Got mine, good thing I set a reminder because I would have forgotten.

I really don’t miss that stress of refreshing and checking out but I got it so I guess that’s it for Vita releases now? Until someone pulls out another box in 2025 I guess?
There are still up in the air/unknown..

Revenge of the Bird King - LRG: This has been discussed quite a bit and was supposed to be a "free" gift for someone who has all the Vita games. But havent heard much about it in a while. I think Doug mentioned they werent going to do anything with it this year.

The Nicalis games (Vvvvv, 1001 Spikes, and maybe Binding Of Isaac): I have no idea whats going on with these. There were some on Ebay in the past with a hole punched UPC but I havent read any info about them being released to the general public.

Copies of Bird King definitely exist, there were a few that popped up on eBay last year. How/when/if LRG distributes them is the unknown factor of those.

On Nicalis, the only copies of their games that have appeared have hole-punched UPCs indicating they were either test prints or promotional copies. It's unclear whether the full print run for their games happened or not.

Nobody expected EAS to have one more game hiding in the wings so I guess another surprise somewhere isn't out of the question, though.

Doug left LRG and he was the only one who periodically seemed to answer questions. I doubt we’ll hear anything about Bird King for long time

I think Play Asia has the Vita game on ebay for 69.99 with free shipping. I feel like it would have to be them, but who knows. I spaced this morning so that is what I am in for...

I never got into collecting, but I have a few games that I bought and just never got around to opening. Mostly non-NA region games from Play-Asia; Dokuro, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Senran Kagura Estival Versus, and also the LRG release of Oddworld New & Tasty.

I have a few rare ones too but should I keep them sealed now?

I buy stuff to play, end up getting busy and do not get to. then i cannot bring myself to open rare sealed stuff that I want to play because you are taking a sealed copy out of circulation...caglife

Video Games Plus has a restock of a slew of Play Asia exclusives. They briefly had 'Horizon Chase Turbo' and 'Scourgebringer' was still in stock. Most are games most of us passed on over the years. I only picked up 'My Big Sister + Just Ignore Them.'

I'm wondering where these came from, because according to VGP's own stock numbers on the listings, they had 10+ for pretty much every one of them. The only game that went immediately out of stock was 'Xeno Crisis.' I have that on Dreamcast and Evercade, but I'm guessing they didn't have 10+ of that.

I got really excited, added everything to my cart I didn’t already have, saw it was over $400 then just slowly whittled it down until I had nothing in my cart.

I was excited to see new life in this thread but sadly easy pass on these titles and prices. Hope everyone that has gaps in their collection were able to acquire what they wanted.

Mainly shovelware titles that aren't worth their Steam asking price, let alone a physical release.

Interesting if you're purely a collector, but as a gameplayer, the only thing here remotely interesting is Scourgebringer.

Wow. They're actually releasing them. I hope there's plenty of copies.
This happened near the end of the publishing window for games when quantities were rationed. It’s probably only going to be 1500 copies…. though I wouldn't be at all shocked if they dropped it to 1001. Given the resell value, every reseller is probably coming out of the woodwork for it.

I know most people aren't going to care what quality the game has but 1001 Spikes is in my Steam library as a retired game. I got to level 2-5 or something and just stopped for it being frustrating. It's one of those try the level a bunch of times to avoid dying type games with a lot of lives. Nothing special or anything although the graphics, sounds and music are fine. The controls feel slightly floaty and not super, super precise, but good enough. I played it again for about 10 minutes and promptly retired it again. Wont be touching it myself at least but good luck all who want in that bloodbath. I sold one of the final 3DS games too that something story that was a terrible FF Tactics like game. I think I got $20 bucks extra for that, but yeah that game blew much more than this one.

That's a shame. That's Fragrant Story. The "real game" was finally released. The developer put out a minimally viable product to get it into the final manufacturing window and on the eShop. They then released the rest of the game as free DLC.

I think it's charming for what it is and I have two copies of it now, one being the not-a-reprint reprint (there's a blog about this matter).

Look at that the Vita thread is alive again.

I will be trying to buy the Nicalis releases for Vita. I really enjoyed all three games and it would neat to own them. I hope that all three rumored games are coming. They did say they produced a lot of these way back when so I'm hoping it will not be that difficult to order. We will see in October when 1001 spikes is put up for order.

Unnecessary forced collector's edition with extra filler junk for $100. No thank you I'm out.
I was excited for these releases but not anymore after seeing the pricing.

Man, I was just hoping they would rip off the band-aid and actually release the thing today. I'm so tired of the goalposts moving on the Vita set, they stopped producing cartridges for the thing over five years ago and it feels like Nicalis and LRG have been in some weird-ass ePeen measuring contest to see who can kick the can the furthest down the road for the better part of a decade.

Isn't there also rumors there are some other publishers that have a Vita game that they're withholding just to be the "last" Vita game? I think EastAsiaSoft was one of the names floating around.

The sad thing is even at $99.99, that's going to instantly sell out and of course getting one will be significantly higher through ebay. I'm glad I let go of the collecting bug for the Vita, even though it was as fun a system to collect for as the Dreamcast (before all the limited print stuff watered down the library).

I think the one EAS was holding onto was Jet Set Knights, and it's been out since 2023. They released it like a full year after the previous game they did: https://www.play-asia.com/jet-set-knights-limited-edition/13/70g7ld

As far as I know the only credible releases that are being held onto are Nicalis's trio (VVVVVV, 1001 Spikes, The Binding of Isaac) and LRG's Bird King "full set" release.

I bought Jet Set Knights and still haven't even opened it but at least the cost on that was reasonable. Like $35 with $13 shipping charge.

I really hope that $99.99 was just a placeholder price and the games may be cheaper.

I could see myself paying like $60-$70 for this collection but $100 for a key chain and a soundtrack CD in a box is ridiculous.
It will sell out of course because the community has been waiting for these games for a long time but the only one I would even considering investing this kind of money for would be Binding of Issac for Vita. I actually do not own that one on Vita. I have that one free with PS Plus.

I have bought and played 1001 Spikes. It is a good game but I don't consider it a $100 collector's edition worthy game.

The last collector's edition I bought was Balder's Gate 3 on Xbox. That was $80 and with international shipping $108.
