, and get in early, and hope it maintains it's value. It's the game we all play, and sometimes you win, and sometimes you loose.

So I decided to bite the bullet and order Lego Marvel Avengers from amazon.com.

I waited all week for Best Buy to re-stock and I don't see it happening anytime soon.

I even went into my local Best Buy and they told me none of the local stores in my area have it available.

One of the employees was nice enough to even try to order it direct but he said it was unavailable.

This one maybe hard to find down the line.

I had $5 in amazon credit so that basically covered the shipping charge.

I just would have preferred to get it at $15.99 with GCU and free shipping.

The struggles of a vita gamer.

Mostly we lose. The two times in recent years I went out of my way to purchase a second copy of some "destined to be rare" games I ended up with duplicate copies of games that devalued about as quickly as a new car. And then the two times I had a mind to order a second copy of something I either lacked the funds or said game completely sold out, and as fate has it in for me, those were the games that actually shot up in value and have actually held value. I use to make a killing of buying and re-selling video games as a teenager, and even when I was in my early twenties, but I failed to stick with the after marketing after I began working full-time about ten years back and am now getting smacked around on the few odd times I've tried to re-enter that field of venture investing. In all reality I have a good grasp on rarities, but the market is very fickle and has become highly competitive, to the point I rarely venture out on a Saturday morning to visit a few yard sales anymore without encountering dealers so bold as to flat out ask the people having these sales if they have video games they're interested in selling them cheap to "add to their collection". As for the Vita, the obvious hot commodities now and down the road will be the true limited edition games sold exclusively through specific websites, and even the not so limited editions that are exclusively sold online. Most any game with a print run of under 10,000 copies is bound to eventually go up in value no matter how poorly the gaming news media may rate it. And any game with a print run of under 5,000 copies will unquestionably maintain close to the original MSRP in value, and more than likely ascend in value over time, especially if it is a well received game.

44% rated Gameseek one star (very poor), with many reviews mentioning that no product was delivered at all, after weeks to months of waiting. I'd say your advice is pretty on-point.
Sorry guys, I didn't realize the seller was disreputable.

Being it is a Friday night and I have absolutely nothing better to do on a Friday night than watch anime by myself, I've put together a bit of a pictorial of Japanese Vita games I'd really like to see released here... physically... in English. And look, there's even a game they made just for Squarehard!

Some of those were games first though, before they were turned into anime, and then turned back into a game.

DISQUALIFIED!

Wait, there's a Cross Channel Vita game? I didn't know that. Figured it was way too old to still be relevant.

Anyone remember Nanaca Crash?

And most of those are otome/bishoujo. Pretty unlikely for those.

Adding a couple in my Amazon JP cart:

And this one, but it's likely to be released here, I think.

I wouldnt mind getting those otome games, except for Diabolik Lovers. That one kinda too twist for me. The bad endings in those are really bad from what I read.

The Grisaia Trilogy will likely be brought over by LRG/Sekai Project since theyre heavily teasing it.

Who needs Gundam Breaker 2 when you have an upcoming Eng Asia release of Gundam Breaker 3, which by all accounts is better.

Depending on how well Cyber Sleuth did, we could get Next Order.

Tokyo Xanadu might happen. All on XSEED though.
